Kingston and Chozyn Brown were raised by loving parents that instilled so many gems and core values within them that they couldn’t help but to turn into the most loyal, educated, kindhearted and intelligent souls. Their parents raised them with such a solid foundation because they knew the day would come when their children would have to live life without them. The first “disruption” occurs during Chozyn’s 16th year of life after their untimely death.

The story opens up with King being sentenced to 15 years in prison and it didn’t take long to realize that he was being set up. While King and his team are working tirelessly to prove his innocence, Chozyn is thrown into the role of CEO of their investment company. It doesnt take long for her to fill her brother’s shoes and she does so effortlessly despite her world crumbling around her. While Chozyn settles into her new role, King entrusts his most loyal right hand and best friend Legacy to look after his sister until he can reclaim his throne at the top.

No one wants to see King’s release more than his sister and fiancé Nadia and they hold things down on the outside until they can be reunited with King. This story took us on a journey!! One that I was not expecting at all!!

🛑🛑SPOILERS BELOW 🛑🛑

So…….. I struggled with how to rate this story and need to sit further with my thoughts before I make a decision. I loved so much about this story and was really drawn to the overall theme/plot! I LOVED the representation of black love that was displayed throughout. I loved the sisterhood and brotherhood displayed amongst the characters. And I also loved how issues didn’t really linger. Something would arise and it was addressed without being drawn out in the book.

There was so much going on in the story that kept me on my toes! One things for sure you won’t be bored reading this book. Overall the story kept a really good pace and left you anticipating what was next.

Things that I struggled with was first and foremost King and Malea’s relationship. The story painted King as such a noble, upstanding gentleman that was devoted to his fiancé Nadia only for him to have a side piece. That really took away from Kings character and made it difficult for me to love him. Malea took away from the strength of King’s character because why would he betray Nadia that way. And then for her to know about this woman was crazy especially since Nadia was such a strong, independent woman that lived a life of peace. This was ongoing song their high school days and I’m shocked that up until his imprisonment this took place.

I didn’t understand the “forbidden” aspect of Legacy and Chozyn’s relationship. If King specifically asked him to look after his sister, take care of her issues and lead the company side by side in his absence, I didn’t get why he was so upset finding out they started dating. He never gave clear instructions that his sister was off limits. He knew Legacy wasn’t out here ho’ing around with other women. Legacy was such an amazing man I feel like anyone would want him with their sister. The anger was misplaced for sure. At best he could’ve been in his feelings because they kept it hidden but that’s it. He suspected early on in their relationship that something was going on but wasn’t that upset if he never addressed it.

Why did King wait so long to confront Don Carlos?! The urgency to get rid of him wasn’t there the way it needed to be and it had me questioning Kings decision making abilities as a boss and as a leader. And I’ll never understand why he went back to Florida knowing it was a set up.

I didn’t get why Chozyn ran off on Legacy during their third act break up because this man has lived in your skin for the last year and a half so some random woman claiming “history” should not have had her acting out of character because when did he even have time especially since they’d spent the last year in Jamaica.

I absolutely despise with a MMC or MFC is killed off in a story. I don’t like when an author allows me to fall in love with characters only to unknowingly kill them off. It’s one thing for me to know that a character has an illness or they’re killed off extremely early on in the story but to have me ready for a HEA only to kill them is crazy. I don’t like my emotions being played with like that.

Lastly I didn’t understand Boss and Ra’Quel’s introduction to the story so far into the read. They went from playing background characters like extras in a movie to being front and center with no warning or build up. While I did love them, it seemed random and out of place with the rest of the story.

The story also suffered from editing concerns. Incorrect character names, misspelled character names and punctuation. Quotations were used quite a bit even when no one was talking. The book also felt extremely wordy with the overuse of details. And these details weren’t always necessary. The book felt overly descriptive at times. The story was also written in third person but jumped into first person. It wasn’t consistent but it was noticeable.

Overall I did enjoy moments within the story, I’m just not sure how I enjoyed it as a complete book. Nadia has a spin off which I’m slightly intrigued by so I definitely plan to read that in the future just not sure when.

