Chosen By The Dragon Kings
When I was a child, my grandma used to tell me stories. At the time, I never gave them much thought. Thinking they were just that… stories. Growing up, I soon realized that they weren’t lofty fantasies and fairy tales, but memories of her past, memories of our ancestors before our world turned to shit. You see, what comes from legend, no matter how exaggerated the story becomes, there is always a sliver of truth. You just need to weed out the fiction from fact. My grandmother used to tell me stories of the Chosen One. The one who would save us all. When I was younger, I used to believe that what she said was true. That eventually someone would be born, just as the Oracle predicted. Someone who could save our souls and bind us back to our magic. Once I grew up and saw the world unfolding around me, I no longer believed in salvation. The chosen one seemed to be more of a prayer than reality. Some dream we wanted desperately to come true. Something for which we all prayed and prayed. Something in which we needed to find hope when there wasn’t any left. When our ancestors turned their backs on us, how were we expected to believe in this so-called salvation? Especially when all we witnessed was death and carnage ever since the great war. Nothing except pain and poverty. I used to believe the stories, and used to pray for the mysterious chosen one that would rid our world of its evil. Now though, I see it for what it really is, just a dream of hope. Some out of reach fairy-tale. A story to create hope. Hope is dangerous; it makes you believe things will get better. I stopped hanging on to hope when I witnessed firsthand that it caused nothing but heartache.

Not a fan of this one, mainly because one of the men in the harem is straight up AWFUL. He beats the ever loving HELL out of Elora several times, yet she falls in love with him. He literally kills innocent children in front of her as a way to punish her…Yet she falls in love with him. It goes on and on endlessly, and almost none of it is even addressed. It just...happens. Over and over. She is beaten halfway to death, someone gives her blood to heal, and the story goes on, most likely transitioning directly into a smut scene. There is never any real redemption.
I’ve read plenty of dark romance novels but this isn’t one of those. This is glorified abuse and romanticized psychosis at best.

1st book i read with a harem. Im trying to decide what to say. 1st of all, the authors writing still was fine. I found the book engaging. The plot did lull at times but overall, she did a fine job. Now lets talk about Elora, thr main character. If you like balsy, brassy women who are independent and in charge..well. she definitely turns out to be that girl. If you like books where men fall over their feet for the girl, again, this book is for you. The sex scenes were decent. I had a hard time with keeping up with who's body part was where but that's bc we're talking about a foursome.
The book starts with Elora living in the city with her grandmother, barely getting by like everyone else. They are Fae and in hiding, pretending to be humans. Blending in. The city is ruled by the dragon kings-3 of them. They are mated to each other and low and behold, she is their mate as well. Book starts off dark and delicious. They capture her and pretty much hold her hostage as the mate bond takes hold. There's so many twists and turns but basically, she has the ability to lift the curse off the Fae. (Which she does). The alpha dragon, Silas, eventually becomes pussy whipped as the other 2 dragon kings and lick Eloras toes. Blah blah. The dragon cruse is lifted when Silas dad dies. And Elora gets all the credit for turning the ruthless city back into a habitable town where all creatures are welcome.
Side note- Elora got on my last effing nerve.

Jessica Hall has created a beautifully tormented world of fantasy, exploring themes of hope and bitterness which is evident in characters such as Silas, Elora and Blaire. I would also be inclined to say they are also evident in background characters such as Victor, Abigail and Pluto. Although despite the bitter and cruel society these characters find themselves in, they decide to survive holding onto the hope that one day salvation will come. However, this is a tale as old as time, where stories are not fiction but memories derived from legend, and all you have to do is identify fact from fiction. Will they live to see the day of Salvation, from their predecessors crimes?

