I only made it through the first book and I had to push to do that. The characters were fine. Everything else was lacking. The story was BORING. The dialogue dragged. In fact, I don't know when I've read something that was as hard to push through when it wasn't because of internal dialogue. Usually, when there is this much dialogue between people, a book is easier to read.
The spicy scenes were uninteresting and wouldn't have been as great for Rachel as she claimed. Honestly, they seemed like they were written by man without much experience.
The editing was bad. I'm pretty sure the 2nd oldest brother, Asher, was originally named Pete and she failed to find and fix all the locations. There were something like 30 occurrences of "pete" and 951 of Asher in the 5 books. (There were 90 something of *Pete but the app doesn't let you search for " pete" so that the words like "compete" don't pop up, so 30 is an estimate.)
Just in the first book, there were a lot of things that weren't well researched or wouldn't have made sense IRL. For instance, they had both watched each other at previous Olympics, had both won metals, but had never met. Yet this year, they see each other at the training facility, which I think we're lead to believe they would have shared 4 years earlier. None of the male swimmers had met any of the female swimmers even though most had competed in the last Olympics. That isn't realistic at all. They probably would have been on talk shows together even if they hadn't met at practice or at the games.
The timeline didn't work. They skipped a few weeks.
I always find authors suspicious when their books only come in collections. I ignored my own suspicions because of the high ratings. I won't make that mistake again OR read more by this author.
I was a bit confused because the one brother is named Asher and half the time they refer to him as Pete. No explanation. This leads me to believe that the author changed his name part way through, did a “replace all” for Peter but forgot all the times it had been shortened to Pete. Made for a disjointed read at times.
Most poorly edited books read. One character's name went from Asher to Pete in every book in series through out each book. Like forgot who writing about. As well many wrongly placed words. With some proper editing could of been at least a 3 star series.
I'm shocked at all these great reviews. Getting through the first book was a total slog. Partway into the second one, I threw in the towel.
It isn't clear if this is supposed to be a YA romance or a template driven example of one. Either way, it's impossible to get through. The stories are flat and lifeless. Everything is about telling, not showing. The writing is oddly lifeless. I can't picture the characters based on the writing. The whole Olympics story read like a high school swim meet.
Worst of all...no heat whatsoever between the leads. Sex was like a paint-by-numbers ordeal with no passion. Just awful, cardboard, and not sexy in any way.
I struggled with the idea of a dying father laying such a responsibility onto an 18 year old. Maybe 100 years ago, sure. But in this day and age, to tell an 18 year old that they were in charge of raising 4 other siblings is truly reprehensible. That cardboard death scene convo overheard by one of the brothers was terribly done. And what the hell is with the brother with 2 names? Pete? Asher? Seemed more like an editing error and not a real thing. It was never explained, so I'm going with the editing error theory.
Otherwise, nearly all the secondary characters are just template people with no real character development. The controlling father of the girl swimmer? Check. The jealous, overprivileged rival of the male lead? Check. The wild child youngest brother? Double check. This is all Writing 101.
I couldn't finish this package deal due to the dry, hollowness of the writing, lack of any character development, and high schoolish sturylines.

A fantastic box set about five brothers overcoming not one but two emotional tragedies at young ages to become the best man they can be. Each story is full length, filled with suspense, secrets, strong men and strong women finding love in an unexpected way. His/her POV, no cheating, no cliffhanger and all getting a HEA after struggling through obstacles. Addicting from the first story through the build up of the last story. A MUST READ that will have each brother and his significant other taking a piece of your heart with them. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
I really wanted to give this series 5 stars, but I just couldn’t do it. The storylines kept me interested. The characters were well developed with their own unique personalities. After reading for a while I had to question whether a mistake was made and the first draft was printed instead of the final product. The author seemed to put a lot of thought into the stories, it just boggled my mind that no editing whatsoever was attempted….there were numerous errors. I don’t think I have ever read a book with so many errors. I looked to see if an editor was listed in credits, but there was none. Why would an author put in so much time and effort to create interesting storylines with well developed characters and fail to have the books edited?