Ms. Aja, you did the damn thang on this one you hear me? All of this chaos and unrest, because one man is greedy and jealous? Ughhhh…… 🤬 I really connected with King, and loved his authenticity, his strong authority and leadership! The love, care and protection that he had for his sister Chozyn, was beautiful! ❤ I know that King and Chozyn were the main characters here, but I felt like Legend stole the damn show! He didn’t mind taking the backseat when necessary to get results! He was intentional, precise and calculating with his moves, making him dangerous! The family dynamic in this read was just everything! All the men were brothers, looked out for one another and protected their families. The ladies as well, held it down and supported each other fiercely! Then you just had to break my heart! 💔 I had a feeling when the words were spoken, before heading back to Florida from Jamaica. I was waiting for you to tell us that it was a dream, a nightmare, something other than this being reality! I cried with Nadia, as if I could feel her pain! 💔 It felt that real to me! I cannot wait to read Nadia's follow-up! Great job! 👍👍👍

So good!

This story was so well told!
It felt a lot like a mystery to me because I could feel the undercurrent of betrayal in the pages of the book but I wasn't quite sure where it would come from.
My favorite part of the story, was the lobe and loyalty displayed by the "brothers" and of course Chozyn. This book is a great introduction to a new series with rich characters with more life to live. I'm excited for the journey that I can feel coming!
Definitely recommend if you like books storylines that keep you on your toes and characters that you love and some that you love to hate.

Disruption has disrupted my 🤎

I think King, Legacy, Boss and Caleb are the epitome of power and leadership as strong Black men who love their women you can feel the masculinity dripping off of them and Nadia, Chozyn, Ra’Quel and Vera were the glue that held them all together. They personified strength and loyalty, they’re bond easy, seamless, natural and unbreakable as they balance business, relationships, love, loss, trust and any threats from their enemies that try to take away or jeopardize what and who is important.

They were dedicated and trusted each other to stay two steps ahead of everything and everyone in order to survive. They took care of family, made sure to maintain a legacy in business and in future generations and it broke my heart when the plan didn’t go as orchestrated. The drug game has 2 doors, an entry and an exit and this story made my heart thump in anticipation, my eyes water and my nerves on edge as I read the dangers these men endured wondering if they’d live or die and when the shots rang out, I literally held my breath because I couldn’t believe what happened.

They played hard and loved harder, but when that disruption happens, everyone’s lives are changed forever and it’s hard to believe and harder to accept. This story was exciting, suspenseful, loving and at times devastatingly sad. There were so many of moments laughter and moments that shocked my core and author Aja Cornish did a fantastic job of showing dedicated lovers, intense sexual connections and good character portrayal of a family where love, loyalty, trust and all that encompasses maintaining and sustaining livelihood was the foundation for their survival.

Definite recommendation🤎

Love Transends the Heart

As much as this book made me smile, appreciate love, family and friendship, it made me cry!!!…My heart crumbled for Nadia and Chozyn!!!…
Legacy definitely stepped up big time for Chozyn!!!…
Loss is definitely love that does not feel completed or things left unspoken!!!…
I was not expecting King decision to the ending that decision brought about, but that conversation with Nadia and her dream had me believing it was coming!!!…
This was an absolute amazing read and I challenged myself to read Part II!!!…
There was nothing left unsaid or anything left to question!!!…

Omg What a Story! Aja Bravo!!

Chosyn and Legacy were drawn to each other because opposites attract and forbidden fruit tastes so sweet lol. I can't believer how trifling Don Carlo and Morena were being smh. Jealous of the beautiful spirit of someone who has done nothing to you smh just sad as all get out. King😭 I loved him and he made me mad several times. Nadia held it down like a true soldier. Malea smh you can't force somebody to love you because you love them special girl. Boss & Rocky were hilarious🤣 they need their own story.

