Alshafaltha, elven city of a thousand towers, has stood far beyond memory, on the shores of the first sea.
The warrior-poet Darusuo grows weary of life as king, his malaise quickened by the mortal blood of the dim-men who walk the streets of his ancient capital. And yet, among the strange race of mortals, there stands a lady so fair as to cause madness, Dolina.
And, as the bards say, she was the one thing in the world he could not have and, perhaps worse, could not keep, for she was betrothed to another and destined to quickly die.
Aided by his friend and wizard Nomundal, he sets out to not only capture his beloved but to solve the riddle of mortality for one, and perhaps for all. But to do so, he will have to journey to dark places and cavort with eldritch powers.
And haunting his dreams, the legendary Unbinder waits…
