If you title your book the Ultramarathon Bible, I would assume that you are writing a book filled with critical information gained from extensive experience with endurance races. This book lacked any real specific information on running a 50k or 100k. I know it is meant to be a beginners guide to the distance but most runners attempting a 50k or 100k have many marathons under their belt. This book was a waste of time, lacked humor and insight and I would not recommend to anyone, especially not to newbies to the ultramarathon world.

If you're going to call your book the "bible" of some topic, it should have everything one needs to know about that topic. This book, however, was just a very basic, brief overview of running in general. It had very little to do with running ultras and did not offer anything valuable for people who already know how to take care of themselves on any hour+ run. It was more like a blog post than a detailed guide on ultra-running.

I feel a bit harsh only giving this book 2 stars but I didn’t find anything too scientific or even different from the copious amounts of running advise in standard magazines and online

There were no personal stories to relate to and it came across a basic guide and a guide for someone completely new to running in my opinion

It is well written and it is a friendly approach but I just didn’t find it particularly interesting

A good overview of ultra marathon preparation, but a bit dated. In particular, I'd love to see more about the most current approaches to hydrating and fueling with modern products, how to utilize wearable technology in training (HRV, sleep, etc) and in ultras (battery life, alerts, etc), as well as more about the trend of barefoot/minimalists running.

All of this stuff in this book is super basic and can be applied to any race. I was looking for something to take me from marathons to ultras, but there really isn't any new info in here.

It's a good book for a person who hasn't run longer distances at all and perhaps want to venture into a new distance, but it's really not helpful for transitioning from marathons to ultras.

As a novice ultramarathoner, this book was excellent. It goes through every aspect of the race, from choosing the right race for you, the training process, the race itself, and even what to do afterwards. Looking forward to taking this knowledge into my next race. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good Read!

I have run over 50 marathons and want to keep running marathons. This is a very well written and entertaining book and everything said can be applied to marathon training as well. For that, it is well worth the read.

What a great book to learn from as a beginner. It gives you a good foundation of what you need to do for nutrition and training. It walks you through what needs to happen to complete a race. And then how to celebrate after.

It was ok. It was very high level and probably things you already know. Some of the information is already outdated. Still, if reading about running is something that keeps you motivated, you can spend a couple hours doing that with this book.

Very basic information. If you have run numerous races in your life, there isn't much in here for you. This may be helpful to someone who is truly new to racing.

Excellent first guide to Ultra

This UM Bible guide includes practical advice not spelt out in other guides I have read. Great general introduction to an amazing world.

Like the subtitle says, this is for beginners. Since I’m up on the ultra marathon world, I did not learn anything new or glean much.

While most of the information in this book was common sense to a seasoned runner like me, it was still a good read for someone considering running an ultra. If anything, it reminded me of things I had forgotten about. Nice, quick read!