The story is narrated by Elora, a twenty-year-old who has been living in hiding for years as a refugee from the wars that occurred before her birth. As the last fae of the Aziza royal bloodline, her death would mean the extinction of her species however, choosing to live would also be a death sentence, so rather than choosing for herself, she chooses to live on behalf of her would-be kingdom. And in doing so, she would feel the wrath of her neighbours - The Dragon Kings.
The narrative begins with Elora reminiscing about her childhood, filled with tales spun by her grandmother only later to discover that the tales are memories before the War. Elora recalls a savior prophesied to restore magic and salvation however, as she matures and witness the cruelty of her world she becomes doubtful of the possibilities of Salvation. During a daring late night journey into a local village for medicine, her path finally crossed with a Dragon who realises she is his mate and captures and imprisons her alongside his other mates for the sole purpose of breaking a curse; the very curse her ancestors placed on them. Over 100 years the Dragons have been dying out as a result and they would do anything to break her and the curse; and kill her if required.
This book is an onion with so many layers!!
The key to understanding how society of today came to be, you have to understand it is a result of ‘the War before the War’. Through pride and greed, and a tale so old it could be fiction, one kings actions wiped out an entire bloodline and broke the treaty causing cataclysmic events.
It is safe to say Jessica Hall masterfully showcases the impact of shattering beliefs and worldviews through the 4 main characters transformative self discovery journey and their acceptance of what the world truly is.
Character development
Elora, the protagonist, 'hope' diminishes as she encounters the three Dragon Kings, Silas, Matitus, and Dragus, who are dominant alpha males. As a result of their tyranny she looses herself, her faith is salvation and welcomes death as you would a long lost friend.
Even when the 3 Dragons become more humane and less monster, they are still obsessive in an unhealthy way - to the point they give her Stockholm syndrome and somehow despite all the bullshit they feed her, she claws her way back to who she is and what she believes in - equality, freedom and respect.
I acknowledge and recognise her primal instinct to submit to a predator, particularly Silas, but do feel the repetitive abuse the dragons inflict upon her and each other is questionable to the extremes of worthiness for forgiveness and redemption.
Towards the end of the story the Male MCs personalities evolve for the better although they each continues to display tendencies of controlling sociopathy. Whilst 2 of the 3 Dragons grew a moral compass, one did not and I didn't feel he was worthy of redemption until a particular event that takes place sometime after chapter 85 that makes him re-assess his ways
So where are we going with this….
The introduction of the three alphas became challenging to read because whilst I loved everything about their characters despite being chauvinist pigs, I did get bored and frustrated with the repetitive dark themes of abuse at the cost of our protagonists core values as a strong female lead. While I think it was required for the development of the characters and plot, the literature and writing style could have been improved in this area to bridge the gap between chaos and redemption. Ultimately, the prey-predator-mate dynamic does work and becomes vital to the progression of the storyline and subsequently everybody's character development. Even through these dark, brooding males, J Hall identifies that 'Hope' exists as long as you never give up.

You can really feel JH love for writing is beyond imagination as she invites you into her fantasy world. I really enjoyed this book and think with an editorial and peer review to reflect on the minor grammatical errors along with the consideration to rephrase sentences, this book could be a fantastic success in the fantasy world. She takes the conventions of lust induced romance & infuses it with graphic, scandalous mature content & language; guaranteed to make you blush. You can’t read fast enough but equally don’t want to finish.
Did I buy this book? Yes.
Will I re-read? Most likely.

Fyi my reviews are purely for me to look back at later and to understand what i thought about it and why gave it ___ stars. 😅
Oke, well first of all this relationship is one big ass red flag 🚩, but i still loved it 🙈😂. Honestly, ik ben een moodreader en had gewoon zin een soort van (sorry) wattpad achtig verhaal haha. I mean het is niet het beste boek ooit zowel qua verhaallijn als writing, maar I enjoyed myself, soo 3 stars.
Lots of spiceee (likeee a lot) 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️.
Vond het wel teleurstellend dat de relatie vooral om Elora ging en haar mannen, maar niet echt tussen de mannen ondanks dat ze wel mates en getrouwd waren. Had dat meer willen zien.
Daarnaast was het één grote knipperlicht relatie (vooral tussen Silas en Elora). Vooral door snel vergeven, maar nooit echt communiceren. Oh and Silas had some serious issues, waar hij nooit echt aan heeft gewerkt, maar aan het einde is het opeens helemaal weg zijn issues ?!?? Did feel for him to (so tortured…), i always feel for the tortured ones 🙈.
Also, kinda annoying dat ze steeds boos op elkaar worden over dingen die ze zelf (of iets soortsgelijks) ook hebben gedaan. Like huh ?!? Oh en niet naar elkaar luisteren. Ugh.
Het boek was best lang voor de verhaallijn. Ik denk dat het boek beter was geweest als het korter was geweest.. Like op mijn kindle was het nu 614 pagina’s, en het denk ik echt gekund in minimaal 100-200 pagina’s minder. En voor de hoeveelheid vond ik het jammer dat we zo weinig zagen van haar krachten. Like, she is supposed to be the strongest Fae ever, maar dat zien we bijna niet terug. Ik denk dat dat echt nog meer er in had gemogen en dat dat het verhaal sterker had gemaakt.
Al met al, denk ik dat de cute moments er voor hebben gezorgd dat het boek 3 sterren heeft gekregen van mij (also because I’m a moodreader). De cute moments hebben het zeker van de irritante momenten overwonnen, oeps haha. Ik zou het niet zo snel nog een keer lezen (vooral omdat het zo lang is), maar vond het wel leuk!! Nu will ik meer dragenshifters, werewolf, RH boeken lezen :). Ben in de mood daarvoor :)

