Rate this book
Riley Thomas has made some mistakes in life. She took a few wrong turns and has no idea what to do next. There's a blizzard baring down on the island and Riley is alone with two kids under the age of four. She's out of options, exhausted, and overwhelmed.

An omega on her own always has to be on guard, but with her two girls counting on her to keep them safe, there's no time for a pity party. Seeing no other choice, Riley accepts an invitation to ride out the storm with one of the locals.

Little does Riley know, everything is about to change.

This book is set in the same world as the Ruined Records duet. However, Riley's story takes place four years in the future. There are a few things that will likely make more sense if you read Left in Ruins and Madness first, but it was designed so you can jump in here if you prefer. There are a few crossovers, but this is an entirely new cast of characters.

I’m arguing with old technology so this review will be short.

I went in expecting omegaverse smut with a single mother slant. It was SO MUCH more than that. In fact, I wasn’t expecting it to be a slow burn of sorts. These men, these beautiful, sensitive, well-written characters! They outshone the h unfortunately, but dang I was impressed with this author’s writing in making these characters actually have depth and decent character arcs!

It’s a plus that the kids are cute and not annoying.

A BR with the fabulous Isabella who always picks the best stories for us!

Riley is an unbonded Omega with two young daughters, alone on an island with a blizzard coming in. She's beyond exhausted, overwhelmed, and has no idea what to do next. All she knows is her two little girls need her to stop making mistakes. They depend on her. So, when an Alpha plays the hero and offers her shelter and safety for the night, she has no other option. This is one decision, she will never regret. Cannon, Jasper, and Killian never realized their lives were missing anything but the moment Riley and her girls enter their world, they know they can never let them go.

Normally I am not a big fan of single mother stories. I think as a single mom myself, it hits a nerve. Reality does not live up to fiction! However, I could not get enough of Cove and little zombie, face-eating Lily. Adorable doesn't even begin to describe them and the story would not have been nearly as good without them. I look forward to Cove's story with Ravvi. I didn't realize the tie-in with the Ruined Records duet but from the moment I realized it, I was thrilled. I loved the duet and would have pre-ordered this one had I been paying better attention. I own it now, so all's good. Anyway, while this book is quite different from the duet, it is equally entertaining. Ms. West has a way with characters. They are fully developed, have intricate histories, and are flawed in the best ways. Then she places them with other wonderful characters and builds solid relationships. Sounds easy but it is not. In a literary world of fluff, her books have substance. This book wasn't overly dramatic but it was super entertaining. Second chances, a mom trying to give her daughters her best, men trying to be the heroes she needs, happy babies, loving families, deepening friendships, and a touch of karma. Everything I could ask for!

I was in a huge reading slump but this book got me out of it. I love RH Omegaverse especially when it has single parent trope. The girls were absolutely perfect and adorable. I loved that the book was smutty but also had a plot and was so cute. 💫

« Mount her. Rut her. Claim her. Breed her. Right then, my brain is officially an asshole. » Finn is the most hilarious one. Killian is so hot and broody. Jasper is such a broken lovable person. Cannon is the responsible and sensible one 💖

« "Normal is dreadfully boring anyway," Finn and Ryder say in eerie unison. They grin at each other. Good God, I think we're all in trouble. » This has convinced me to read the other 2 books by this author. 💙

4 Mount her. Rut her. Claim her. Breed her Stars ⭐

Our heroine Riley hasn’t really known love or support by those that were supposed to provide it. Now with an ex who’s left her high and dry, she is an unclaimed Omega with two young children to care for. Completely alone during a storm, an act of kindness by Cannon who she’s just met, sees him not only offering a haven, but a new start for her and his pack.

I feel like I'm failing at everything. I keep bending, wondering how much further I can go before I break completely. Honestly, at this point it feels like an inevitability rather than a possibility.

