The Warlock's Kiss

Rate this book
The Sundering toppled civilization, killed millions, and filled the world with walking corpses and supernatural monsters. It took nearly everything from Adalynn—her dreams, her home, her parents, and her chance of beating her terminal cancer—but it didn’t take her little brother, Danny. She’s come to terms with her inescapable fate, and she’ll do everything she can to ensure her brother has a chance of survival in this new, unforgiving world.

When Danny and Adalynn discover a rundown mansion in the middle of nowhere, it seems like the perfect place for him to stay, but the mansion’s owner—a tall, mysterious, intense man who exudes a strangely thrilling energy—complicates matters. Though Adalynn doesn’t want to leave another person devastated when she’s gone, Merrick has other plans for her—and he makes it clear he will keep her, no matter what price he must pay to make it so.

When siblings Danny and Adalynn discover a rundown mansion in the middle of nowhere, it seems like the perfect place to rest and hide from the monsters now prowling the land/earth, but Danny was wrong the mansion has not been abandoned and the owner (Merrick) isn't happy at having trespassers, that is until he sees Adalynn. Their attraction is instant, but Adalynn is determined to keep things physical, she is sick and doesn't want to leave behind a another person that would mourn her loss, but Merrick is determined to do everything he can to ensure she survives, taking his magic further than he ever has.

Danny was an entertaining secondary character.

The dystopian background of this tale needed be far more potently used than it was, it felt like window dressing, which was a big disappointment. I wish more of what was detailed in the blurb manifested compellingly in the story that unfolded.

This is a rant, not necessarily a review!

I might be wrong in my thinking but I believe if you are going to put stuff in the blurb, they better be a bigger part of the story and not just a “by the way”. The reason I was attracted to this book is because the blurb promised the world where "The Sundering toppled civilization, killed millions, and filled the world with walking corpses and supernatural monsters." But what I got was one revenant , or so I was told and five werewolves and nothing else. Where the hell are the promised supernatural monsters or the walking dead? In my humble opinion, this book is a missed opportunity and unfulfilled promise. A terminally ill heroine and her kid brother in an apocalyptic world filled with the walking dead and supernatural monsters sounds like an incredible premise but this book is cute at best. I don’t know about other people but for me, cancer, walking dead and supernatural monsters don’t scream cute. That’s just misrepresentation. This cute story could have taken place anywhere in the world rather than the under-utilised dystopian background that was just used for decoration.

I loved Danny, and I hope the authors can find it in their hearts to write his story and actually use the world they introduced and teased us with in this book.

A 3.5 star read.

This was a true Paranormal Romance. I enjoyed the chemistry between Merrick and Addy. I will admit that Merrick was a jerk in the beginning of the story, but I believe he had a right to feel that way with all that was going on in the world.

It was cute to see how they grew to care for each other, and Danny was a riot. I would have liked some more interaction with other people, there was only the one scene with outside people.

All in all, this was a cute book.

Reading Tiffany Roberts books tends to be hit or miss for me, and this one was unfortunately a soft miss.

A post-apocalyptic romance with magic and a grumpy/sunshine trope is a promising premise, but the lack of details about the sundering combined with the general lack of action felt like a missed opportunity.

The heroine is characterized as being cautious (sometimes overtly so) and protective, and so her rapid trust of the hero without any significant time, reason, or acknowledgment of how absurd it was she trusted him so quickly was unconvincing and a bit bizarre.

The relationship between the couple is cute and he treats her well, but it didn’t feel like there was any significant buildup to the relationship in this story.

Not a fantastic read but not a terrible one, this one just goes the line in the middle.

Grumpy and sunshine in an apocalypse

This book dealt with some seriously dark issues but had a good amount of tenderness to soften it. Addy was a sweetheart and Danny just kept breaking my heart with how fast he had to grow up. Merrick was Mr jaded, but he had some pretty valid reasons to be that way. They had some good chemistry, both physically and emotionally.

Spice: 4/5

Triggers: grief, violence, gore, cancer, seizures, attempted SA (not between MCs), zombies, burning at stake (off page), malnutrition

It was a fine cute story. Our girl (Adalynn) is trying to survive and help her little brother in any way possible, especially she wants to find secure place with food and roof for them to stay. And ideally. this place will be his permanent place once she is gone (she has cancer).
During their searches they stumbled upon a mansion. Unfortunately somebody is living inside and this somebody is not happy with them breaking into his house.
Merrick is a warlock who spent last years in solitude and when his normal life is messed up with he is not amused. Too bad, his soul\mana or whatever you call it sings for her's.
What will happen when it's the time for Adalynn to leave? Can they enjoy temporary connection or something bigger will grow? How can immortal man and sick girl plan anything for the future? Can he find the way to cure her?

it was nice and cure, i wished we had bigger story, cause it felt a little bit rushed. and finale? not my favourite.

