There are many sides to every story, but which one will you believe? Your powerful husband is dead, the world as you know it has been turned upside down, and your only child has been ripped from your arms and sent to a distant land without the love and protection of his mother. You didn't even have the chance to say goodbye ...
What would YOU do?
For Shannon it's simple; do whatever it takes to save her son and restore her family to power. Deception, lies, and an unlikely unforeseen romance lie ahead ...
I had not previously read any of the other books in the series, so there may have been some background that I was missing out on. In a way though it gave me a perspective to look at the events of the book for the events that happen. It is a tale of how what you knew may not be the way to go forward. One of the strongest things it shows from different characters is that you can stagnate and become bitter if you stay stuck in the views of your past. You also endanger any hopes that you may have for the future. Unfortunately, Shannon has to learn this lesson the hard way from her own actions. The hold back is that there is so much that is going on. Makes things feel a bit overwhelming as you read. All of this does help with the lessons to be learned, yet it is almost too much. The all the events going on almost cause you to lose sight of the focus of the tale. Overall good quick read. I received this as an ARC copy and am voluntarily reviewing.
This is part five of this short series and I really enjoyed reading it. Throughout the series before this book, I was not fond of Shannon, though my heart did go out to her at the end of part four.
It was nice to see her side of the things that went on during parts one through four. It made me see her in a different light. And although she is a widow and I can understand her thinking on things, I do hope she doesn’t let an opportunity to be happy pass her by.
I can’t wait to read the next book and see what Shannon decides. I would also like to see Angus’ views as well.
Part five of this Scottish historical romance puts Shannon in a different light, after spending time alone locked in a cabin its showing her as a loving Mother towards her Son. And with reflective thoughts on her past it brings out kindness and Motherly thoughts of Darra. It also brings out a sadness in Shannon when she reflects on her meddling behaviour towards Samuel and the Clan. This book also shows another side of Shannon and Angus perhaps affair of the heart .I received this book as an arc and this review is entirely voluntary.
In this book you read how life goes on, and tells also about the other characters, like Samuels stephmother is going to live on her own, and Angus who likes to visit her. But there is also love in the air with them, and that makes it also so nice and exiting to read. Will they tell it to each other? Do they feel the 'tension' in the air, sparkling in their eyes? It gave me a satisfied and good feeling when I finished the last book of the serie. For me it is worth a 5 rating star. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The fifth and final part of this Scottish historical romance. Maybe the reader will find it tricky to keep tap of what has happened in the previous parts. Fills in some background to previous parts. Widow Shannon is unhappy about her being supplanted, her meddling in the local politics sees her son unceremoniously removed from her to live with the other clan. The hint of a possible romance for Shannon… I received this book as an arc and this review is entirely voluntary.
I have read this series through book funnel as free review copies . Have to say this is not really my genre but I am always willing to try new authors and stories .
This series comes in five short stories of medieval times , of battles with clans and romance if this is what you like then have a read and enjoy .
How nice to read the story of Samuel's stepmother. In the Love in the Highlands series, Shannon was portrayed as the evil stepmother. In this story you can read her reasons for this and at the end I found myself admiring her for the way she lives her life. An open end of the story in which the reader can fill in the story of Shannon and Angus
This was a really enjoyable quick read that is perfect when you want to read but short on time. This story will take you away for a short period of time to place where you can forget your worries and relax for a while. It moves along at a nice pace, has interesting characters and a story that you must read. This book needs to be read, no doubt about it.
This one is a sort of retelling of the story but from the 'villain', Shannon's point of view. We learn more about her side of things and see she wasn't really so bad and she gets a happy ending. I wasn't as keen on this as it was mostly reviewing the original story, but the romance was nice.
