When Christmas is the time of year you hate the most, what does it take to make you love it?
Polly Snowflake hasn't celebrated Christmas since her father died on Christmas Day when she was fifteen years old and, twenty years later, she has avoiding the festive season down to a fine art. That is until she meets Maxwell Watkins, a fully-fledged lover of Christmas, who vows to thaw out her frozen Christmas spirit.
Taking the idea of an advent calendar, Maxwell sets a different ADVENT-ure each day from the 1st to the 24th December, covering all manner of wonderful Christmas delights. As they spend time together, Polly begins to wonder if Christmas is the only thing she’ll be opening her heart to. That is, until Maxwell’s glamourous super-model ex-girlfriend arrives back on the scene...
Will this be a Christmas for Polly to remember or yet another she’ll want to forget?
Kiltie Jackson spent her childhood years growing up in Scotland. Most of these early years were spent in and around Glasgow although for a short period of time, she wreaked havoc at a boarding school in the Highlands.
By the age of seventeen, she had her own flat which she shared with a couple of cats for a few years while working as a waitress in a cocktail bar (she’s sure there’s a song in there somewhere!) and serving customers in a fashionable clothing outlet before moving down to London to chalk up a plethora of experience which is now finding its way into her writing.
Once she’d wrung the last bit of fun out of the smoky capital, she moved up to the Midlands and now lives in Staffordshire with one grumpy husband and another six feisty felines.
Her little home is known as Moggy Towers even though, despite having plenty of moggies, there are no towers! The cats kindly allow her and Mr Mogs to share their home as long as the mortgage continues to be paid.
Since the age of three, Kiltie has been an avid reader although it was many years later before she decided to put pen to paper – or fingers to keyboard – to begin giving life to the stories in her head. Her debut novel was released in September 2017 and her fourth book was a US Amazon bestseller in Time Travel Romance.
Kiltie loves to write fiery and feisty female characters and puts the blame for this firmly on the doorsteps of Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables and George Kirrin from The Famous Five.
When asked what her best memories are, Kiltie will tell you:
1. Queuing up overnight outside the Glasgow Apollo to buy her Live-Aid ticket.
2. Being at Live-Aid.
3. Winning an MTV competition to meet Bon Jovi in Sweden.
(Although, if Mr Mogs is in earshot, the latter is changed to her wedding day.)
Her main motto in life used to be “Old enough to know better, young enough not to care!” but that has since been replaced with “Too many stories, can't type fast enough!”

Review for 'A Snowflake In December' by Kiltie Jackson.
Read and reviewed for Kiltie Jackson and Zooloo's Book Tours.
Publication date 8th October 2022.
This is the first book I have read by this author.
I was originally drawn to this book by its intriguing cover and its hilarious sounding synopsis and title. I have also just read several crime, mystery and thriller books so was looking for something more light hearted and this looks like it will fit the bill perfectly.
This novel consists of 48 chapters. The chapters are short to medium in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is based in England, UK 🇬🇧 . I always enjoy when books are partly or fully set in the UK as I'm from Wales and have sometimes visited areas mentioned in the book. This makes it easier to picture where the scenes are set at times. I have in fact visited and gone on holiday in England on many occasions so am looking forward to possibly recognising name places.
This book is written in third person perspective and the protagonist is Polly Snowflake. The benefits of third person perspective are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.
🎄 🎅 🎶 It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!! ☃ ❄ 🤶
What an absolutely fantastic laugh a minute, heart warming, stunning must read!!! Absolutely loved it fairplay!!! This book has fantastic descriptions that set you straight in the scenes. The cover, title and synopsis suit the storyline perfectly.
I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVED this stunning, unique feel good festive page turner. That good that this is actually the BEST festive book that I have ever read!!
The storyline itself was absolutely unputdownable so make sure you clear your schedules before starting to read it!!
