After the end of a long-term relationship, local weather girl Bea Armstrong has been avoiding her family, and their inevitable ‘I-told-you-sos.’ But with Christmas fast approaching, she is finally on her way home to Charis House, the school in Sherwood Forest that her mum and dad run in their old family home. 🎵🎶Oh, the weather outside is frightful...But the fire is so delightful, Since we've no place to go...Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow🎵🎶

This is my second Christmas in July book this year and it is also my second read by Beth Moran. I really enjoyed Just The Way You Are when I read it back in January. And just like that one, Let it Snow gave me all the feels. A little bit humourous, a little bit romantic, and a whole lot of fun. This enemies to romance hit the spot for me. The flashback paragraphs were some of my favourite parts as I loved getting to know Adam and Henry. I did not like Adam one bit, he was very selfish and self-centered.

The other characters were so wonderful, I want to be part of the Armstrong family. As much as Bea complained about them, you could tell she really loved them at heart. The mystery element of Nana Joy's past (who's your daddy?) was intriguing, to say the least, and the perfect touch of a little something extra. The Baxter house section during the interviews had me laughing out loud, what a hoot, and there were many great characters (or should I say caricatures?) there as well...many of whom I loved to hate. I can't finish this review without mentioning the cover, it is adorable and I will definitely be picking up a physical copy for that alone.

If you enjoy cute, quirky books that are more than just a romance novel, especially ones with a Christmas theme, I highly recommend you pick this one up.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Boldwood Books, and Beth Moran for the giving of the ARC.

Christmas 2022 - Nice!

I really, really enjoyed this quirky story! It has likeable characters; great descriptions of a family Christmas celebration I would give my left lung to be part of; a sweet romance; and the most bizarre and unrealistic job interview imaginable. There was a lot going on here, but I found all of it completely entertaining.

Bea is a weathergirl who has been avoiding her family. She finally goes home for Christmas only to learn that her parents may lose the old property that for years they’ve used as a school for troubled teens. While home, she learns she has an interview for a prestigious weathercasting position. The only person who can drive her is Henry, the nerdy but loveable next-door neighbor her parents have been trying to match her with since they were kids.

I thought this was super cute. The Christmas stuff was cute, especially family quiz time. The details of the family were cute and well done. I loved Henry and Bea. Henry has had a crush on Bea forever in a cute Peeta Mellark-reminiscent way that was all sorts of adorable to read. Everyone had an interesting and complicated backstory and I liked seeing how things played out. This was definitely one of my favorite Christmas reads of this year! 5/5 stars.

I missed him nudging me with his elbow and giving a sidelong look that confirmed we were thinking precisely the same thing. I missed knowing he’d got my back, and if I needed it he’d take my hand, too.

Themes & vibes:

• slowburn snowy Christmas romance
• home for the holidays
• childhood "enemies"/friends to lovers
• sweetheart love interest
• only one bed & come close so we don't freeze to death
• single POV, dual timeline

Let It Snow is a cute and fun Christmas romance that follows a weather girl Bea Armstrong as she is trying to figure out who her heart belongs to, but also what a dream job should and shouldn't look like. And all that while trying to navigate unavoidable holiday family drama.

I loved how cozy this book felt. Lots of snow, lots of family and community vibes. A bit of romance. Just what I'd expect from a Christmas read.

If there's anything I'd change, I would probably add some more angst and sparks between the MCs. Also, maybe there were too many plot points to follow in just one book, although I can't say it bothered me that much.

If you want to see my much more in depth review, you can check it out on my book blog NovelOnMyMind.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of Let It Snow by Beth Moran in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed this heartwarming and cozy story ☃️. If you're looking for a story that takes place during the holidays but is low on the frills of the festivities, you'll likely enjoy this one.

This was sweet, Christmas-y and overall a cute read.
However, I expected the romance to be more prominent and I found the writing a little too chaotic and frilly for my likings.
I found myself skimming entire paragraphs from time to time, because I wasn't interested in Bea's job storyline. I mean, I was, but there was way too much of it.
I also didn't really like the format that was used for dialogues, but I guess that's on me. It messes with my reading comprehension when lines are told between ' ' instead of " " or << >>.
I wanted more Henry, too. I felt like his own purpose and personality revolved around Bea, and I'm sad because I've got the softest spot for cute and nerdy, handsome boys.

I must say, Bea’s chaotic Christmas is not something I would like to experience in a hurry! It was all over the place, a bit like the plot, and I was frustrated by how the story kept straying to different themes. In my opinion, it made for an almost anti-Christmas read: it was not cosy and relaxing, but hay-wire and going in all directions.

