~ René ~ As the product of a cross species mating, I lived with a foot in two worlds, vampires and gryphons. I had very little patience for either of them. Learning that the prince of gryphons was my mate didn't make me happy, but I only got one mate. Giving him up wasn't possible, no matter how many others tried to keep us apart.
~ Alessandro ~ As prince of all the gryphons in Italy, I was used to getting my way. People did not say no to me, which made finding my contrary mate all that more intriguing. René had no problem telling me no or disobeying my orders. If I wanted to keep the sexy man—and I did—then I needed to learn how to seduce him over to my way of thinking. It would help if people would stop trying to kill us.

I feel conflicted in so many ways... I feel like a lot happened, yet nothing at all...Like, the true difference between mates and true mates??? Not what we may know or understand from other authors about the difference in terms... But, what was THIS author's interpretation of those titles... The insta hate for René was peculiar yet, interesting... I don't know... Just kinda a muddled mess in my opinion...
Aja Foxx is a relatively new to me author but I am quickly becoming addicted to their works. They have a very easy way of writing that just sort of sucks you in and before you know it you are completely engrossed in the world they are weaving.
Rene is a vampire-gryphon hybrid. In the paranormal world he shouldn't even exist and not everyone is happy that he does. Alessandro is prince of the Gryphons in Italy and completely surprised when he finds his fated mate in the night club. Recognizing the connection between them right away, he is quick to press his claim on Rene. However, Rene, having grown up in the world of high society, has rejected all the pomp and phony facades to live life on his own terms as a struggling artist, and he's not especially keen to be pulled back into that lifestyle - fated mate or not! It's going to take a lot of compromise, patience, and, oh, ferreting out the traitor in the prince's midst before Alessandro and Rene get their HEA.
There's a lot to unpack in this book regarding the different paranormal clans and the hierarchies within them, but the author does a really good job at defining these and in setting up the world, while also giving us well defined characters. I really liked Rene and Alessandro and the push and pull of their personalities when they first meet. Rene is definitely not a pushover and watching Alessandro scramble to woo and win his mate was both sweet and touching. I'd love to read more about this world and characters and I do hope the author revisits it at some time. All-in-all, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I'd definitely recommend it!
if you're going to read this, read the human vampire prince book first. this is a nice story but i feel like I'm missing so much background here. based on the author's book list, the human prince has his own book, but this isn't set up as a series so there's no way to know that going in. also, it seemed like the kings should have a backstory, but i couldn't find one. I'm not sure if reading the other book first would fill in the blanks, but as is, i just felt like a lot was missing. the steam also felt lacking. again, I'm not sure if it's because i was distracted trying to figure out what the heck was going on, but i skipped most of the naughty bits just trying to get to the end. i like the premise and wanted to love this book, but the execution was a bit off.
I am always down to reading MM books. I was looking for another book with the same title (self help) but found this and decided to read it.
It wasn't bad, just that it felt like I was reading a Wattpad book. Honestly, I've read other w MM books that are better than this. The characters didn't feel real, the enemies ARE stupid, the scenarios are meh, the plot around it was amateur. It felt like it wasn't thought out well. I've created scenarios like this back in HS when I was writing fanfics. It was all predictable. It was below my expectation from reading the plot.
But it's still ok I guess. This is such an easy read and almost cozy in that I can just read and not think at all.
Good story with likeable characters. Love that Rene made Alessandro work for the mate claim & enjoyed the sass. Loses a star because toward the end the editing got sloppy. Mixing up Armando & Alessandro (Rene's father & his mate) names several times which jars me out of a story, along with missing words & more. It honestly felt like whoever edited just decided they couldn't be bothered to finish the book edits because up until that point there weren't any issues.
I really enjoyed this. It was light and fun and had characters with personality. This is the same world as the Human Vampire Prince and we got to see some of the characters from that book again. It had a good dose of intrigue and whilst the sub-plot was fairly simple it gave a good dose of action as well. I’m really hoping we get more from this world. Perhaps another Prince of a different species?
I love love this book if is now one of my top favorite books!!! I got pulled into & swallowed by Rene & Armondo. The more I read the more I couldn't put the book down the love the betrayal the snickers it is just the perfect story one I didn't want to end - thank you Aja
This book was wonderful. I had love, lust, and excitement. I loved how it brought different clans together and how it taught a lesson. Rene and Alessandro are a great couple. I hope there are more books about them. Rene’s family finally found love and peace.
This was a wonderful story. It was interesting from beginning to end. Wasn't your typical Supernatural Romance novel. There was nuance, intrigue, some good sex, family, and love. I highly recommend it if you're interested in books of this genre.
Very surprised by this book. It's very well written and the characters are well thought out. I enjoyed the play between all the characters and the storyline. I didn't expect much from the description but I'm am very pleased I gave this book a try. Recommend
I loved this sequel to The Human Prince. This story seemed better crafted than the former and focused not just on the intrigue but the blossoming relationship between the MC's. Though the story ended similarly to the Human Prince it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book.
Exchange looks, enter the bathroom, have sex, and decide to spend the rest of their lives together - what can I say? makes perfect sense. As if the author did not want to invest in dialogue or relationship development
Not sure what I just read but erotica wasn’t it. This was the furthest thing from erotica. The story was so rushed and incomplete. I think it had potential it was just poorly executed.
3.5 🌟's. This was a fun read. My only complaint is the story moved to fast and to slow. The action was over really quickly and the kind of boring parts were slow and meandering. I would recommend, I still enjoyed it.
While I enjoyed the book for the most part, it took me a while to warm up to Alessandro. He was a bit overbearing in the beginning and I could see why Rene had doubts about their mating. He did get better throughout the story and by the end I was glad that the two MCs got their HEA. All in all, an enjoyable read.
The chemistry between the MCs is amazing! The intimate scenes were written well and there was an amazing storyline to go with it. Overall, I enjoyed this story a lot :)
To say this book is OTT, does not do it justice. Is there an OTT squared? This book was utterly ridiculous from start to finish... but I more or less enjoyed it. I think. I never finish books I hate. So, here we are. My brain kept pausing "Wait. What? But that doesn't.." and I'd just have to remind myself to roll with the story. I think the only part that truly annoyed me was how Alessandro kept threatening everyone, including people he'd been working with for almost 100 yrs, with death and decapitation. Like I get it. He's a big badasshole character. To wrap this up, read with a steady hand on your suspension of disbelief. I like to think the author wrote this with the thought of just having a good romp.
Their relationship felt very rushed. The story was ok but they never got to sit down and build on their relationship. It was just one thing after another