This is the third festive book I have read this year and I am extremely tempted to put the tree up!! I have read many festive books over the years but this is genuinely the best so far!! This book is an absolutely stunning read that is perfect to lift your spirits!! It is filled with romance, friendship, family, love and of course Christmas!! The vivid descriptions had me feeling the snowflakes in my hair, shivering in the cold, tasting the festive food and seeing the Christmas lights. I absolutely adored the unique storyline of Polly's boss's twin brother trying to being back her love for Christmas by giving her 24 AdventURES. It is absolutely the most romantic thing I have ever seen in any book and I just couldn't wait to see what Maxwell had planned for the next day. Each and every AdventURE was filled with thought and love and I was completely lost in the book exploring all the different "doors" with her. There were some that made me laugh, others made me gasp and a few that shed a tear or two. They were beautiful, thoughtful and sweet as well as being unique. Kiltie takes you through a magical Christmas walk, sledding with Huskies, decorating for Christmas, glass blowing, gift giving and so so much more. This really is the most beautiful book to read before, after or during Christmas. Whether it is a heatwave or you are a Scrooge this book is guaranteed to leave you feeling festive and with a smile on your face. I would absolutely love to see this beauty turned into a movie and I will be at the front of the queue to go and see it!! Kiltie's writing skills will absolutely absorb you into the book and whether you are in the world you will be sucked into the world of lights, snow and magic in the blink of an eye. Move over Maria Karey, A Christmas Carol and Santa Kiltie Jackson is the new face of Christmas!!!
The characters were all an eclectic mix and each one of them were realistic and strong. I was completely in them all and I already miss them even though I have just closed the pages. I absolutely adored joining Polly Snowflake in her Christmas AdventURES and watching how she changed from someone who dreaded Christmas and hadn't celebrated for 20 years to a big child playing with the Christmas toys was absolutely beautiful to watch. I could literally feel her happiness and Christmas spirit growing. Polly came left London and moved in as a stranger and ended up being surrounded by people who became friends and like family to her. I loved the way she got her job with Marty who is such a larger than life character. Marty and his partner Andy absolutely LOVE Christmas and it is when his brother arranges to deliver their office Christmas tree when the magic begins. Marty made me laugh so many times with his attitudes and work policies. Marty wasn't just Polly's boss but became a good friend and its through him we meet the absolutely gorgeous Maxwell. Maxwell takes Polly on her adventURES and becomes more attractive inside and out with every thoughtful event. When he dressed up at Santa my heart clenched with Polly's and we both had tears running down our eyes. Maxwell definitely wins the award of the most romantic man I have ever "met" in and out of the real world. We definitely need more Maxwells in this world!! I love the fact that both Polly and Maxwell have a love of books being a huge bookworm myself this definitely added a connection!! I also adored Maxwells parents especially his Mum who doesn't mince her words and says it as it is!! Definitely my type of character!!! I absolutely could not stand the attention seeking Laurel and would have loved to give her a good slap!! She definitely gets the award for being the most despised character I have ever met!!! Such a horrible brat!!! Anyway I won't give her any more writing space!! I'm sure you'll see for yourself how I feel! These characters (apart from Laurel) were one of the best group of people I've ever 'met' and they will stay with me for a long time!!
What are you waiting for?!? Pick up my favourite festive feel good page turner and get ready to get sucked in to the stunning scenery and romantic adventures!!!
A MASSIVE WELL DONE to Kiltie on a HUGE success!!! I loved every page of your book and I cannot wait to read more past and future amazing books. This is exactly why you are now my FAVOURITE festive author and I cannot wait for your next page turner. Here's to your next success 🥂!

Well, wasn’t this just the loveliest read? I always love it when I can engage with a heroine from the very beginning, and Polly Snowflake is totally adorable – she’s just not much of a fan of Christmas, not surprising when it’s the anniversary of her father’s death. She’s moved from London, leaving a relationship behind, to the Peak District – lives in a rather lovely house, that she shares with characterful cat Bailey. She’s (understandably – what a boss!) unhappy with her current job – but things change when she crosses paths with Monty, who shows her an act of real kindness, then offers her a lovely new job as receptionist in the men’s fashion business (high end!) that he runs with partner Andy. Only problem is that Monty absolutely loves Christmas – and her first task is to decorate the office and put up the Christmas tree.