Firstly, there are buckets of snow in this story, exactly what the title describes! It definitely gives atmosphere to the plot, particularly when Bea and Henry are in the grounds of a Scottish mansion, belonging to an eccentric manager. Although the Christmas decorations here are beyond creepy, the descriptions did make me laugh and this added to the magic of the festivities, especially as it is clear that Bea’s feelings for Henry are not as simple as she thought.

Bea has known Henry all her life, and her parents always expected her to be married to their next door neighbour, despite what Bea actually feels about him. Through the power of flashbacks, readers learn that whilst Henry has always been a kind gentleman to Bea, her head has been focussed elsewhere: on hunky bad-boy, Adam. Yet, it is clear that this relationship was never going to last, as Bea’s recent heartbreak describes.

The story follows Bea has she leaves her family home to attend a wacky and, quite simply, awful interview in Scotland. This part of the narrative was the most entertaining and I delighted in watching how Baxter created different scenarios to ‘test’ the potential applicants. It felt like a disastrous reality television show and I could not predict what Bea would have to do next in order to prove herself. Yet, this does not become a dominating part of the narrative, as Bea eventually leaves to try and travel back home in time for Christmas Day. Except the massive dumpings of snow makes it nigh impossible.

From here, I thought the story lost its way. I wanted to see more of the outrageous interview process with the equally outrageous Baxter. But, Moran has other ideas for the story, which includes a bizarre stay at a run-down shack, trying to save the family home, and finding more about her grandfather. There was just too much crammed into this book to fully develop any of the storylines properly. And this is where I lost interest in the story.

In my opinion, there were enough plot strands to make several books, rather than seeing them hurriedly pushed into one novel. It felt too rushed to enjoy any of them properly and I was frustrated that the characters seem to bounce from one issue to the next. The interview process was the most dramatic and I think this would have been enough to create an entertaining, festive, romance story all in one.

By the end of the book, I was glad to have finished it. I thought it slowed down considerably towards the closing and the conclusion felt prolonged. I could predict where Bea’s heart belonged and wanted to see more focus on this romantic element, caring less about her muddled family home. It definitely lessened the magic that was being established early on in the story.

As far as Christmas reads go, this is not my favourite. Whilst Moran has great festive references, I think the focus is elsewhere and the interview element is why I enjoyed the book as much as I did. It was crazy, unpredictable and entertaining and I could not imagine what I would have done in Bea’s situtation.

With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I read until 36%, and then the absolutely bonkers job interview was stressing me out so I skipped ahead and read the last 15%, and….uhhhh. This does not have the happy Christmas romance vibes I was expecting. It feels mildly grinchy to DNF, but it was not at all working for me on several levels.

Things:

• There is so much going on with this plot. Plots. There’s like 7 major plot lines. It is way too much for any book. Please, just pick one or two! I don’t need a romance, a job drama, an Evil Woman, Family Drama, ??? things, romance, an ex, etc. It’s just so much.

• Everything was described. I don’t need to know the details about everything.

• This relied heavily on flashbacks for building the romance and story, which didn’t quite work for me. It still never built a connection between Henry and Bea. Obviously, there’s probably more in that middle part I skipped, but the love declaration coming at the very end (and how it was done) makes it clear there wasn’t much of a build anyway.

• The job plot line…the way it resolved. I don’t…see that as being super happy, given certain elements. She’s got

Characters:

• At first I really disliked Bea. Why is she so mean and dismissive? What this immediate defensiveness? And then I met her family. Damn girl, with family like that, who needs enemies? She’s doing great despite them. And should honestly tell them to get bent. (I hate families who are excused from being shit because they “mean well” - take your intentions and gtfo, also how can there be any good intentions in saying something like “your piddly little job is meaningless to me”) I mean, look at this quote!

‘Henry is an astrophysicist, Mum,’ I snapped. ‘I’m a professional meteorologist!’

‘I think I’ll count the opinion of someone who’s actually been outside above that of a local weathergirl, given the BBC’s usual level of accuracy, if you don’t mind.’

I mean, Bea’s still kind of a jerk sometimes, but wow I get it now.

• Henry is just sort of a person. I don’t know. He’s fine? Pining? Whatever. Bea calls him a robot all the time, but he seems normal and quiet and that just makes her look rude.

• I hate everyone else, and boy are there a lot of them.

Overall, this did not work for me. Is it me? I don’t think so. Maybe my expectations on the level of Christmas-Hallmark vibes were off. I skipped the middle, but the elements were not shaping up into anything at all, just introducing more and more plot lines, and reading the last 15% did not instill confidence I’d enjoy reading that middle half.