There is nothing sexier than a man smitten over a toddler and a baby. But four of them? Your ovaries don’t stand a chance. This author knows exactly what she’s peddling. I mean it starts with Cannon fussing over this young woman and her children at his bar. Yet the minute Riley is in their home, gorgeous and tattooed Killian and Finn are playing house like they were born for it. Jasper is a wildcard at this point.

"I can't help but wonder if I fell into a Hallmark movie... Am I in a coma? Did I fall into an alternate dimension? Land in a place where random guys help out with kids that aren't theirs?"

Not Many Options is a slower paced OV romance. Initially the storyline feels a little flat but as the story progresses it makes sense. Neither Riley nor the men are looking for relationships. But when love hits, you must either realign your mindset or miss out. So begins this lovely courtship between the five of them in between the children getting smothered in an abundance of love.

"No, I want you." Riley rises and falls one final time and my knot slips inside her. "All of you."

The tight clench of her cunt on my cock steals all the breath from my lungs. "Fuck me," I manage in a breathy whisper. "You've gone and bloody done it now, darling."

Let’s not pretend we are not here for the action. Cos I’m all about hearts, roses, commitments, yada yada. However, you will be judged on the steam!! And I appreciated the author providing it properly. You got to see Riley as a couple with each of the men and then the final explosion; plenty of knots! It gave the entire pack intimacy and romance credibility. Plus, the single mom twist was a welcome change to the OV.

BR with Rain. We eventually find the right fit and it’s always worth the crap you need to wade through to get there!

Not Many Options was refreshingly different with a young single mom omega of two adorable small children. She’s been treated poorly by the father of her children and had a hard upbringing before that, but at one of her lowest moments she’s brought into the sphere of a group of genuinely wonderful alphas who are supportive and loving of her little family. I really liked the premise and the characters, I just sadly wasn’t able to connect as well with the writing style. The story is written in first person, multi-POV. No ow drama, bit of om drama from the awful ex, none of the characters are virgins (only a small amount of history given but I think none of the alphas had been with an omega before, which I like), bc discussed.

This was a sweet, lower angst (for the relationship) read. Loved the details related to being a parent and esp the love for a child not biologically yours. There were wonderful supporting characters in the guys’ families and just all the love poured on to the h and her girls.

I felt this was a slower burn steam wise and slow build for relationships but the omegaverse steam comes, no worries, and each relationship is built individually and as a whole. This also had nesting, knotting, mate bites, and purring/barking.

While the main focus of the book is on the relationships, there is a bit of plot surrounding protecting the h and kids from the ex. Everything is wrapped up well and these characters get a solid HEA, including an extended epilogue that’s adorable and hints at a future book for one of the girls. Characters from a prior series are mentioned later in the book/epilogue and this did get a bit confusing for me since I hadn’t read that series but it wasn’t a major scene, just a tie-in.

I read this as a stand-alone and everything was very clear (except for 1 of the 3 epilogues, which you can skip if you didn’t read the Records duet). I thought this story was very sweet and balanced. It’s funny because I’ve left a few negative reviews lately on books in this genre for not having enough balance between relationship, character development, plot, and sex. I started thinking maybe it was me that was the problem, and this one has assured me that it was definitely those books that were the issue. This story has plenty of steam and we get a decent amount of character interactions that feel organic. There is a plot line outside of the relationship aspect of the story, although it’s a pretty simple plot it had enough tension and drama that it didn’t feel entirely like an afterthought (it was a bit predictable though). We still have relationship progression, and while things do move a bit fast especially considering there are kids involved, it somehow doesn’t feel too fast or sudden, they still manage to ease into things. Overall, I thought this was a good example of sweet omegaverse.

One thing- This is advertised as a holiday book, it is not 🤣. They did celebrate Christmas in the last 15 min of the book and it does snow a few times but that does not make this a holiday story.

I absolutely loved this book. I so glad the ex losers are no longer around especially hers. I kinda wonder what happened to Cynthia when when Jeremy’s stupidity came out.

One of the few omegaverse that doesn't have any MM so I bumped up a four star read to a five because at no point did the fmc feel like a convenient womb.