But she has help – Monty has a twin brother, Maxwell, who’s twice his size, and an ex-model to boot. And when Maxwell discovers how Polly feels about Christmas, he starts his mission to make her learn to love it again – with a different daily activity every day in the run-up to Christmas. The ADVENT-ures are simply wonderful – a candlelit procession (I loved that one!), a wreath-making workshop, a visit to Santa (AND a ride in the sleigh), a trip across the snow pulled by huskies… and so, so much more. And the pair grow ever closer, as Polly starts to experience the magic of Christmas – until Maxwell’s high-maintenance ex-girlfriend shows up, and throws everything into uncertainty.
The characters are just superb, wonderfully drawn and developed – and if I loved Polly, I certainly grew to feel the same about Maxwell (my goodness, he’s SUCH a lovely man – and really hot!). And all those wonderful outings – sheer unadulterated fun and joy at times, but with the occasional one bringing a tear to the eye as it triggers memories of her dad or her past life. If you’re not feeling particularly Christmassy when you pick this book up, I absolutely guarantee you (like Polly) most definitely will by the time you’re approaching the end – and that ending really was absolutely everything I wanted it to be.
This might just be the most Christmassy book I’ve read this year – everything that shouts “Christmas” is here, and I loved every single moment. And the slow-burn romance is just glorious – a few stumbles along the path, but you just know that a happy ending won’t be too far away. Quite wonderful – and very highly recommended.
Oh my, well this was rather beautiful. Featuring Polly, a Londoner, relocated to the Peak District working for an awful boss, until one day an accidental chance encounter with an idiot on a mobile phone, introduces her to Maxwell. He realises she doesn't like Christmas and sets out to make her fall in love with it again, with a series of Advent-ures, an activity every day from the 1st of December. As Polly and Maxwell enjoy their joint adventures, they both open up, and reveal more about their past lives. I loved Polly, one of life's wonderful souls with a big heart, and if there's another Maxwell out there somewhere, can they send them my way please. All the other characters had their own important parts to play, and with the exception of Laurel who I'd quite like to b*tch slap, were wonderful. Despite being a bit of a grinch myself, this has left me feeling all festive, and craving hot chocolate. A really heart warming read, and one I think I might need to revisit every December.
Aw, I loved this Christmas tale, filled with the hope of happiness after years of sadness. Polly is not interested in Christmas at all. Still, a chance meeting with fashion designer Monty, and his not identical brother, Maxwell, sets her on a 24-day journey to rediscover her love of the festive season. Or an Advent-ure, as it is called. After discovering why Polly doesn't do Christmas, Maxwell makes it his aim to reignite that enjoyment. I loved how this started as a simple friendship that blossoms into something more, but there is still the 'will they-won't they?' element as little blips keep appearing in the way. And what a great set of festive Advent-ures that Maxwell set up for Polly! I want to have a month of the same! A wonderfully feel-good festive read that leaves you feeling all warm inside, rather like the hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows that the characters seemed to indulge in, rather a lot!
The happiness of Christmas, with a feel good magical festive feel of the Peak Districts. Polly Snowflake is saved by Monty Watkins. Maxwell Watkins his twin brother shows up, and her heart melts, he is so drop dead gorgeous, and even better news is Monty offers her a job. Polly does not celebrate Christmas after her beloved Dad suffered a massive stroke on Christmas day and she hated it all ever since, but Maxwell does his utmost to help her love and celebrate it all again by doing Advent-ures days that are full of surprises to the run up to Christmas day. This book was so delightful to read and I did have a thing for Maxwell who wouldn't. I just flew through this beautiful story that has a few downs as well as ups for this couple. Yeti and Snowflake are made for each other, this is one perfect read for Christmas for me, that left me with such a warm feeling. 10/10.
If there's one thing that I like doing, it's discovering new authors. Kiltie Jackson is certainly a new author for me. I read the synopsis of 'A Snowflake In December' and it certainly sounded like the sort of fun and festive read that I particularly enjoy at this time of year. So without further ado, I grabbed a cup of tea, grabbed my Kindle and settled down for what proved to be one hell of an afternoon of reading. I adored reading 'A Snowflake In December' but more about that in a bit.