I do hope this works for other people at least!

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. All the opinions are my own.

Bea Armstrong has made a name for herself as the local weather girl, but overheard a conversation that she was being let go for a younger version. Heading home to Charis House, the school in Sherwood Forest that her mum and dad run in their old family home, she was worried about telling her family. She is also not happy that Henry Fairfax, the neighbour her parents always thought she should marry, was also going to be there. When she gets a phone call about an interview to be the weather person on a national outlet, she has to figure out how to get to the interview, in Scotland. Henry comes to her rescue and offers to drive her, and she has no choice but to accept. Over the two days at the castle, she realizes that Henry is nothing like she thought, in fact, he is someone that she is very much attracted to.

I enjoyed this fun, festive Christmas story. There was family, friends, rivalry, secrets and a chance to make a difference and save a school, all mixed with Christmas festivities. I really liked Bea, as she was a genuine, caring person, who didn't realize how much others liked her and her weather person persona. Henry was also a lovable character. He has been in love with Bea for years and just wants her to be happy. He also wants her to be herself and not change for others. Everyone should have a friend like that to support and encourage them throughout life. At first, I was not happy with Bea's family as they tended to be rather demanding and closed minded regarding Bea's dreams, but they come around and grow to appreciate her as the story progresses. There are some not so nice secondary characters and some people that get their comeuppance, that are important to the story. I found a lot of humour in the 2 day interview Bea and Henry attended with activities that were a bit odd to determine who should get the job. I was actually thinking that Henry, aka the driver, might be offered the job. After Bea and Henry return to the family home, but story lagged a bit with some other characters being introduced, but the ending was wonderful and I loved the ending of the story and Bea's growth as a person. Rosalind Steele narrates this story with good voices, expression and emotion, adding to my enjoyment of this read/listen.

This was an adorable holiday romance set in Sherwood Forest, filled with a snowy road trip, years of one-sided pining, and a fun family mystery!

After travelling back home for Christmas, weather presenter Bea Armstrong is startled to discover her childhood nemesis, Henry Fairfax, at the dinner table. But of course one thing leads to another and the two are placed in forced proximity, Henry offering to taxi Bea to a last minute job interview in Scotland. And what a wacky, hilarious job interview it was!

Sweet, sweet Henry. Unapologetically nerdy, thoughtful, and completely pure-hearted, Henry was as adorable as can be. Initially I struggled with how Bea treated him—constantly jabbing at his smart mind and nerdy tendencies was a little ridiculous. But as Bea develops a deeper understanding of his personality, it was precious to see her love for him bloom.

Bea discovering what truly matters most in her career, family, and relationships was so heartwarming. The Armstrong family was boisterous and filled with love! I adored the moments with them. Lots of Christmas festivities in this one too, which was a bonus. It was definitely a feel-good story!

Let it Snow was not bad, but not great. I was really hoping to like this one more. Unfortunetly, there was just too much going on in this book for one story. I kept on reading because I liked some of the quirky characters, Henry, and the humor. Overall, a well written holiday book with a great cover.

This was a sweet, book to read. It was a Christmas read but, being as it’s hot and the moment it was a great way to cool down. This story was set mainly in Scotland and it was a will they, won’t they? book. The characters were all quirky and funny and I loved the ending. I did wonder if there would be a follow-up to this one just to see what happens next. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

I quite enjoyed the setup as local weather girl Bea Armstrong recently split from long-term boyfriend Adam and faces the prospect of spending Christmas with her parents in Sherwood Forest.

The idea that Bea's parents have always been keen for her to get with Henry adds to the awkwardness of the stay.

One of the themes of the novel is about career choices, and that was partly the reason why Bea and Adam didn't work out due to him focusing on his would-be rock-star lifestyle.

So the parallels of Bea being offered a dream role on a national station with the interview taking place in Scotland on Christmas Eve, meaning upsetting her family in the process seemed slightly conflicting with her break up with Adam.

Obviously plot reasons dictate this as it's a perfect opportunity for Bea and Henry to spend time together as he offers to drive her there.

I thought there were too many subplots that effected the pacing at times, that said it was still an easy and pleasant predicable read.

Thanks to NetGalley and Boldwood for the advanced copy of this title in return for an honest review.

I really, really, really wanted to love this book. I like Beth Morgan’s writing and I love festive books so this should have been a knockout, but it just didn’t hit those heights for me. For a book advertised as a Christmas book, for me there just wasn’t enough of it. I feel you could pick up the main story and set it in any season and it would still make sense. If something is promoted as a festive book and has a wintery title and a front cover that screams Christmas, I expected something more.