I gave a 5 star because I liked the series. I liked all the brother's stories and how they each delt with their Mom's leaving and their Dad's passing. There was some was confusion with the brother Asher who was sometimes refered to as Pete, it detracted from the story line. On another point,I think it's time for a conversation with your editor. He or she is falling down on the job. He or she certainly didn't read the books. Some words didn't make sence in the context of the sentence. There were added words or missing words that threw off the reading so I had to go back and re-read to try and make it make sence. Good luck.
This is an amazing collection of stories about five brothers and their daily lives and how they find their lady loves. Each story draws you into wanting to know more about the family and leaves you wanting more when you get to the end. One I started this box set I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining collection. This is a collection any book lover would enjoy.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book for Bad Boy Update.
Five brothers who endured a difficult childhood venture down different career paths. A box set that includes Athletic Brother, Cop Brother, Doctor Brother, Firefighter Brother and Fighter Brother. Five full length romances with each book concentrating on a different brother and the strong woman who captures their love. A great series with a good story line and an HEA. All books are full length. I read an advance copy via Bad Boys Update and voluntarily chose to review it.
Wow! I really loved these sweet romance stories. They were wholesome. I loved all the plots. They were well written. All characters were developed and easily relatable. My personal favorite was Sam. Too funny! I hope all the proofreading edits were made. Lots of mistakes.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.
This is a great collection of stories that are a must read. It’s about five brothers and how they fall in love. Each is different but enjoyable. I couldn’t put it down wanting to find out what happened next. When I got to the end I was hoping for more. I received an ARC for an honest review which I have given.
I loved each brother's distinct personalities. Had a hard time putting it down. Storyline was very real. The family dynamic was authentic. Every family has difficulties, but nothing so great that time, understanding and genuine love can't heal. It really captured my heart.
Stories were good but require serious proof read and editing. Can’t figure out if second brother is named Pete or Asher as name changes so frequently. Spelling, grammar and factual error that cause serious plot holes also happen frequently. Parts also repetitive for no reason. Would rate higher if edited properly
Arc review For honest Review in these series of books are all romances . how each carter brother finds there fated and with different careers that take them down different journeys and issue . you will definitely enjoy this box set
Five smoking hot brothers each get their own book! Each book has a great story line and a woman that they never knew they needed, but can't live without. Great set! I received this ARC from Bad Boy Updates.
I really enjoyed this book, reading all the brothers stories, one after the other was great, I really felt connect to them. I loved how they all overcame their worries and fell head over heels for their women.
How each brother approached life after two tragedies. Each had worked hard to gain the jobs and respect they do. Each said that they were not the committing type after their early life, but things can change in an unexpected way
I like the story and the characters. There are a lot of grammatical errors and some wrong names. Also, I didn't understand why everyone would randomly call Asher "Pete". It was confusing. Overall, the stories are good.
I enjoyed every book in this series! The storyline running through all the books made it connect so well from book to book. Yet the stories, while all being romances, each had their own storyline, making each story individual though connected.
A great story of a family who overcame great odds. Five brothers who dealt with struggles and became strong men who found their happily ever after. I think each story just got better as you became more familiar with the back story. Really enjoyed this.
A thoroughly enjoyable read! Five brothers that are also different meet the girl that they never new they wanted. All five stories are enjoyable and you will not be disappointed. Highly recommended 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I would recommend this series for mature readers, that enjoy romantic stories with happy endings. Each book in the series is a complete book with familiar characters.
really enjoying these interrelated stories of these brothers. would like a bit more spice though! there are a few errors in this text. the biggest one being that they keep calling the brother asher Pete. author must have changed named of this main character and missed it when she published.
Absolutely loved this series. The Carter men have had life's now as adults they are finding the love of their lives and coming to grips with the past. A must read series.
I enjoyed this box set. There are five Carter brothers in this collection. Doctor, cop, firefighter, an athlete & a fighter. I got a copy of the books via BBU. And am voluntarily leaving my review.
Really enjoyed this series about 5 brothers who all basically swore they would never find true love and yet they did. Despite the many editing errors, it was a very enjoyable read.