I’m really starting to love this Roberts writing duo. I love that they love writing stories that they themselves love to read, probably because their stories happen to fall right in line with stories that I like to read. Although The Warlock’s Kiss is not my favorite by them, it contains the same level of characterization and romance as some of my favorites, which makes it a solid outing for me.

The Warlock’s Kiss takes place in on a pseudo futuristic Earth. The moon has shattered, and in its wake it has allowed things we’ve only dreamed of to finally go bump in night. The dead don’t stay day, and because of this, the best place to hide is the farthest you can get from humanity. Adalynn and her brother Danny are doing their best to stay off the grid, their travels further complicated by Adalynn’s progressing illness, meaning they need to find shelter as soon as possible. Lucky for them, they stumble upon a seemingly abandoned mansion, just to find it inhabited by a curmudgeonly immortal with a pantry full of peanut butter.

I really like the setting, the initial set up, and Merrick’s powers. Personally though, I was hoping for a bit more development in the plot then Roberts intended to supply. The background is all laid out, and fresh off reading Shielded Heart, I had my heart set on ample backstory and maybe some more run ins with the newly risen, and newly resurrected monsters. I wanted more exploration of what has happened to the world post moon sundering, and sadly for me, once Adalynn and Danny arrive at Merrick’s humble abode they don’t leave. That means that all the cool newly formed plot devices - Merrick’s connection to Ley Lines, Mana, Werewolves, Zombies, et cetera, are all just barely formulated ideas that don’t really get a lot of definition. It doesn’t make Warlock’s Kiss bad, because Roberts is really good at building compelling character interaction and steamy romance, but some of my steam waned as I realized this book wouldn’t contain the amount of plot I’ve come to expect from them, especially since the setting is primed to hold a wealth of it.

Instead what we are left with are Merrick, Adalynn, and Danny attempting to co-exist in a beautifully self-contained mansion, whiling the days always growing food and worrying about Adalynn’s inevitable end at the hands of cancer. The relationships between the three is sweet, once Merrick get’s over his overwhelming need to throw them out as soon as it stops raining. They bond over peanut butter and fresh vegetables. Danny gets to wear a suit for the first time, Adalynn takes comfort in the fact that her brother won’t be left behind, and Merrick finds there’s more to live for when you have others. It’s sweet. Danny is appropriately his age, concerned for his sister, grossed out by the thought of kissing, and a bottomless pit for food. Adalynn is determined to do the best by her brother, and through Merrick, finds a chance to revisit her one true love of music and dance. It’s all touching and cute, but it begins to become repetitive once we realize the only problem is to figure out how to keep Adalynn from dying.

There’s not much to say about The Warlock’s Kiss. Its appropriately diverting, well written, and sweet, but it’s not as exciting as Robert’s other works. I will continue to read anything and everything by them but I really think the Warlock’s Kiss is a couple action scenes away from a truly stellar work. ***3.5 stalwart stars***

A paranormal apocalypse

Let's start by saying if you haven't read anything by this author, you should dive in immediately and if not with this book well you can't really go wrong with any of their books. Now this book was just what I had been looking for, for a long time I've been looking for paranormal apocalypse type books. And to my disappointment there aren't a ton and only a handful of really good ones. So this one really stoked my intrest. It revolves around an event called the sundering, which I would love to see more about the moment it happened and how it effected people. So I loved adalynn and how strong she was despite the world around her and the knowledge she had. I loved her loyalty and familial love she had for her brother and how she wanted to help him; I could definitely realate. She was average like any one of us in Most ways but her inner strength really showed throughout the story. Merrick was strong, maybe a little broody but I loved that he didn't fight himself or his journey of self discovery. And Danny well he was sweet and hi!various what more could you ask for. I really don't want to give anything major away becuase it really is an adventure especially when you don't know what's around the corner. And like all new adventures they can be scary but remember the best things in life are worth fighting for. So this was for me a paranormal apocalyptic type romance with more focus on the paranormal but it's filled with suspense, love, passion, humor and that wonderful sense of magic culminating in a HEA that I didn't even think to expect. This a was a great story that was everything I didn't know I wanted and I would love to see more stories in this world wether we see Danny again, other peripheral characters, brand new characters maybe even ones who 'didn't know what they were. But really a very good well written book with a story that sucks you in would recommend.