I loved the character of Polly Snowflake and I warmed to her from the very start. I soon felt as though Polly had become a friend of mine and I began to feel all protective of her. In a way Polly felt like a kindred spirit and I could see where she was coming from as regards her dislike of Christmas. Like Polly, I lost my father shortly before Christmas and Christmas has never been the same for me since. Polly is a lovely, kind, sensitive and compassionate young lady. Without giving too much away Polly meets a man, who makes it his mission to make her fall in love with Christmas again through a series of challenges and experiences. There's definitely chemistry between the two of them. I kept everything crossed that Polly would fall back in love with Christmas and at the same time get the 'happy ever after' ending that she so deserves. What happens? Well for the answer to that question and so much more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
Oh my word, I am not sure that I can adequately put into words, how much i adored reading this book but I will certainly give it a whirl. As soon as I started reading, I knew that I was not going to be able to put the book down. My Kindle wasn't exactly glued to my hand but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn't bear to miss a single second of the story. Part of the reason why I loved the book so much has to do with the fact that I loved the characters and I cared about what happened to them. Plus I suppose I wanted to see if I fell back in love with Christmas- the reason why I fell out of love with Christmas is similar to Polly's reason. To say that I became obsessed with this story is a slight understatement. This was one of those books that stayed with me before, during and after I had finished reading it. I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the book. All too quickly I reached the end of 'A Snowflake In December' and I had to say goodbye to Polly and her friends. I found 'A Snowflake In December' to be the true definition of an unputdownable, page turner of a read and then some. I loved the characters and I loved the story. In fact there's not thing that I didn't like about the book.
'A Snowflake In December' is superbly written. Kiltie has one of those easy going writing styles that is easy to get used to and easy to get along with. In fact reading this book felt more like a chat between friends rather than reading a book. I hope that makes sense. Kiltie clearly cares about her characters and this shines through in the very vivid and realistic way in which she describes them. She makes her characters seem just as real as you and I. I always think that the sign of a good book is when I become far too involved in the story to the extent that I interact with the characters and talk to them as if they can hear me - that's exactly what happened with 'A Snowflake In December'. I love the way in which Kiltie combines the drama with the humour. I frequently had to laugh out loud at some of the scenarios that were described in the book. I loved the way in which Kiltie makes the reader feel as though they are part of the story and at the heart of the action. That's how I felt anyway.
In short, I adored reading 'A Snowflake In December' and I wholeheartedly recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Kiltie's work in the future. 'A Snowflake In December' has to be one of my favourite reads of 2022. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.
I can't even begin to explain how charming, wonderful and amazing this book is. I absolutely loved it. The concept of the story was just so unique and not one you come across in books very often.
It was a pleasure of a read, loved the storyline, very entertaining throughout. I enjoyed getting to know the characters especially the two main characters Polly and Maxwell, loved seeing both of their stories play out. All the characters were very well written and thought out, some of them had such great personalities that made them come alive in the book.
The story itself, was just seamlessly written, flowed really well, there was always so much going on, as well as a few laugh out loud moments. There was lots of elements/scenes that I loved and enjoyed throughout the story and this was just one of them:-
So I’m not a fan of football, but I absolutely loved the advent-ure day 8 which was attending a football match where the players were all dressed as Santas and Elves and their hilarious funny antics throughout the match such as the Santas and Elves did a mini Gangnam style dance whenever a goal was scored.
There was just so much to love about this story that I could literally write an essay about it, but I'm not going to lol, so instead, I suggest you go read the book yourself and then you'll know exactly what I'm on about and hopefully like me, you'll fall in love with the story too.
Oh and one little tip, don’t read this book on an empty stomach as there is mention of so many yummy delicious food and homemade bakes throughout that are likely to make you hungry for sure.
Polly is a bit of a grinch; she doesn’t engage with Christmas for heartbreaking understandable reasons and she’s just split up from a rather horrible human being… This is before she’s left unemployed by a witch (not a real one mind you – this is a Christmas book not Halloween). But a chance meeting with fashion designer Monty (who I adored as a character) gives Polly something to look forward to; and it’s not just the new job at his company… his delicious brother Maxwell.
The different Advent-ures Maxwell takes Polly on are brilliant, diverse and definitely festive. They’d thaw any grinch’s heart in my opinion but did they reignite the love of Christmas for Polly? I got goosebumps as the relationship between Polly and Maxwell developed. I was desperate to see them both happy after they’d both been hurt by past loves.