The story of this book was great. I like how Jessica Hall spins her worlds, lets her characters develop and turn a positive spin on the story. I'm also really glad, that she actually but this story out as a book as I first encountered it on a pay-to-read-app which are horribly expensive.
That said, this book needs some serious editing and I'm not only talking about missing words, grammar and spelling mistakes; I'm talking about rounding out the story, transitions, explanations, a plot line that was dropped and not picked up again and lots and lots of repeated sentences/words.
It also needs a serious disclaimer for violence against the heroine/domestic abuse and coercion.
It's not okay that she gets slapped around, hurt left and right and then the story just goes on after she gets healed just to be slapped around again. I mean she does get her backbone and stands proud, but one of the protagonists is still an abusive jerk and it's not appropriately dealt with, not even in the end. A promise to do better while still having rage fits is not enough in my opinion.
In the end, if you can deal with the abuse while reading, it's still a book about love, mending past wrongs, trying to do better and saving people/a race while also acknowledging that what you did was wrong even if you had the best interest of ppl at heart.
I think this book can be even better if properly edited.

It was good, the story did drag at times but decent overall.
I hate how Silas constantly beats the shit out of Elora and she constantly forgives him. I liked the blood promise at the end but Silas seriously needs some therapy. Elora needs a backbone, not constantly forgiving and fucking Silas.
The other 2 were brilliant. Taking Elora’s side and being there for her. Didn’t really like how they both forced her to speak to Silas when she was so terrified he’d kill her.
There’s a few loose ends. The Aziza sword is mentioned twice and then it just disappears with no mention of it again. And the deformed dragons. What happened to them? Did they all get Elora’s blood or did the curse break or what? We also never hear about the fae in hiding. They band together for a few pages to follow Elora outside the borders and then they’re never mentioned again. They never find the fae settlements or venture outside the borders once the curse gets broken. Their son, Darshan, he’s part fae and dragon but we never hear what he gets from his fae side. He becomes a dragon but does he have any magic? Anything from the fae besides purple eyes?
I am definitely re reading the book but just needed a bit of fine tuning and editing before it made it to publishing.

A good read ,possible spoilers
The beginning of the book was strong and got me hooked but at the middle I was in two minds weather to stop reading but I continued and I'm glad I did the ending was nice . The reason I say This is the female character started off as a strong female character then turned soft and would be told off by silas and let him walk all over her then something would happen then she would become this strong determined women and then silas would put her in her place again or he would touch her and all was forgiven and I thought that was going to change when she got her powers but she hardly used them. Not saying silas didn't take her arguments and try doing stuff to change just at times it felt like they were all in a verbal and physical abusive relationship with silas that's why I deducted a star. Over all the concept of the story was great that's why I have given this book 4 🌟

So i am basically going to rank in order of the characters in the books:
MFL - I really liked the female lead, but she was annoying a few times in the novel. But her fear later down the line was totally valid and it was quite nice to see the author shows that there are just some things you can only do to your partner that can be devastating not just cheating. But I w8sh she has no forgiven the first male lead so quickly, but she was a good character overall.
3 ML - so there are basically 3 male lead the first one I didn't like his character at all andi wished he was removed to suffer from the sidelines for all eternity however, I liked the fact he was shown the possible future if he continued his actions.
Other side characters - the side characters were everything to me and, I think, made the plot more interesting to read further and see what happens to them. I would into more detail but I do wish the author explored them a but further in the book.