Well the moon broke, the world went to shit, and all types of powerful monsters crawled out of the darkness while the dead refused to stay that way.

In this story we follow a pair of siblings- Adalynn and Danny- as they are just trying to survive their new dystopian existence. After running over a zombie their car dies, and they make their way through the woods only to stumble onto a seemingly abandoned house. What they don't realize, however, is they they have just trespassed into a warlocks home- an ancient and powerful being that doesn't seem to keen on human house guests.

The Warlock’s Kiss gave me serious Beauty and the Beast vibes. Adalynn and her brother, desperate for refuge during what seems to be the apocalypse, stumble upon an eerie, seemingly abandoned mansion. Inside, they find Merrick, a cranky and reclusive mage who clearly wants nothing to do with them—at least at first.

As the story unfolds, Merrick’s icy exterior melts, and he develops deep feelings for Adalynn, vowing to protect her and her brother at all costs. It’s a charming and heartfelt story with just the right mix of romance and magic, all tied together with a satisfying happy ending. 😊

As a change of pace after a really depressing read, this book worked very well. As a fantasy romance, it was okay. I enjoyed the post-apocalyptic world-building and there were some genuinely sweet and touching moments. It was fun seeing Our Hero go from grumpy hermit to caring for Our Heroine and her younger brother. And things certainly got spicy... and a little weird. We had underwear that broke the laws of reality and, erm, shadow tentacles?

Loved this book!! I was hooked right away with the storyline and banter. Loved the relationship between Addy and her little brother Danny. The tragic part of Addy being terminally ill. And the Warlock who would change their lives. The dialogue throughout the book had me alternating between laughing and wanting to cry. It was sad, funny, spicy and sweet. FYI… shadow tentacles…. 😏 you’re welcome. (Also loved the author’s note at the end of the book to see how this story came about!!)

Well, that was a let down. I picked it up as a buddy read pick from the Gotta Have Romance with a Kick group here on GR, and those of us that have read it all seem to have had a similar opinion. There is so much potential in the premise of this book, that just doesn't come to fruition that it's incredibly frustrating. And it was insta love [insert eyeroll]. Kind of fated mates, but that wasn't explored at all only alluded to a few times by Merrick, the MMC.

The first thing to know is that this book only has 3 characters, apart from a nefarious 5 that appear about halfway through for a handful of pages, and in a post-apocalyptic world that's all about the fight for survival, to say that's odd is putting it mildly, and very limited in perspective. Also, it's not a character study of them and doesn't have much of a plot so I'm kind of left wondering what the point of it was. If not for 13-year-old Danny (and his obsession with peanut butter - a concoction that I find utterly disgusting lol!) and how loving he was toward his older sister, it would have been quite a slog to get through. Some of his lines had me lol-ing and I was not expecting that. This is an early one from chapter 3 and is the day after they have 'met' Merrick
“Are you flirting with my sister?” Danny asked from beside Merrick.

Adalynn whipped her head toward her brother and quickly pulled her hand out of Merrick’s. “Danny!”

Merrick curled his fingers into a loose fist—as though that could assuage his sudden sense of emptiness—and dropped his hand to his side. “Daniel, are you familiar with the saying children should be seen, not heard?”

“Nope. Are you familiar with the saying dude, don’t be a dick?”

Yes, Addie and Danny are wandering around, almost aimlessly, in this dangerous new world (except we didn't see much danger or even much world), but that doesn't last as they stumble across Merrick's house before the first chapter is out. And as PA/Dystopia is a new favourite genre for me in recent years... this was such a disappointment.

Some of the magical scenes (which included the sex scenes) once Merrick decides to admit his power are somewhat pretty to imagine, and some of the writing is quite nice, but otherwise, there is not much to this. And apart from the (which allowed Merrick the opportunity to 'save' the damsel in an incredibly cliched romance situation), Merrick was virtually the sole point of anything vaguely fantastical in the whole book.

That being said, I would, however, read a sequel all about Danny and his one-liners... and how he copes when he finally gets to meet other people, and get to fall in love, on the 'outside. Perhaps we'd get more of the PA and magical world we were promised in the synopsis of this one! As it stands I feel really sorry for him; on the cusp of adolescence, being stuck in a house (albeit a huge mansion with lots to explore!) with his older sister and her lover and nary a sight of anyone else around. Poor sod.

