Maggie and Alyssa have an unbreakable sisterly bond. But when a chance encounter with an older woman named Heidi pushes them to take a huge emotional risk -- they're forced to ask themselves questions about the strength of their love and what they're willing to do to keep it alive. In New York City, life is not what it once was. Maggie's husband is cruel and manipulative, but when Alyssa demands answers, Maggie brushes it off. Now that the IVF treatments have worked and Maggie is pregnant, Maggie hardly notices the troubles in her marriage. Alyssa decides to step back and be happy for her sister, no matter what. But when Maggie suffers another miscarriage, Alyssa's heart breaks for her. All Maggie has ever wanted is to be a mother. This was her last chance. The Dog-Eared Corner is a gem of a bookstore in Martha's Vineyard. Heidi Withers' father opened it when she was just a girl and passed it on to her when he died, and it's been her pride and joy ever since. Now fifty-seven, things at the bookstore have begun to feel strange to Heidi -- but then again, everything has always felt strange to her. Since her son and sister abandoned her seven years ago, she's lived so much of her life alone, surrounded by books. But when a terrible diagnosis leaves her reeling, Heidi is forced to push aside her pride and look to the community of Martha's Vineyard for help. Miraculously, two beautiful sisters -- one heartbroken over her miscarriage, and the other trying her best to pick up the pieces -- enter her bookstore and become involved in the most monumental season of her life. When Heidi shares dark secrets from her past with Maggie and Alyssa, the girls decide to take a risk to make both Maggie's maternity dreams come true and bring Heidi's son back to the island. Neither story plays out how they plan. What a story! I have been waiting for Maggie to have her story and this was fantastic! I loved the story of Alyssa and Maggie’s friendship and love as sisters really expand to include Heidi. Her bookstore and Maggie’s baking brought happiness to both of them. Enter David, Heidi’s son and Rex, Maggie’s husband - I think it’s the best man who won in the end. Dying for the next book - need to see what happens with this crew! And the babies … need more soon!
Fun times at Katama Bay. Sisters Maggie and Alyssa befriend an older woman Heidi, who is facing early onset dementia. Maggie’s ongoing struggle with infertility takes a unique twist as the sisters deduct themselves to help Heidi solve her struggle with her family book store. The sister duo also work to locate Heidi’s estranged son David, while husband Rex continues to be a jerk. The extended family’s live and support for each other in good times and bad continues to be a central theme
Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
A lovely story of a Sister’s love and support for each other in the wake of sadness and betrayal. As the sisters find a sweet lady named Heidi who has suffered a tremendous loss, they continue to show love and support to this stranger. The characters grab you and make you feel a part of this sweet family. ❤️❤️
This was such a beautiful book. It focuses on the closeness and unselfishness being a sister involves. Sisters Maggie and Alyssa face their problems together and help other people on the island lead a better, more fulfilling life. I loved the story. Katie Winters highlights some terrible problems in her books, but somehow there is always hope and the comfort of family.
Katie Winters, how do you do it? Every book you write is stunning! Regardless of the series, you manage to grab our attention and hold it until the very last word. A Sister’s Blessing is heart-wrenching. The storyline is awesome; the characters so amazing; the plot twists literally steal your breath away; and the HEA—magnificent. You absolutely must grab a copy of this book today! It’s definitely worth your time. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and absolutely loved it!!) ❤️❤️❤️
What a wonderful story! The characters kept me in suspense as they shared love, adventures and problems! The story held lots of suspense and surprises! They lived life to the fullest!
