Loch was always so confident—even for a god—and to see him appear so uncertain was troubling.
“I’m here.” Sloane touched Loch’s cheek. “I love you.”
“And I love you, my sweet husband.” Loch’s brow furrowed.
Not yet, but I believe the news station was identifying me as the “sexy dragon” and not by my proper name.
Sloane laughed.
Loch summoned a tentacle out of sight beneath Sloane’s jacket to gently squeeze his arm inside his sleeve. “I am sorry. Sincerely.”
Reaching up as if he was scratching an itch, Sloane discreetly returned the loving squeeze. “It’s okay. I’m still a little mad at you… I mean, toilet water?” He grinned. “Really?”
”I flushed before I summoned the water. Does that help?”
“Eh. A little.”
”I love you.”
“I love you too.”
Like with the bracelet, all the items with the swirling design had the godly glimmer. The rest appeared normal, though it still wasn’t any less weird to see such sacred images slapped all over merchandise.
“Okay, we both know that’s ridiculous,” Loch said, taking over Sloane’s voice. “How about you tell us how you sleep at night, profiting off someone else’s faith? Hmm?”
“My dear Mr. Beaumont, never underestimate any creature’s aptitude for ignorance.” Stoker massaged his temple absently.