If like me, you want a fantastical PA romance I would suggest this trilogy instead

I. Want. More.

I want more from this world. The idea of a post apocalyptic paranormal run world sounds freaking entertaining and rife with possibilities. So much so, that I Have To Have More.

This story was seriously sweet, and to be fair, i was honestly dreading the ending. Those who have read the emotional firestorm that is called Dustwalker need no further explanation. The idea of our main character knowing her impending fate seriously threw me into my post-Dustwalker PTSD. But with finesse and kindness, Roberts had mercy on our vulnerable soul and gave us an ending to satisfy our need for HEA (well, that being said, an hea-ish..considering the world is still a mess and overrun with werewolves and zombies and such...)

Something Roberts does AND DOES DAMN WELL is give us an incredible world that we seriously wish we could Mary Poppins jump into, and some seriously delicious romance.

Lets go on back to the post-sunndering world girl! There's so many places and possibilities to explore! Id also love to revisit Adalynn,Merrick and Danny in the future. Perhaps in years to come Danny may have an adventure of his own?....

Solid, superb and as always steamy .

Fantasy + romance + post-apocalypse world = INCREDIBLE

Tiffany Roberts are incredibly talented at world-building, and they did it again in this book. The world is difficult for humans after the moon has split in half, particularly if you are trying to find a safe place for your little brother while suffering from a terminal brain cancer. The heroine and little brother encounters a large, abandoned mansion, and they entered the world of a Warlock.

The warlock's inner struggles with humans illuminate his tension with the intruders, but he is unexpectedly drawn to the heroine.

The book isn't just a romance - it is full of glimpses of the new world and paranormal beings, coming to terms with one's past, and daring to love and form lasting relationships after self-isolation.

The inner music of the warlord and heroine resonates strongly with me - I have a tendency to hear inner music, and the authors took the inner music in a new, delightful way.

Be careful breaking into someone's home

I love a great apocalyptic story, and I love fantasy, and this was a perfect blend of both. In a time after our modern civilization has ended with the splitting of the moon, supernatural creatures now run rampant. This story has a little bit of everything: a gruff hero who needs a little love, the loyalty and love of family, a heroine who is willing to sacrifice herself to ensure the lives of those she loves, a fight with some baddies, and even with each other, but above all undying love. And to discover that the authors are MUDers was the icing on the cake for me; not that most of you even understand what that means. I would love to see Danny find someone who makes his soul sing, but if not, it will happen in my own mind. GREAT STORY!

TLDR:
3*s in a vacuum, slow read, shallow plot, little world building, character driven only
4* out of loyalty to the authors, for compelling interpersonal relationships, for strong writing/grammar

It's a good story, definitely made sweeter when you read the author's note at the end. ("Spoiled" at the end of the review.) It's entirely a character driven story, VERY little world building. The apocalypse scenario is used more as a backdrop to strengthen the emotional distress of the female main character; not necessarily needed, but makes her desperation to protect her brother's future feel more urgent.

Female lead is nice, though nothing special; not a spitfire but not TSTL or annoying. Her behaviour matches her character and stays within the lines that are created for her by the authors which is good; she's consistent. Her relationship with her brother is incredibly sweet and believable (I have age-gap siblings, so a lot of their interactions where relatable and realistic imo). She could seem shallow, but when your life is upended by terminal cancer and then the apocalypse, it's more than understandable why she prioritizes what she does and doesn't stray too far from her main focus.

The male lead is pretty tame, not a lot of angst or complexity, but he's incredibly sweet once the siblings break through his old shell. The scenes between the two leads are sweet and tender and romantic. The interactions between Merrick and Danny are heartwarming and real, very authentic to one of the possible dynamics between an in-law and a little sibling.

Not a lot happens in terms of plot. There's one action sequence that felt kind of out of place. There could have been more to it to help suggest future behaviour of the trio amongst the outer world, either in securing the estate or in discussion of how they'd interact with outsiders in the future. (There was some internal dialogue that started to explore this but not much further, a missed opportunity to involve the setting more.)

Author's note from the end of the book is below. (It's not a spoiler for the story, but a reason for why they wrote it. I usually don't bother reading these, (sorry authors!) but it's interesting to me to have a husband/wife co-author so I gave it a peek.)

