They are the women of Primrose Creek, and their strength and passion is a match for the Nevada frontier they call home. Linda Lael Miller masterfully captures the hardships and dangers of a country swept by the winds of war -- and the daring and determination, the hopes and dreams of four unforgettable women -- in a thrilling new series.

Skye McQuarry's heart belongs to one man -- Primrose Creek's lumber baron, Jake Vigil. After a shattering heartbreak in his past, Jake vowed to never again take a chance on love -- until he came to know beautiful Skye. But their delicate bond faces the ultimate test when a business deal threatens to tear them apart -- and battle lines are drawn between two passionate hearts.

Skye is determined to stand her ground. Then a surprise from Jake's past unexpectedly comes to her -- a discovery that may be just the key to unlocking the true, deep, and trusting love that she knows lives deep within Jake Vigil.

The daughter of a town marshal, Linda Lael Miller is a #1 New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of more than 100 historical and contemporary novels, most of which reflect her love of the West. Raised in Northport, Washington, Linda pursued her wanderlust, living in London and Arizona and traveling the world before returning to the state of her birth to settle down on a spacious property outside Spokane.
Linda traces the birth of her writing career to the day when a Northport teacher told her that the stories she was writing were good, that she just might have a future in writing. Later, when she decided to write novels, she endured her share of rejection before she sold Fletcher’s Woman in 1983 to Pocket Books. Since then, Linda has successfully published historicals, contemporaries, paranormals, mysteries and thrillers before coming home, in a literal sense, and concentrating on novels with a Western flavor. For her devotion to her craft, the Romance Writers of America awarded her their prestigious Nora Roberts Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007.
Long a passionate Civil War buff, Linda has studied the era avidly for almost thirty years. She has read literally hundreds of books on the subject, explored numerous battlegrounds and made many visits to her favorite, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, where she has witnessed re-enactments of the legendary clash between North and South. Linda explores that turbulent time in The Yankee Widow, a May 7, 2019 MIRA Books hardcover, also available in digital and audiobook formats.
Dedicated to helping others, “The First Lady of the West” personally financed fifteen years of her Linda Lael Miller Scholarships for Women, which she awarded to women 25 years and older who were seeking to improve their lot in life through education. She anticipates that her next charitable endeavors will benefit four-legged critters.

My opinion about Skye

The story was interesting but a little shallow as far as the depth and details. It left me hanging a few times. It sounded like a beautiful area and a special place to live. I didn't quite get why Skye sold her trees to the railroad instead of Jake using them for their own progress. I liked the way Jake came back to his senses and also for building a home for his family. More details about her dream house would have been interesting to me.

Although "Women of Primrose Creek" series is an older one, they are timeless. Skye is the third in this series and each can be read alone. Skye is feisty, and a young woman that goes after what she wants. And she wants Jake. A bit of a tomboy, she sets her sights on Jake, the man that was jilted at the altar by her sister. He has the sawmill and she has the trees he needs. A combustible story with warmth, grit, and a real heartwarming story of the men and women of the old west. Told by Linda Lael Miller as no one else can. Highly recommend for lovers of western romance!!

This was a cute western romance but it's just like the first two books in the series. Tho it was still nice to see Jake a character from the second book get his happy ending. Tho this book did leave me with questions about the last mcquarry, Megan. I can't wait to read the last book in the series to find out what happens to Megan. in this book Megan tells us of her dreams and what she sees her life being and I for one can't wait to hear of all of her adventures.

A western romance that is one of 4 books within a book. It is a very light, easy read but entertaining about Skye, one of 4 sisters who live in the west. She is a very "block-headed"/stubborn and outspoken, young woman who falls in love with her sister's ex-fiancee(sp).
It is interesting enough that I think I will read about the other three women.

Skye and Jake were meant to be together but neither would own up to their love for each other. Jake had been hurt before so Skye had to really earn his trust. They both were stubborn and strong-willed in their own ways. This was a nice relaxing snowy-day read.

I've since read it a couple more times because the lead character and I share a name.
Very good, light historical romance.