Jackson has written a scrumptious feel good Christmassy tale that I gobbled up like a big fat slab of Christmas cake (I love Christmas cake). This is the second of Jackson’s novels I’ve read and she’s hitting my feel good reads list with massive ticks. Kiltie Jackson has made me feel all Christmassy inside and I can’t wait to get going with the festivities. If you love worriers like Christie Barlow and love a bit of Christmas, you need to read A Snowflake In December!! ❄️🎄❄️🎄❄️🎄
I was completely smitten by this book from the very first chapter. Something about the character Polly just drew me in straight away and from then on, I couldn’t put this book down. Polly is such a dear character. Moving from London to the Peak District and away from her ex she seems to be finally finding peace with her life. The one things she hasn’t managed to come to terms with is celebrating Christmas as it coincides with the anniversary of her father’s death. Maxwell is such a sweetie. His bluntness/foot in mouth moments made me chuckle and he was just so endearing. He’s one of those perfect book boyfriends we all love to daydream about. His twin brother Monty is a delight too. I loved watching Polly’s journey towards changing her perspective of Christmas and beginning to learn to enjoy it again. I adored how Maxwell really encourages her to take small steps daily (a Christmas advent but with activities rather than food) to work towards this. Filled with gorgeous characters and a festive vibe, this book is adorable and uplifting. I loved the countdown to Christmas – and became excited like a small child as each day grew closer. It’s the perfect festive romance book and I absolutely devoured it.
If you're feeling as festive as a rancid mince pie in the run-up to the festive season, this book should get your bells jingling all the way… Packed with Christmas spirit, it's a delightful romance sprinkled with marshmallows, magic moments and memories that will bring a tear to the eye. Polly Snowflake (I did wonder how many people have that surname, but — hey — it's fiction) has good reason to avoid celebrating the supposed happiest time of the year. When she stumbles into a new job, working with twin brothers Monty and Maxwell, Polly has little idea of what's in store. Because one of the brothers is determined that, after twenty years of dodging the big day, she deserves a chance to rekindle the love for all things Yuletide. I loved all the Advent-ures and the cast of characters. Well, apart from one, who'd be better suited to Halloween — 'the kind of person who was more intent on winning rather than looking after the prize she'd won.' More devil horns than cute elf costume, but I'll say no more. Full of heart, this book is the perfect read when you're channelling Scrooge rather than Santa. Ho, ho, ho!
This is a light, gentle festive read. If you are looking for a story which is full of all the delights of Christmas, this has to be the one for you. Polly has a likeable, slightly deprecating sense of humour and a vulnerability which people can recognise. Trauma from her childhood has affected how she views Christmas. From the moment Polly meets Maxwell and his twin brother, Monty, her life takes a different direction and there seems to be a sprinkle of magic over the chance meeting with them.
The setting is gorgeous and full of seasonal touches. You can absolutely imagine all the celebrations and the different festive activities which Polly attends. With a varied cast of characters, some of whom you like and a couple you don't, there is plenty of scope for humour. Past relationships also reared their heads and throw light on Polly and Maxwell's characters. This is a fun read for a wintry weekend.
In short: festive romance Thanks to the publisher for a copy of the book
A chance encounter between Monty and Polly Snowflake finds her working for him, but it’s only when she meets his brother Maxwell and confesses to avoiding Christmas at all costs does the fun really start. Maxwell is determined to rekindle Polly’s love of Christmas, and so the 24 days of Advent-ures begin. This book had me laughing out loud at some of the things Maxwell arranges for her to do, plus a few poignant moments when I began to discover why Polly doesn’t celebrate Christmas any more. All the characters are wonderfully written and while although I couldn’t quite picture Maxwell in my mind, I could easily see and hear Monty, and at times felt a little bit jealous of Polly and the things she was doing. This is a gorgeous story and perfect for the winter nights when all you want to do is curl up with a good book. I would also recommend reading this while drinking a hot chocolate, preferably with all the cream and marshmallow toppings to get the full experience. Once again Kiltie Jackson has produced a fabulous book and I really can’t wait to read her next one.