There is no other way to describe this book other than sweet Omegaverse - with an emphasis on sweet. The guys were great - different enough personalities to keep them apart - and sweet and caring in their own way. There's a good bit of spice. Riley, the omega, is just starting to move past a bad relationship with the father of her two young children when she stumbles into what will be her pack. Not everything is sunshine and roses, but there is no angst and the drama that does arise is addressed quickly. The kids in the book are not annoying. Their presence leads to some very cute scenes.

I wanted to read some omegaverse so I picked this up and it was fine. I’m definitely going to forget everything about it within a week but it also mostly satisfied what I was looking for. This book deals with some sensitive topics (and not very well in my opinion) but generally I would call this pretty low angst and cozy. I usually don’t like low angst and cozy so I’m sure that’s part of why this didn’t work for me. If you do like that, this might be a hit.

I loved absolutely everything about this story! For being a stand alone the author does a great job of fleshing out the characters. At first I was hesitant because of some of Riley's past experiences but the guys were perfect! I really liked that Riley had a choice. At any time she could have chosen to cash that check and left. I hate when characters have no resources or choices and I liked that Cannon addressed the power imbalance and made sure to let her build the other relationships first. It helped that she'd been broken up with the ex for her entire pregnancy. I liked that she didn't go from one bad relationship into another relationship right away. Without that I might have had a different opinion!

Finn was awkward and socially inept and it was adorable. I loved Killian's protective streak and that primal kink omg! Yes! Even some breeding kink later on. Cannon's dirty mouth had me 🥵! Jasper's evolution from bachelor to step dad was so perfect I was laughing out loud! this is a low angst read even with some of the serious subject matter. It's not as gritty as the Ruined Records Duet but Riley had been through a lot and I loved seeing her happy ending! The first epilogue was great with the crossovers.

Super sweet omegaverse

Genuinely an adorable hilarious read. I loved this sweet omegaverse. We meet some old characters, and a new omega who finds her forever pack. A pack who doesn't know their a pack yet, and a women who's been hurt and left with two beautiful kids who brings them together. I loved the storyline, and the characters do much. But most of all I loved cove. I swear that kid was hilariously adorable! I was crackling to the end with her commentary. I truly hope to read her story if she has one. Definitely recommend

This is my 3rd try with this author, I dnf the previous 2

Our down on her luck h is an omega mother of 2 very young children. The father basically paid her off and she meets one of the H's during that encounter.
With a storm approaching she's invited to stay with the men which of course leads to a HEA

I loved the interactions with the kids

Something about this didn't quite gel for me though 🤷🏾‍♀️ I'll try the author again I think

RH meaning no choosing yayyyyy

Gave up at the end of chapter 17. DNF.

Love the cover. Loved the set up with the guys. Story is taking fooooorrrrrrreeeeeevvvvvvveeeerrrrr and a day to progress. Everyone, in their own way, is tip toeing around Riley and making sure that they do not repeat Jeremy's mistakes that they are now just annoying the hell out of me. Repetition of actions but very little progression of plot.

Of all the guys, Finn would not have been my first choice for her to sleep with as he comes off as the goofy, stereotypical Irishman of the lot in a reverse harem and they actually haven't built up a relationship. He's just the funny guy who pops up. If anything, Killian should have been first choice as they actually built up a relationship, through the kids and by far have the most attraction.

Don't put a talking toddler into the story if the child is either talking at a more advanced level or when the kid talks in the story, it is in mispronounced dialogue. I loved that Cove plays a part in bringing up how kids learn through actions/seeing what their parents go through but at the same time as well Lily if anything is like a back burner baby character. She just serves the purpose of showing how Riley was overwhelmed with being a single parent child not bride.

The guys are stereotypes. The player, the carer, the funny guy, the loaded guy, the guy with the family issues, the dark haired guy, blonde haired guy, red headed guy.

