She lost the bet. Now her heart is at stake. For Freya McDougal, the Highland Games are a matter of life and death. The Laird’s sister will do anything to break free from her traumatizing past, and nothing can stand in her way of besting every man in the Games. But what Freya never expected was losing to an Englishman.
Lucas Redderington, the Duke of Trenton, is in Scotland as a diplomat by order of the King to observe the Games. On his first night in the Highlands, Lucas finds himself in a fascinating wager with Freya; his victory over her in a game of archery, for a kiss from the fiery lass.
After the game, incredulous that an English Duke defeated her, Freya is even more surprised by how kissing the Englishman has made her feel! After their encounter, Lucas and Freya enter a dangerous dance since a scandal between them could ruin Freya’s reputation and endanger the Duke’s mission.
As they try to balance between duty and desire, they realize that what they both wagered away that night was their hearts…
