It’s Macy’s 21st birthday with her girlfriends on ONE NIGHT IN VEGAS. I wanted to read this book because it was a new series called Traveling Flings. That figures prominently in this story because both Jon and Marcy are in Vegas on this fated night, but unbeknownst to each other, they are also both from San Francisco.
I loved the whole “eyes meet across the crowded room” attraction that hit these two. But it’s just one night.
Eight years later their paths cross again, this time in San Francisco and in a work situation. Their one night together is something neither ever forgot but professionalism was at least going to be attempted.
I liked the book because while their road together is far from linear, always lingering was that initial “knock you off your feet” attraction. That made every setback and plot twist something to keep reading through until late at night. Good book.
I received an advance copy of the book from the author. This is my voluntary review.
Jon and Macy were both in Vegas for one night. Macy celebrating her 21st birthday. The instant eyes meet across the room attraction makes for an intense night of lust and passion. Jon is confused and angry when he realizes that Macy leaves in the middle of the night but 8 years later they’re brought back together in a working environment full of lust and attraction. They try to be professional and move past their one night of fun but their attraction turns to love in the most unique way. Jacob did an incredible job creating a love story unique to Vegas and the typical story that comes from it. This was a must read. Couldn’t put it down.
I feel a little let down by the reviews. But maybe this just isn’t my genre.
What I liked. I liked the premise of the one night stand brought back together years later trope. However, I’m not fond of the fmc becoming the mmc’s assistant or employees. That trope is boring and predictable.
Macy. I actually enjoy her quite a bit. I can understand her motivations. Walking out the first time, impulsive? Yeah. But to be honest, I think a lot of 21 year olds would’ve left in her situation as well. She also very capable. Her work ethics and ability made her seem like a great asset to the team. Her level of insecurities was also more or less normal.
Jon. He seemed hot. That’s kind of where it ends. Actually, he seemed like a good boss. That’s where it ends. His deep need for revenge was so childish. His lack of communication was astounding.
Other then that, the story is slow. And repetitive. I thought about DNFing it. But I sped read instead. The chemistry between Macy and Jon was very generic. I didn’t feel compelled by their relationship. Also, a ridiculous gripe. But the author clearly has not spent time in San Francisco. I grew up very close by (20 minutes away). Not a soul would go swimming in that water and say “the water is great” unless they love ice cold water. Only the hardcore swim there. And most surfers use a wetsuit. Also, the water is so polluted. Okay, that’s a personal gripe. It doesn’t affect my overall perception though. Overall…a quick read if you like this kind of light hearted mediocre romance novel
Jon Handcock met Macey Stiles on a Las Vegas weekend. She was there with a bunch of her friends and he was there for a bachelor party. They hooked up, and she left his room without leaving a note. He was upset because he felt a connection. He never felt like that before. Move eight years later, and they bump into each other in San Francisco, not knowing that they have been in the same city all this time. He has never forgotten her. Same with Macey. She named her cat Handcock. They hook up again, and he walks out on her. She's hurt but moves on. She works as an assistant for four professors at a university. Bored out of her mind. Working for these old professors gets tedious and hard to do. A friend of hers finds out about a personal assistant job. She applies for the job and goes through the formalities and interviews. The interviewing committee likes what they see. They feel like she was the best candidate for the position. She comes in for the final interview to meet the HR department and the CEO, and she is shocked to see Jonathan Handcock is her Jon. Sparks fly between them. A love-hate relationship. She is a great assistant, takes to the job, and is a great asset. But there is this competition between who will have the last hurt. They both care about each other, but the trust issues keep them from showing their true feelings. Sparks fly with the attraction they have. They both love each other, now to work out their problems. Great love story by Jacob Parker. You have me hooked on your books.
We start with them at 21 and 25 and the older they get the more immature apparently!
What I liked: - Jon is a great boss with a cool company - Macy isn’t a total pushover
What I didn’t like: - this is insta love in the biggest way possible. And while I’m okay with insta love, these 2 didn’t even have a whole conversation first. Why couldn’t there have been some dancing and flirty at the club? It was literally eye contact and “want to get out of here?” - the revenge plot was beyond juvenile! Jon has been pining for this woman for 8 years, magically sees her again and instead of jumping at the chance to reunite he’s an angry child - So. Much. Telling. I skimmed. A lot. - not much chemistry and you wouldn’t even know they loved each other if you were on the outside looking in. It was just dinner then sex. Nothing else. - Jon does not fight for her. Instead of doing whatever it takes to get her back he rationalizes how he didn’t want to be rude to a potential old hookup or new customer and just walks away. He wasn’t torn up about it hardly at all and he did nothing to fix it. Didn’t exactly scream love!