A Snowflake in December is a cosy Christmas feel-good read that gets you in the festive mood. So get the book, the brandy, some mince pies, a comfy chair and a blankie and your set. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I want to thank WickedKilt Publishing, author Kiltie Jackson and ZooLoos Book Tours for a copy to read and review and for a place on tour.
Ahhhhh what a lovely shiny chocolatey Christmas belter this is ‘Snowflake’ really has everything anyone could want in a Crimbo read, a will they/wont they romance, great humour, delightful descriptions of all things Christmassy and much much more Polly is out of love, she has no want for it and she has very personal reasons for not liking nay loathing Christmas, a chance encounter with twins Maxwell and Monty could be about to change all this as the sparks fly between Maxwell and herself and Maxwell sets an advent task to see if can she love Christmas again It’s a lovely, heart warming magical read and will have you joining them as they indeed do many things Christmas orientated that lead to the big day Perfect read for pre Christmas and the happy season itself and the author as always excels in making you feel good as you read
I knew I would love this book the minute I read the blurb. I was not disappointed!
Polly has had a rough time and Christmas is not something she even entertains. But then Monty enters her life and with him comes twin brother Maxwell.
Each character comes alive as you read and they all (with the exception of Laurel) warm your heart and make you smile. Genuine, kind and funny you can’t help but wish them well and hope for the perfect outcome.
There are some bumps in the road and I will say there were moments when I cried.
There are many references to the death of Polly’s dad when she was a child and also a short reference to childhood cancer which had me sobbing. But everything is dealt with in a gentle and respectful way.
I just loved this book - it is feel good, fun and a festive must. Perfect for the winter months.

A lovely feelgood Christmas read. Great story and characters. 5*.
This was an absolute delight to read and I adore everything about it; Polly's surname Snowflake, can you imagine having such a Christmassy name all year round? The Advent (ure) calendar, what a fantastic idea, perfect to get someone back into the spirit of Christmas, and Maxwell, lover of anything and everything festive.
As well as having its upbeat, heartwarming moments, it also has its emotional moments, especially when Polly recounts what happened to her father on Christmas Day. The story is beautifully written, has some absolutely adorable characters, that by the end of the book all felt like friends and I was sad to leave them behind.
It's a gorgeous tale of finding love, hope and happiness. And is definitely up there as a Christmas read that I will revisit again and again.
Many thanks to Zooloo's Book Tours for my tour spot.
What a perfectly lovely seasonal romance, full of festive spirit. Polly Snowflake is someone who has lost all her Christmas spirit due to past events. The book starts with a major mishap which leads to an introduction to a fabulous designer and his company and when Polly finds herself in need of employment, she knows just where to go. Cue the tall, jaw droppingly handsome brother, Maxwell, who vows to bring back Polly’s festive cheer by creating an Advent of advent-ures, all Christmas themed.
A joyful, funny, heartwarming romance blossoms between Polly and Maxwell until in walks Maxwell’s ex, Laurel, the beautiful, thin, model who looks set to put an end to anything before it really gets off the ground.
I defy anyone to read this book and not get in the slightest bit giddy about Christmas, it certainly warmed my heart.
OMG I just loved this book! All I keep seeing is this title on my TV screen as a Hallmark Christmas Movie 2023!
The idea of the book is fabulous…24 “Advent” ures.
The characters are as always brilliantly written as only Kiltie Jackson can do. Each one there for a reason, no extras that are a waste of words.
This book catapulted me into the Christmas spirit, snuggled me in a toasty blanket with a nice cup of hot cocoa and wrapped my world up in a beautiful sparkly red bow.
I have read all of Kiltie Jackson’s books and can say each one has done the same thing, grabbed me from the very first chapter, kept me entertained and intrigued to see where the story will take me and filled me with happiness at the wonderful story I got to experience because of her beautiful writing!
Always enjoy discovering new to me authors - although I can see that she is already an established author - but one that has passed me by till now.
Loved the concept of a Christmas hater getting together with someone who loves the festive season. Polly hates Christmas after losing her dad on Christmas Day. She meets Maxwell when she decamps to the Peak District who loves this time of the year and aims to change her mind.