The two "met through a text-based fantasy role playing game" while living in NYC (husband) and Idaho (wife, and later the two of them together). The story was one they'd wrote (at least the framework for it) in this fashion back in 2013 with their trio of main characters. It is from the start of their relationship, which is incredibly sweet to me, and it's awesome and so sweet that they went back to their earliest creations and brought them back to life. It makes sense in retrospect that the story is more emotionally charged and character focused, with a story of two unlikely individuals finding love despite their differences. While the book is probably not on my list of recommendations, being a slower read without the usual politicking/info dumps/high octane drama and action that I usually consume, it's a palate cleanser for longtime fans of the authors looking for a change of pace.

I was immediately hooked into the world portrayed in this book from the summary alone. With the Earth’s moon shattering and the dead returning as zombie-like creatures called Revenants and supernatural beings becoming even more powerful suddenly and coming out of hiding to inherit the Earth. I was so relieved when the main characters Adalyn and Danny found shelter in a well-kept mansion in the countryside with a hot man who is more than he seems. With hot water and peanut butter and comfortable beds to boot! I was so happy for their sudden turn of fortune.
Also, I don’t believe I have read a romance with the male lead as a warlock before so I was excited by his old world manner and his dark academia type home. The female lead’s aggressive brain cancer left me so nervous and added a great urgency and danger factor to the plot.
I was ravenous for more interaction with the outside world though and it’s new creatures that roamed it. I was on the edge of my seat the two times that the characters come into conflict with supernatural beings but this is not an action-packed book much to my disappointment. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the safe haven of the mansion and his garden but I would have felt more appreciative of it if we had had just a bit more action sprinkled in there threatening that sanctuary or at least informing us more of the current state of the world. I have been left with so many questions about those supernatural beings briefly described as coming out now since the Sundering (what they called it when the moon shattered and everything changed) and I would love to explore this world even more and meet more survivors. I’m sure there are plenty more romance combinations possible with humans and supernaturals in a world like this. ☺️
It was refreshing to have a hero who was like a suped up immortal being that looks like a person instead of the more “Beauty and the Beast”-type books I’ve read (and generally loved) by this author duo. All the benefits of a human man with lots of magical perks. ☺️ This book was sweet and steamy and cute. It also featured the very satisfying grumpy-turned-totally-devoted guy with a sweet and tough girl trope.

If you want to dip your toe into dystopian paranormal romance but are not big on the scary happenings or want more emphasis on the romance and not the world building aspect, this is a great read for you!

Adalynn and her brother, Danny, are on the run in this post-apocalyptic world when they stumble upon an old house, which they break into to find a place to stay. Little did they know, the house belongs to Merrick, a centuries-old warlock who doesn’t like intruders.

Tropes: Post-Apocalyptic Romance, Protector Romance, Insta Lust, Age Gap, Soulmates, Forced Proximity

This is another Tiffany Roberts book. I really like the premise of many of her books, but a lot of them have been falling flat for me. In this book, our FMC, Adalynn, has terminal brain cancer. She and her brother are fighting for their lives in this post-apocalyptic world and run into Merrick because they break into his home for shelter. Merrick is a tall, dark, and broody thousand-year-old warlock who is instantly in love with Adalynn. His "mana" resonates with hers, or whatever. But he knows that she is sick and will soon die. He offers them shelter and tries to find a way to save her. This book was fine, but I felt like Merrick was acting really, really old. Which, duh, he is a thousand years old, but it felt like he was an actual old man, and I kept picturing someone a lot older than how he was described, just based on how he talked and acted. So that was a bit weird for me. Adalynn and her brother have a very special relationship, and I loved that sibling bond throughout the book. There was a bit of insta-lust between Adalynn and Merrick, which is fine. They are in forced proximity, and it is a life-or-death situation, literally for Adalynn. I did find myself skimming a lot of the paragraphs, even the smut scenes. That alone should tell you how uninvested I was in their relationship. I was honestly more interested in why the moon split (or whatever happened) and why people turn into monsters when they die. Maybe that was explained in one of the paragraphs I skimmed. Oh well. There is a HEA, of course!

Overall, this was a very average read for me. I found myself skimming through paragraphs, wasn’t invested in the romantic relationship, and wanted to learn more about the non-romantic elements of this romance novel.