If you like details this is for you…..3.5

Ok so overall I liked the story, there were a lot of moving parts which made it a bit difficult to follow at times but overall I liked the story. I will say it was a bit too wordy for my taste. There were almost too many details, and I like details but there has to be some balance. At times the details slowed the story down for me. The dialogue caught me off guard sometimes, but again that’s a personal thing. Again, I enjoyed the story, I do feel a way about what happened to King but I’m looking forward to reading Nadia’s story. I’ll definitely be checking out this authors catalog.

Whew

This one was soo good. The brotherhood and sisrerhood and importance of family, love, and loyalty was felt throughout this story. King was trult what his name implies, a King, though not one without a few flaws. The wedding scenes in Jamaica had my heart swooning!! I'm ready to see what's next for Nadia and hopefullt we hear a little from the others as well!!

Emotionaly drained

This book had me from the beginning. The last few chapters literally had me in tears. I felt the loss each of them felt like I was involved. Healing is a process that everyone deals with differently. The semi-happy ending was needed.

The playlist was on point. Some songs I wasn't familiar with however this has made me more aware of how they fit with the story.

I am overly heart broken. RIP King…just when he was finally getting his piece of happiness. King, Legacy and Boss are men that every woman would want in their lives. Choyzn is finally making some steps to find peace. My heart went out to Nadia.

This book was everything! I kept me coming back for more! I was so torn when King didn't make it. I know you can't always have a happy ending, but I definitely thought King would have survived to spend a lifetime with Nadia! I loved how Chozyn and Legacy loved each other through everything! I will be checking out more of your books!

Emotional Love

When I say my nerves and emotions are all over the place, from page one to the end, it’s very difficult to put this book down. Disruption is a very powerful read. While the story keeps you on the edge of your seat, there are so many words of wisdom and life lessons to be gleaned as well.

King, Nadia, Chozyn and Legacy personalities jump right off the pages. These characters are now living in my head and have me wanting to check on them. lol

I put off reading this book for so long and I hate that I did. King and Chosyn are my favorite siblings. These two experienced so much hate for simply being alive. Being born with a light that nobody can dim is so remarkable. I cried reading this book and I’m not even an emotional book reader. The quotes from their parents and the people that meant something were life gems.

WHEW!!!!!! This book took me through it. I was ready to unalive people at 4% in and then it only intensified. Nadia & King’s love was so raw, unfiltered, everlasting, and all encompassing. I pray to have a love as strong as their’s one day. Choyzn & King’s relationship was beautiful. I mean they loved each other either with everything in them because they were all each other had after losing their parents. Having Caleb and Vera for their God parents was refreshing, they stepped in and stepped up without trying to replace their parents. I was very confused how you killed these people parents then turned around and tried to do the same to their son, Don Carlo was a fawked up individual. I was so happy when Drew was unalived because why Drew thought he could play with Choyzn like that was mind boggling to me cause clearly he thought with King away he could go off, yeah okay! Never saw Legacy coming behind Choyzn the way he did and that was something she needed in the worst way after FB Drew. Jamaica was the best part of my book for me because after that I practically went into mourning for the remainder of the book. After letting the case go the way it went in the beginning, to it being corrected, to hitting us with what you did in the warehouse, yeah I was through after that. I might as well had been in the family and the book the way my heart hurt. Y’all do not read this book, if you are going through anything emotionally at the present time when you decide to pick this up cause it will leave you distraught. I was toe up. This book was a hard read for me and even a little of a slow burn BUT when it hooked me in, I was locked in. Then Aja broke my heart, and I cried until the end of this book. Okay Aja, I’m ready to read Imprint On My Soul, but I’m not at the same time as well. I’ll holla at you once I do because if after everything Nadia went through she don’t get no HEA we over and done with it. Thank God, Chozyn got hers cause WHEW!!!!!! I will say this book despite being fictional gave me a lot to think about and a way to look at things very differently than they may seem.

Ok so the book is written well it took me through a lot of emotions, but I felt at times the story was getting dragged out. The book could have been shorter, but I will say if you are person that likes a detail you would give it 5 stars.