I also disliked nearly every character. Henry was the exception, although at times he was slightly twee. But I couldn’t stand any of the others - for various reasons. Even the lead, Bea, didn’t do it for me. They had no endearing qualities, weren’t particularly nice in the book and they didn’t transcend well for me.

I also didn’t find the main story entertaining. I enjoy reading about professions I haven’t experienced, but there wasn’t enough about meteorology to be interesting and fascinating, but it wasn’t exciting enough to be a fun plot point.

Bea’s parents run a school for disadvantaged children but even that isn’t explored. It’s dropped in as and when it may help the main story move on, but I don’t see the point of having something like this - and other background plots that I won’t go into detail for fear of spoiling - if it’s only there as background noise. It felt a bit pointless.

There’s almost too much happening and not enough happening at the same time. It felt like too much was crammed in to the 300-odd pages, but nothing was really developed enough for me.

I wouldn’t necessarily say the writing was bad. And judging by the other pre-publication reviews, I am definitely in the minority. I just found it boring. Like I wasn’t fussed about what happened and that’s always a red flag for me.

3.5 stars, rounded up due to the entertainment factor of this book. A local young female weather broadcaster is at the center of the book, and the narrator of an interesting tale. There is a lot going on here—sabotage by a competitor at her TV station, a demanding 3-generation family who expect her presence over the Christmas holidays, the craziest job interview process you can imagine. Oh, and a love story, of sorts. I deducted the stars because the conflicted romance went on a little too long for me—at least one full re-iteration could have been eliminated in my view. Still, it was a charming book. I also listened to the audio and Rosalind Steele, the narrator, was excellent—she made the book so entertaining to listen to and added some zest to the story. I recommend both book and audio for light and fun holiday reading.

Man labai patiko 👌

Beautiful love story romantic and funny

This book was as Christmas romance as you can possibly get.
I loved the characters and the way the author brings you into part of their lives.
This book had everything. Laughter, tears, romance and a feel good factor.
I love the friends to lover's trope and that we are kept until the very end to find out if Bea will marry Adam or Henry and if Challis House can be saved.
A quick read and an all round beautiful cosy, Christmas story

I really enjoyed Beth Moran’s novel How Not to be a Loser, and so when I was sent the blog tour invite for this I joined because it was a book by her.

I had high expectations for this book, but there were too many secondary characters.I studied Geography, and am interested in meteorology too, but I don’t like too much detail about a character’s job and there was too much of that, too.

I wanted to like all the characters but did like Henry. I also felt that the mention of the school where Bea’s parents with disadvantaged children could and should be a bigger part of the plot and was disappointed it wasn’t. As a person who has multiple complex disabilities, I feel every kind of educational setting should be represented in books, as well as feel books should represent people from all walks in life. I wanted to know who the children were and more about them.

Thanks to Beth Moran, Boldwood Books and Rachel’s Random Resources for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

Now that put me in some Christmas spirit!

Yes, I am not a fan of triangles or non-spicy books or many things that happened, BUT this was a really cute and safe read!

Also, with recently moving to the US, I miss the places I know, so it was lovely to be back, even if only in my head.

If you're looking for a cosy read this winter, I highly recommend this one.

So, I’ve had my thoughts spinning around in my head on what I really thought of this book, and the best I can come up with is, the book is good but not great. Ringing endorsement, I know.

I think the biggest problem is that the premise is a little deceiving regarding the romance. You think it is going to be an enemies to lovers romance, except the conflict doesn’t actually exist. Bea has hated Henry since they were kids because he was too nerdy and her parents really liked him? Um, okay, how about Henry, what’s his beef with Bea? Oh, he doesn’t have one and has been infatuated with her the whole time. So… Confusion.

Is it a friends to lovers romance? No, not really, and if Moran was going that direction, she ruined it with the obnoxious love triangle angle with the ex-boyfriend. It was never a point of conflict either, but rather just made the heroine look wishy-washy. We all knew how that was going to land, so the payoff fell flat.

I stayed with the book because I liked Henry, but by the end I was a little, “Dude, is she worth it?”

This book had everything you could possibly want in a Christmas romance novel and more! It had an evil manipulative coworker! It had a childhood friend/nemesis/nerd boy love interest! It had a rockstar ex-boyfriend! It had a drama and guilt ridden family Christmas week! It had a paternal parentage mystery plot! It had a "we need tons of money or else we have to CLOSE this SCHOOL" charity drive? It had a blizzard filled road trip?? It had a multi-day interview and reality show competition combo at some billionaires Scottish estate??? All smashed into one zany romcom!