Good

In a post apocalyptic world, where the monsters of fable are real, and where death results in ravenous corpses, there are Adalynn and Danny, a brother and sister desperately trying to survive as best they can.
Diagnosed with a terminal illness, Adalynn just wants her brother to be safe, so when they come across a seemingly empty manor house, they decide to enter it.
The house is not as empty as they thought, and the Warlock who lives there, Merrick, is used to living alone.
Drawn to Adalynn, he finds himself fighting against the attraction he feels as well as the disease Adalynn suffers.
As Merrick thaws to his unwanted and unexpected guests, he slowly opens his heart to the possibilities.

This is actually a lovely story, a standalone romance in a world where the sundering of the moon in two had a devastating impact on the Earth.
It’s fairly slow paced, but enjoyable, with a satisfying ending and just enough action to keep it going.
Of course, these authors are experienced and talented writers, and it shows in the quality of this tale.
Part romance, part fantasy, this is a tale that the author’s fans, and contemporary fantasy lovers will enjoy immensely.

One of my favorite books is Dustwalker, which led me to The Warlock's Kiss. BOTH ARE ON KINDLE UNLIMITED. I fell in love with the characters right from the start. There is a bit of a Walking Dead vibe as an apocalyptic event causes the dead to rise and become monsters. Addie and her young brother, Danny, are on the road in search of a safe haven when they are stranded and break into what they hope is a large abandoned home. Alas, it is not abandoned and we meet the mysterious Merrick, Warlock. His reaction to the invasion is what you'd expect. He is not happy but allows them to stay until the sun appears. However, a storm descends and come morning there is no sign of the sun. Something about the sad pair touches a long dead part of Merrick and he concedes that as the sun hasn't shown itself, they may remain until it does.

This isn't insta lust or insta love. Rather, as each of them slowly reveals their secrets and their true characters respect and affection grow. As they face their fears and the dangers from without and within, it's impossible to put the book down! Highly recommended.

Quick Review: This was a solid read—editing, characterization, plot, and writing were all done really well. I only wish that I knew for certain that Danny eventually gets his own HEA.

Solid 3.5/4 stars. While I wish the paranormal/post-apocalypse type world was a bit more fleshed out, I really enjoyed the overall story.
Adalynn and her brother Danny are doing all they can to survive after the Sundering, an event in which the moon split apart, magic increased to a whole new level, and supernatural beasts roam. Adalynn is trying to ensure her much younger brother Danny has a safe place to survive, because Adalynn is on borrowed time. Her terminal cancer is a ticking timebomb and she doesn't know how long they have before she leaves him forever.
On their journey, they come across an old, rundown, forgotten-looking mansion, and see if this place could be the perfect place for Danny to stay and survive.
Once inside they meet Merrick, an intense man with suspicious powers, but a man Adalynn can't help but be drawn to.

I am such a romantic fluffball!

I love Tiffany Roberts! I love how well written this is. I love the story. I love Addelynn, Daniel, and Merrick.

Before I go further, I must mention that as much as I enjoy these sexy romances (from aliens to warlocks) I do not always enjoy the sex scenes. Sex scenes are easily messed up by aliens using words for their genitals a human would use, sex only being referred to as "fucking" and a woman's "desirous flower" as a "c**t - I don't even like to spell that word and I am disappointed when I read it. The sex scenes here read and felt as if Addelynn and Merrick were making love. The scenes were sensuous and most assuredly, loving.

I will be reading more of Tiffany Roberts books and can only hope they are as well written.

This was a wonderful story and one to read again!

Spice: 🌶🌶🌶🌶/5

It’s set in a post-apocalyptic world which is so cool and has so much potential but kinda becomes completely irrelevant when they spend 99% of the book inside of one house… I feel like that was a major missed opportunity and kinda of an unnecessary plot direction tbh. Like if you removed it all together and just kept it on say modern day you wouldn’t even change the rest of the story at all…

3 stars though because he has shadows, and Danny is a funny af character. Spice was v good, and the romance was beautifully done. I was happy with the ending although I do have questions I wish I could ask about the logistics of some things.. but otherwise a solid read!

cute and spicy

A little bit spooky even but I’m a punk. Loved Addy and Merrick. They were adorable. I think a few things got lost in the sauce which is why I dropped a star. There was a lot of description for Merricks house for example lol but almost no explanation as to the whole soul ties thing. How mana and mana songs really worked? I mean k get that he and Addy were soulmates but I feel like the whole concept cold have been explained better. That being said the book did leave me wanting some more. It’d be interesting to see how this family survived in the future given everything.