Harémová harlekýnka jedné ženy a tří mužů.
Rasa víl a čarodějnic je téměř vyhlazena, přežívají skrytě pod nezájmem a krutovládou dračích pánů (dva se mohou měnit v draky) v jediném městě, které je nejspíš i celé království. Na jednoho z nich narazí vílí hrdinka. Ukáže se, že je jejich osudovou družkou a poté nemá na výběr, musí je přijmout za partnery, byť by raději zemřela. Magicky vytvořené pouto v ní neustále vyvolává chtíč po nich, čemuž se ochotně poddává. Jeden z trojice je silně agresivní, netrpělivý a pokrytecký, což vyvolává konflikty. Kniha se snaží mít zajímavý obsáhlý příběh, který ovšem pokulhává, nebo je přehlušen sexováním.
Postelových scén je nadmíru s opakujícími popisy. Příběh se snaží mít zápletku sahající do historie, která se s blížícím koncem vyšumí. Postavy celkem dobré. Skutečnost, že než je potkala, žila mizerně a poté se nechala přivlastnit bez valných protestů a jakékoli jiné svobodné volby byly tabu, zde není moc zmiňována.

Na jednoho z nich narazí vílí hrdinka. Ukáže se, že je jejich osudovou družkou a poté nemá na výběr, musí je přijmout za partnery, byť by raději zemřela. Magicky vytvořené pouto v ní neustále vyvolává chtíč po nich, čemuž se ochotně poddává. Jeden z trojice je silně agresivní, netrpělivý a pokrytecký, což vyvolává konflikty. Kniha se snaží mít zajímavý obsáhlý příběh, který ovšem pokulhává, nebo je přehlušen sexováním.
Postelových scén je nadmíru s opakujícími popisy. Příběh se snaží mít zápletku sahající do historie, která se s blížícím koncem vyšumí. Postavy celkem dobré. Skutečnost, že než je potkala, žila mizerně a poté se nechala přivlastnit bez valných protestů a jakékoli jiné svobodné volby byly tabu, zde není moc zmiňována.

You have message instead of massage, and at some point she has an orgasm that WATCHES over her, like it's a sentient being.
It constantly knocked me out if the scene and is not something I am accustomed to with Jessica's books.
FMC seemingly had no spine. Silas almost killed her numerous times but as soon as he wiggled his d!(k at her she was begging, please sir can I have some more.
Silas had no true reception arc, he was still angry and while he did lose someone he didn't sacrifice like Elora did.
Everyone just telling her to get over the fact he beat her up and threatened to take her child was so strange.
It gave Stockholm syndrome vibes after a while.

I had to persevere to finish this book. I had hoped that it would improve but unfortunately it didn’t.
Sections explaining past events were ill written and difficult to understand which made it hard to fully comprehend the context of said past events. I also felt the writing was overall poor.
One of the main characters is seriously problematic and there’s a continuous cycle of abuse, affection and abuse again. If you’re meant to be ‘mates’, I don’t understand why this cycle exists.
There’s a few predictable plot twists which degrade the plot further. There also feels like a lack of consent from the MC during the spicy scenes as they use her to their advantage, the girl was just a virgin for Christ’s sake.
On the other hand, there were some redeeming moments and character development that lifted my rating to 2/5 stars.

Good story line
I chose to give this a 4-star rating because I love the storyline, but the grammatical errors and the rushed ending of the last handful of chapters left me feeling like I didn't get the whole story. Now I am no grammar nazi, but between the miss-spelled words and the sentences that made no sense whatsoever because of random word placing, it was very frustrating having to spend extra time on a single sentence to gain its understanding. My most loved and hated character would have to be Silas. His anger issues had me wanting to slap him through the book, but his love and devotion to his mates makes you wish you had a Silas in your life. Despite the flaws in the writing that I previously mentioned, it is a great story. Would definitely recommend.