Then, Riley was basically groomed/manipulated by Jeremy, yet she is not age mates with the guys and it doesn't matter that even with the oldest she still has chemistry. Like you can't set up your FMC to come from an abusive relationship to land in one with basically guys around the same age range with her ex, with the only caveat being that they care for her. Her being past 18/21 isn't justification. It was still roughly the same neighborhood, just different games.

There is definitely something about Riley Thomas.
I need to protect her, keep her safe, make her smile, help relieve some of that never-ending stress she carries around. Most of all, I want her to know she doesn't have to do it all alone.

📚 Book Review 📚
I love Jillian West’s brand of sweet, low-angst Omegaverse. Riley’s story is one of super supportive, all-in MMCs who instantly fall in love with the omega and her two children, giving her something she never had and craved - a family.

This is a fast-burn/insta-lust romance with a building pack. There are MF and MF+ scenes with the usual omegaverse elements of scent-matching, slick and knots, nesting, and heat.

Not Many Options can be read as a standalone, but it is tied into the greater Ruined Records series with several character crossovers. I recommend reading the duet before Riley’s story for the best experience.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧

not worth it

Look.
You get one MMC and you cultivate a relationship with them.
While the others really don’t exist and then we bring in another one and the first one doesn’t really exist and this author doesn’t do a great job of having them all together and cultivating relationships as a pack, or even as a group of friends.

It ends up, feeling really disingenuous and frustrating, and I end up not caring for anyone because I almost forgot about them because now we have this new relationship instead of an added on relationship

Just. Not a fan.

Holy hell. 🔥🔥🔥This wipes all other RH and omegaverse books out of the water. 🤯🤯 I did not want to put this book down for a minute and it seriously made me consider taking a sick day just so I could binge it. 😂

Riley is our resilient heroine. 🫶🏼Lily and Cove are the little ones she’s trying desperately to have a better life for. 😭But Riley’s got the worst kind of baby daddy, and life has beat her down. 😡She is waiting for said asshat in Nash’s one day when Cannon spots her. His alpha drive to protect rears up. And boyyyyy does he protect her. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I loved that he was pushy but thoughtful. Respectful and loving. Buuut the real magic is the entire pack.

Killian and Finn are freaking adorable. Killian has the whole huge cinnamon roll vibe 🥵(but he’d also beat someone to a pulp if need be) and Finn is hilarious. He’s funny and has a great backstory 🤌🏼 eventually you also meet Jasper who has a stupid amount of character growth. And the best part is not only how the take care of Riley but how they love her girls. They fill in every single gap and adopt Riley as their family 😭😭😭 it’s so freaking beautiful!!

I also love that the author started with a hero POV. I’ve literally never seen that before and it pulled me in. You get to see Riley’s predicament through a strangers eyes, which makes it all the more devastating 💔

What I loved:
Reverse harem
Omegaverse
Thicker than a snicker heroine with stretch marks
Breeding
Knotting
Nesting
Pack
Brotherly RH
A heat cycle
Biting
The spice
The underlying story
Literally everything

I have no notes for this. I will be buying a hard copy of it and rereading it until the spine breaks 😂

3.5 to 4, not feeling very committed to a score for some reason. Maybe since this book dragged out over the course of several (my) days.

It was cute and hot, I just had lots of questions. See below spoilers:

Peeves- they ask to court her (1x1), she says yes and that means they get to start having sex? No STD talk or relationship discussion? They didn't discuss that that meant they would have sex with her 1 by 1?
Does everyone else but me know what accepting "courting gifts" means? Because I thought it just meant that they were serious dating not "permission to fuck"! They had only known each other for a few days? Weeks? Timeline is not clear to me.

They frequently describe her as "tiny" or "tiny hands" but the woman is 5 8" with generous curves! And 4 months post partum. They feed the baby lots of formula, not many nursing references or men nursing references (wasted opportunity ;). Breastfeeding kink was not present, just breeding.

