The Art of Counter-revolutionary A Psycho-politico Military Strategy of Counter-insurgency by John J McCuen 1966 Hardcover. A very rare, and scarce, OUT OF PRINT Hardcover. This is the FIRST EDITION from Stackpole Harrisburg, PA 1966 8.5 x 5.5, blue cloth, 349 pp with index
You can read this book as a conceptual treatise on counter-insurgence or as a military history of the Indochina, Algeria, Greece, and China revolutions. The style of the writer may seem too dry for modern audiences. Recommended for specialists and historians, not so much for generalists -excluding, as usual, the introductory and concluding chapters
This a great, over looked work on counterinsurgency. McCuen does a good job of laying out a sensible counter to revolutionary war and providing the reader with may best be termed options. At times, McCuen is long on history spending long passages describing events in order to make a point. However, it is one of the few counterinsurgency studies to take a survey approach rather than attempting to draw lessons learned from one or two conflicts.