It was ok.
Was a great read sometimes, other times it was a bit cringe. There was some grammar issues with a plural of something missing or something else similar which left the read sometimes feeling disjointed. Overall I thought the world building was ok, the back story was uncovered perfectly and the story telling during dreams and visions was great. If I had a chance to redo it, unfortunately I wouldn't have spent $7.50 on it. Would have been satisfied with the book if it was part of the Kindle unlimited subscription but because I spent $$ my review was harsher as I had higher expectations.

i cannot believe I read this entire book. Absolute garbage. The messaging here is let your partner beat you MULTIPLE TIMES and just forgive him. Let him treat you like trash, but because he eventually kind of apologizes then it's all good. Also totally fine that he literally committed genocide against the FMC entire RACE but he made a little statue for her, so like, totally good and fine now, right??
I read a lot of trashy romance but this was a new level. Do not recommend. I feel like I finished this out of hate reading tbh.

Needs editing and frustrating MMC
This book needs a good editor. Paying for a book that has that many grammatical mistakes is annoying.

Silas isn’t redeemable in my opinion. He’s just physically abusive and doesn’t seem to truly think his behavior is awful. The FMC is annoying too because one scene he’s super abusive and the next she’s just accepting him like nothing happened. I spent most of the book frustrated and annoyed because of this.

CLEAR explanations of warnings would have been nice.
I tried to stomach getting through it. The fact that the male leads are not "gentle" with the FL is an understatement. They are downright toxic, without any remorse, and the FL is just a wimp being pulled around by a shitty mate bond. The world building and drama and action are amazing, but the relationship between the characters is a hard pass for me. I wish I had read a CLEAR description of it before I paid for the book.

Good book, but I highly recommend revamping this book. So many errors. Grammer mistakes, misspelled words, the plot and storyline all over the place. Whoever was in charge of the final edits should relook at the final product. I would love to reread when it makes sense. Love the author and she hits a spot you didn't know you're missing. 2nd time reading it and still find the story amazing. Yes, I see the abuse, but it just shows that both are trying so hard. It's so hard that Silas realized that if he continues, he will truly be all alone. Stubbornness and hard headed and pride are very strong, but love is so much stronger. Binged the absolute heck out of this book. I loved that the book wasn’t just about a bunch of dudes fighting over a woman. They all loved each other and there was no awkward jealousy in that sense. Most reverse harem novels shy away from the men being intimate with each other, this book didn’t and thats what made this story so compelling. Great job author!

I love this book so much. This is my go to book to reread when I have a break between other books. I think I've read it 5 or 6 times in the past year. In fact, I think I'll start reading it again tonight. :) The story is awesome. It takes you through all of the emotions. The characters are very well written. You leave the book feeling like you know them.

Wonderful dark story
If you can get pass all the many grammar, typos, or misspelled words, then you will find a pretty nice story. It was very detailed story. The characters are very well defined in their own individual storyline that all comes together to make a complete story of a world lost in turmoil, love, steamy moment's, and fire all around. Really glad I gave it a read.

Really well written
Beautifully written, but not for you if you find men trampling over their partners in the name of being dominant men frustrating, I found myself wanting to rip my hair out at the shit the main character let slide lol that being said I couldn't put it down and did have to finish it

Hard to put down
Seriously, it was hard to put this down. The storyline was amazing and the character growth was above and beyond. I laughed, cried, and got crazy angry. I highly recommend reading this book.

A bit loopy with the leads back and forth but so good. Just the right amount of smoking out scenes and lovey dovey too. I enjoyed the way the city transformed as well.

This is a pretty good book, there are some grammatical errors, but over all the story is good. This is definitely a dark read, there is physical, mental, and emotional abuse so please use caution when reading. The story ends well, but the idea that the characters will take two steps toward and five steps back is accurately portrayed in this book. Things are now always as they seem. Overall each character grows and learns how to balance their wants from their needs and the needs of others.

That was very Rocky! I really really had a hard time liking Silas. He was just yo dam volatile. He never really made up for what he did! The other two didn’t either for that matter! I really kinda wish she’d of made em pay a bit! But the ending was decent!

I loved it
As usual Jessica Hall wrote an amazing story. She has a unique story telling style that I love. There is a perfect amount of angst, drama and heat. I do wish Silas had groveled a bit more, but I do love a good grovel. Overall a wonderful story that I highly recommend.