Sometimes what happens in Vegas isn't forgotten as was the case for different reasons with both Jon and Macy. Macy had fun so names her cat after Jon. Jon thinks it was very rude of Macy to leave the hotel before morning especially after alcohol-induced pronouncements of love at first sight for both of them. Revenge becomes a never-ending cycle when they meet up years later both having lived in San Francisco since "One Night in Las Vegas". Finally common sense prevails and they find their own HEA. Nicely done Jacob!
Oh my goodness!! I just loved Jon and Macy story!! They fell in love in a true love at first sight moment!! But she got scared and left and years later she went for a job interview and didn't know it was his company until she saw him!! The feeling were still there but with a big mix up they thought it was over until a scary moment he thought he lost her for good and he told her how much he loved her!! I just loved this book and I would recommend this book to everyone!!
This is a love at first sight story where the lady Macy leaves before dawn and Jon is not happy about it. Fast forward 8 years and she is back in his life but his anger at her leaving and his ego mean he decides to woo her with the intention of leaving her hanging for revenge. However things don’t go to plan and there are some big bumps along the way to their HEA but no major tragedies just lots of bad communication. My only gripe with this was the whole book was the back and forth between them and then their ending was just a little to rushed for me, I would have preferred seeing them grow as a couple for a bit before the ending.
I laughed, I cried, I felt wonderful. This is one book I want to read over and over. It captures your attention and keeps it. I got so involved in this book I felt like I knew the characters personally. I wanted at times to shake Jon to make him see what was before him. Macy on the other hand needed to learn that a relationship takes a lot of work. I loved reading this book. Now to the next one in the series.
A one night stand has sparks and words of love flying in the air. But upon waking the next morning he finds that she has left without a trace.
Now after a decade of no one else measuring up to the one that got away he comes face to face with her once again when she shows up for a job interview. Will these two be able to get past the games of revenge to find their HEA?
You don’t want to miss this great journey to love.
Per usual, Jacob Parker writes another great book!!! The characters and story are well written, the story flows well, plenty of angst and well written sexy scenes. The only bad part of the book was I couldn’t put it down and finished it way too soon!!!
Great story about a one night stand, in Vegas with hearts being broken, and left with the unknown o what happened. Years later, still remembering that time, and heart feeling the loss, you wonder what could have been? This story is fun, flirty, exciting and beautiful. A true second chance story, loved it.❤️
I really wanted to like this book but I struggled to get through it. The best line when the brother of the main character asks him if he’s 12 based on his revenge plan. My thoughts exactly. In fact the book was written for a 12 yo minus some sex talk. I was intrigued by an adult revenge factor but it just fizzled. The story was just lame.
This was a great read. I glad that jacob switched to the romance sector, he is a very talented writer. I love a love at first sight story. I didn’t like that her brother was judging Jon by his past, people can change! Glad they got their happy ending. High recommend this read!
I never know what to expect from an author that I’m new to. I have to say that I was more than pleasantly surprised, and this will definitely not be the last book I will read from Mr. Parker.
This story was filled with laughs, drama, romance, steam, and a lot more.
this was ridiculuous.. the one night stand, booring. What on earth was so memorable?? The grudge the MMC had was ott ridiculous. I got half way through the book, the writing was ok, just got bored and skimmed to see what happened by the end. I wish I could have liked it more, I do like second chance romance but this just fizzled.
It's unbelievable two grown ups can act like a 12 y.o like Macy and Jon. Their war is not fun to watch, and Jon is terribly selfish. He's got angry because Macy left 8 years ago after he declared love in ONS. I mean.. The world doesn't revolved around you, Jon.
Macy.. God she's seems capable in a lot of thing, but to be stupidly acting like a kid was not cute. It's just juvenile.
Another great love story from Jacob Parker. This second chance, love at first sight story comes to life as you turn the pages. Jon and Macy have a happily ever after even though it was a bumpy journey.
This is Macy and Jon’s story. I enjoyed this fun, love at first sight romance. The twists and turns had me turning the pages and the chemistry made my heart race. I received an arc of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Love at first sight and spanning over 8 years. I loved this story and all the drama that came with it. I had moments of all kinds of emotions. Laughter, tears, swooning, happiness. These two are meant to be.
This is the first book in the A Traveling Fling Romance Series. Jon and Macy's second chance to love is beautifully written, sweet, and emotional. This is a great love at first sight romance. I enjoyed it. Looking forward for more in the series.
This book was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, waiting to see what the characters would do next. I loved the characters and how Jacob Parker developed their relationship.