He comes up with his own version of an advent calendar. From 1 till 24 December, he sets a different festive activity. What a fabulous idea. But will it work??
Loved this one - a story of happiness after a period of sadness with plenty of will they, won't they moments. It left me with a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Such a lovely and heartwarming coming-back-to-Christmas story, with the traditional romance mixed in it, and which has a sweet way of dealing with the delicate subject of not liking a festivity because of something sad that once happened on that date, and how we can heal and, hopefully, enjoy the season again. Because, all in all, the last thing those who taught us to love it would want is for us to stop enjoying it when they are gone. It is full of nice and likable characters, and even the one character that is not-so-likable is such because of good character development, so great job from the author, not only in presenting us with a lovely Christmas story, but also some great advent-ure ideas to try out during the season! 😊
When Polly meets Maxwell she has fallen out of love with Christmas and all things festive which is ironic as her surname is Snowflake! Polly lost her dad 20 years ago on Christmas Day and since then lets the festive season pass her by, Maxwell challenges her to let him take her on an Advent-ure starting 1st December. I love Christmas and all the wacky, wonderful Advent-ures they shared immediately made me feel the festive love, glass blowing, wreath making, nutcracker painting, Christmas Bingo and a Santa’s Grotto for adults to name a few made me feel I was in my own personal Winter Wonderland. Could see this as a fabulous festive film with a lovely romance running throughout.
Oh wow just the perfect Christmas read. Gorgeous Christmas activities and a relationship simmering nicely - what more could you ask for underneath the Christmas tree. I loved Polly from the very beginning - to have lost so much it was perfectly understandable that her feelings for Christmas had changed over the years. The ‘advent’ures with Max were great fun and so original, and I loved seeing Polly begin to find new memories to have at Christmas time and I’d definitely have liked to join in with some of their days. A brilliant festive read and one that I think will be a favourite each year.
I knew from the blurb that I was going to love this and it certainly lived up to my expectations, what l like most about Kiltie’s books while being romantic stories is that the characters are strong independent women that don’t fall apart once the male character is introduced. Polly is a warm caring person but one that takes no nonsense and I feel that the author’s personality is reflected in their main character,I’ll be rereading this nearer to Christmas again to re boost my enthusiasm. A lovely five star read that will make you smile and laugh in places
I blooming love a Christmas romcom and this is no exception. Someone who has a traumatic past leading to them falling out of love with Christmas- check. Someone with baggage waiting to trip them up - check. A cute family to help things along - check. Snowed in, cosy movies and winter animals - check. I loved all the characters, the setting, the advent-ures. This was just such a fun read, I'm actually quite jealous of Polly, her December sounds like the most fun thing! Really quick to read I devoured it in 2 sittings. Perfect to curl up and get cosy with!
This is the first time I’ve read this author and I found her book, ‘A Snowflake in December’ , to be a heartwarming read. Nothing taxing here, utterly predictable but not in an annoying way because you anticipate it with the genre. Each chapter focuses on the protagonist Polly engaging in all our favourite Christmasy pastimes on every day of advent in a bid to find a new found joy for Christmas. I’ll not put any spoilers here, but the ending won’t ruin your Christmas. Make yourself a hot chocolate, put on your favourite cosy slippers and grab your fleecy blanket for this Christmas treat.
I have to say, I usually don't read Christmas books until December but when this book came out, I couldn't resist. This author is one of my favourites and I'm yet to find a story I didn't love (I won't hold my breath). Well, here I am now. All full of Christmas spirit ready for some mulled wine and mince pies.
Great characters as always, hunk of a lovely man also never hurts. What is not to like? Exciting experiences and yummy treats, this book had it all. There were times I felt the cold of winter day and smell of cinnamon in the room, all through the words in the book. That's how deeply you fall into the story.
Some may say it's too early but I think all year round needs feel good reading. This was such a lovely book with sweet people and a gorgeous storyline bringing people together.
I feel this would have been a great book even without Christmas but to me it's been getting me in the festive mood this week and I've been getting some Christmas ideas to do with the children. I also loved all the yummy food references and will be looking up some of the ideas to try in December.
If you love Christmas and romance, yule love this book 🎄