The female main character, Bea, was both really mean and really selfless and giving? The male main character, Henry, was a cardboard cutout who was always ready to do whatever Bea needed of him without interfering with a personality of his own! Bea's family was also really mean and really loved to guilt Bea who was busy doing a hundred things at once (see list above- Bea was involved in every last one of these things). There were literally (figuratively) 8,000 side characters and settings and events going on all at once and it was all rather chaotic.

All that being said, it was exactly the kind of nonsense you see in every Hallmark Christmas movie. If you don't take anything seriously and skim through the flashbacks that kinda go nowhere you will have a silly Christmas romp of a book. Perfect Christmas fluff read where everything works out and Christmas is saved and you forget it all by the next day! It's a Christmas miracle!

Honestly I’m a bit disappointed by this book. I read another Beth Moran book before this one and that one was much better. Henry gave me the ick in the beginning that unfortunately didn’t go away while reading. I’m not a big fan of love triangle’s especially when they are SO predictable. This is supposed to be a Christmas romance, but the Christmas vibe was on the back burner sadly.

Let It Snow follows the story of a local weather reporter, a meteorologist, Bea Armstrong. Including her family’s, her grandmother’s, and everything else in between.
I wasn’t even halfway through the book and there were already so many things going on. It was just hard to follow all the storylines that the author tried to squeeze in a single book.

* There was an annoying colleague who tried to sabotage her work.
* The two-day interview that turned out to be like a reality competition show that was just, nonsense?
* Then there was Charis House.
* Nana Joy’s showbiz life and their hunt for their grandfather.

All of that on top of the love triangle between her, her childhood betrothed, and her ex-boyfriend.

I had to put it down a couple of times and rub my head because of how chaotic everything was.

And then there was Bea, who thought everything revolved around her. She was annoying. I loved Henry and I could say that he didn’t deserve Bea. Almost the entire time she kept on saying Henry was like a robot, robo-Henry, or whatsoever. But to me, he wasn’t even close to a robot. I couldn’t understand where she got that from.

The ending wasn’t even that good. For me, it only resolved one thing, that is their attempt to revive Charis House. But everything else felt forced.

I don’t feel convinced about the resolution regarding her problems at work. Summer was fired for sabotaging her work, and that was just it. If I were in her position, I couldn’t continue working for a ‘boss’ who wasn’t professional, and who slept with his employees.

As for her family, they really had a tight relationship but it was toxic. I can’t imagine myself growing up in that kind of family.

Lastly, for the romance part. I just couldn’t feel the chemistry between her and Henry. And did it really take her just a few days to fall for the ‘insufferable Henry’? They’d known each other all their lives, but there wasn’t really enough connection built for them to just magically be head over heels for each other, especially for Bea’s part.

I was surprised this book had a lot of positive reviews on GoodReads. Well, maybe this was just not my cup of tea. It just didn’t do it for me. The author’s writing wasn’t that coherent.

'Let it Snow' is an easy, light, clean romantic holiday read. Amongst the chaos, which seems to be Bea's life, emerges a self-realisation that maybe all she really needs has always been in front of her.

Bea Armstrong is the local TV weather girl and come rain or shine, she brings warmth and interaction with all her viewers - because connecting is what people do, 'it proves there are people out there who care about each other.' But while Bea is concerned over the welfare of her viewers, she has actively been avoiding her family, her recent breakup, and now, her childhood betrothed. Bea just simply wants to fit in - or does she?

Beth Moran's 'Let it Snow', gives us all the calamity and chaos that comes with Christmas, but delivers a journey of self-discovery and realisation of what truly matters, 'being true to yourself and what you believe.' Although the story might have been light on details concerning family quirks and history, and at times seemed to introduce more issues than it solved, it is a classic Christmas romantic comedy that suits the holiday.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read and give my opinion on this book.

I understand this is fiction, but what in the world?!

Things that annoyed me in this book:

1) Some random lady calls up Bea and asked if she got this email from some famous TV network, so random. Bea made up some strange reason she never got the email?? Like it was so confusing and dumb

2) Bea left to go interview with the network and shocking, Henry her long lost love wants to drive her in the snow. She gets there, and it’s a game show type interview, where there is a “weather hunt.” Like what?! Another reason why this book was dumb.

3) Grandmas Joy falls, so there was trouble in Christmas paradise, wow didn’t see that coming *I say this sarcastically*

4) Maybe it should’ve snowed the entire time in the book to keep Bea at home celebrating Christmas. I feel like this would’ve been a better plot than a weather hunt and some loser boyfriend named Adam.
