Calming nature stories for little onesDiscover a magical world of nature on your doorstep. Charming rhyming verse introduces six mindful moments–including a squirrel burying a nut, and a rainbow forming on a rainy day–to the youngest readers. A fabulous introduction for first readers, from the team that created international bestseller Slow Down.
If you like slow down the 50 nature story you'll love this one as well. Its the same really but with much simpler text and in board book format for the littlest one.
Love the illustrations! High-quality word choice for a board book. Unsure of the purpose for the bolder words. The idea of mindfulness at this age is wonderful and I enjoyed the rhyming pattern too.
18 month old is in love with this book, she wants me to read it all the time! She loves the pictures and repeating the emphasized words, it’s adorable!
Update: she found this book at the library 2 months later and remembered it! She had me read it to her again right there and stayed still the entire time, which has been impossible before given all the fun play stations at our library. This book certainly made an impression!
3.5 stars With art reminiscent of "Make way for ducklings", this sturdy board book offers six different nature scenarios for little ones to explore: mushrooms, ducklings, squirrels, woodpeckers, water lilies, and thunderstorms.
These board books are bite-sized charmers for those tots who might not be ready for the longer material (or easy-to-tear pages) in the larger picture books. Has the same spirit of finding enchantment in “everyday” nature and the same beautiful style of illustrations. As it is noted as a "calming" book for little ones, I do want to point out that some young ones might be sensitive to the following: “On Your Doorstep” shows a spider trapping prey and “In the Park” features a thunderstorm.