Also, quite insta, which is one of my aggravations. I get that the girls were cute, Riley smelled amazing and she needed help. But did these guys not have compatible matches before? Were they just hanging out at the Island being roommates and not actually looking for an Omega? Weren't any of them dating or did she just catch them between relationships?

I have so many questions!

Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Vibes ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
multi-1st person POV

This was my first read from this author and I enjoyed it for the most part! This is an omegaverse (no shifters) why-choose romance featuring a young single mom to 2 adorable girls (*cough cough* TW/CW grooming (in the past)). I'd argue that each of the men fell for the little ones before they fell for mama, and it was adorable. Our FMC, Riley, has an emotionally/verbally abusive ex (no on-page abuse other than some brief flashbacks) and each of the men do a great job helping her unpack her trauma (and eventually get her in therapy as well). It did feel like all of the individual relationships were developed more in the beginning (spending 1:1 time) and so there weren't many "group" activities until well over halfway through the book, if not even later. It made the pack feel a little disjointed but not too much.

I REALLY enjoyed the commentary/conversations that the men had to in terms of what word choice to use surrounding what happened to Riley:

"He has no business having two kids with a girl her age." "Woman," Sunde says, frowning. "Don't look at me like that." He flips us off with a dramatic wave of his tattooed hand. "She's an adult. It's insulting calling her a girl."

"Riley is twenty-one. Add in pregnancy time and he was having sex with a minor. You said he's older than us?" Sunde asks, studying Cannon's face. "Yeah.” Cannon sighs. "Excuse me," Sunde says in a disgusted tone. "He was sexually abusing a minor."

There were several punctuation errors, mainly missing commas in dialogue when addressing someone (ex: "How are you Riley?" or something like that) and it took me out of the story. The author also chose to put both the first and last names for each character's POV chapter which was kind of strange after they were introduced (if that doesn't make sense it will if you read this). But this is a fairly new author so hopefully with time (and resources) she'll be able to improve the editing. The first part of the epilogue is confusing if you haven't read her other works but it's not that big of a deal, especially if you plan to read them in the future. Overall, a fun and steamy read!

Genre and tropes: omegaverse, Why Choose, single mum

After reading the previous two books by Jillian West I was really looking forward to more books with her lovely characters and her way of bringing heavy real world topics into an omegaverse. I had the opportunity to read this book as a beta read, and I really enjoyed it.

✅️ A sweet single mum omega as our fmc
✅️ The two most adorable children
✅️ Amazing guys who form her new pack
✅️ Plenty of feelgood sweet stuff
✅️ Awesome courting
✅️ All the nesting and knotting 🥵

Of course there are some darker subjects brought up too, so check your triggers.

If you're looking for a super sweet story about a single mum finding her forever after with some pretty amazing guys, look no further.

The only reason I'm not giving this 5⭐️ is a more technical reason, as the writing could be improved, but in general I did absolutely enjoy this book. Jillian West has a way to create lovely characters who might have experienced some heavier things, but she manages to write them in a way that doesn't feel too heavy. I'll definitely keep reading her books.

I have been wanting to up a non-PNR omegaverse since they have been popping up everywhere, but couldn't find one without MM scenes. I saw this on a Goodreads list and I'm glad that I picked it up. If the author has more books like this in her backlist then I will be definitely picking them up.

This does touch on difficult topics such as suicide and grooming at a young age so keep that in mind.

It started off as a slow burn at first, but it did give us a chance to learn more about Riley and her soon-to-be pack mates. Don't worry though, the steam does pick up! I did feel like all of the guys had different personalities and that's great since we have 4 of them here.

I do have to say that this felt longer than the stated 320 pages. A bit of the day to day scenes made it seem that way to me.

All in all, I enjoyed this and hope to pick up more from this author soon.

My favorite so far

Very likable FMC and good story. There's a trigger warning at the beginning of the book for Hx of abuse but I would say it's almost not necessary. This book isn't dark at all. Actually prefer it to previous books because there is no drug use.
