We discovered our baby no longer had a heartbeat at our 20 week anatomy scan. Very few people knew we were pregnant because we planned to send holiday cards announcing the pregnancy, and I found it to be a very lonely experience. This book was helpful to channel and pause my spiraling thoughts. It will not take away your grief (which the author candidly reminds you upfront), but it will provide tangible methods for supporting yourself, defending yourself, and moving forward. The author offers lots of medical clarifications which I appreciated. The entire book will not be relevant to your unique experience but reading the irrelevant parts will help you understand the breath of pregnancy loss and help you feel less alone. It is quick read worth trying. The references section is also full of additional resources which I found more helpful than deep diving into Google searches.
This is a must have for anyone who has suffered loss of a child directly or indirectly. I got a chance to read this book a month after I had a stillbirth. This book has helped me go through this traumatic experience much stronger than I would if I hadn't read it. Heather did a great job. Pregnancy loss is not something people talk about with ease, it's surrounded with alot of negativity and blame.
I received a promo code to read and review this book. I love that Heather read this book on Audible! You can feel not only the comfort in her words, but the sorrow and compassion in her voice. "I'm deeply sorry that you had to pick this book..." Heather offers her heartwarming empathy as she takes us on a journey into acknowledging our loss, making space for grief, finding support, reducing stress, and moving forward.
I got this book for myself to try to learn how to navigate and support my cousin who recently miscarried. I have a little boy and couldn’t imagine what she was going through. This book helped me gain a clearer understanding of how I can help her through this. I appreciate how thorough it was and even shared things you SHOULDNT do or say to someone who recently experienced a pregnancy loss. Definitely recommend
This is an amazing book to help you feel not so alone in the loss of a baby or pregnancy. Heather, through her personal experience, is giving a hand to other women and families who have lost. This is a must read if you are struggling with a loss or have struggled with one or more!
Absolutely loved reading this book. It’s shown me I’m not alone with going through this. It has helped me and my husband through our miscarriage. I would recommend to anyone going through the loss of a baby or someone who knows someone who has.
I listened to this book on Audible. Heather has a wonderful way of putting things into a normal person's jargon. My pregnancy loss was over a year ago, but I still find at times that I struggle with it. I was able to take many things out of this book.
Loved reading this book after going through a loss myself. It really helped me to feel as if I wasn’t alone. It really lifted the veil on the topic so often mired in shame.
A beautiful book full of helpful information for those experiencing the heartbreak of pregnancy and infant loss. Heather touches on what to expect during a loss and some beautiful ways to heal, connect and navigate through life after loss.
