Stalker vs. Stalker

Rate this book
Samuel Hawkes loves that I hate his pretty face.
Exchanging scowls with your exact opposite is self-care.
But when we make our office feud an everywhere feud…
The word “obsessed” gets harder to dismiss.
Suddenly, the look in his eyes is less “You’re a dork, Ellie,” and more “I want to break you.”

And I’m afraid to find out what that means. (Hopefully closer to ice-pop-split-in-half than egg-thrown-against-a-wall. He’ll make fun of me if I ask.)

Before anyone says “he’s trash, ignore him,” let me first agree with you and second, explain.

Watching Samuel Hawkes is not my hobby.

It’s secretly my job.

I work undercover in this office, as a sleuth.

The guy’s suspected of stealing millions of dollars or something—I don’t know, it doesn’t matter, because the only crime he’s committed under my watch is tormenting me. He thinks I’m monitoring him for fun, so he pays me just as much attention. Maybe even more.

He remembers everything about me.

He wins every scuffle.

Most annoyingly perfect jawline. Broadest shoulders. Fanciest car. Best smile-wink combo without accidentally catching our boss, Mr. Paterson, in the crossfire. (I don’t want to talk about it.)

If I can withstand this himbo hurricane of a man and investigate my way into his closet full of skeletons, there’s a much-needed cash reward coming my way.

But as he watches me watch him, and we both get closer to the enemy than we’d ever intended (he smells like a pine tree), the mysterious Mr. Hawkes is catching up to my lead in the one competition I was definitely winning.

Is his pretend-stalking… kinda real?

And worst of all…

Am I into it?

Sorry, mom. Sorry, therapist.

I’ll un-think that thought, live a well-adjusted life, and collect my paycheck before my carefully guarded walls and all these secrets come crumbling down on me.

…But am I into it?

An over the top, enemies-to-lovers rom com with big laughs, big swoons, and big thrills, spanning fake dates to car chases, as the tough and lovable Ellie braves everything bad for us that’s so, so good in books.

2,5 ? 🤔

Takibe takip 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️😂

"I’m teasing her, and she giggles, straightening her posture, melting my heart. I’m so fucking obsessed with you."

This book was unexpectedly so good! It had a perfect balance of romance and humour. The plot towards the end got a bit messy tbh but nevertheless, I still enjoyed it. Ellie & Samuel were such a hilarious and swoon-worthy pair! Their personalities were equally strong and when they finally clashed, the story became even more amusing. With one plot twist you won't see coming, the characters finding love and humour in a serious situation making it turn unserious and a sudden car chase scene included, this book is one entertaining ride! If you like to read some enemies to lovers, workplace romances, this is a must read!

This was a delightful mess. Pure chaos, I've no idea why I loved it 🤣

The plot is straight out of a soap opera, or some sexed up adolescent mind. The competitive banter was comical.

It was ridiculously cheesy and a super fun read.
If you're looking for a light hearted smutty read this is it.

this book IS PHENOMENAL. SHE TOOK LIKE HALF OF MY FAV TROPES AND COMBINED IT INTO A STEAMY GREAT BOOK. READ IT.
Lets talk about this book. First of all, that cover is cover porn. This book was soooo good, the author’s writing style is soo good and the book genuinely made me laugh out loud multiple times. Additionally the plot twists were confusing af and added more depth to the story. Me love. I really enjoyed this book and hope the author writes more!!!!!!!
The tropes depicted in this book are: stalker romance, workplace romance, workplace enemies romance, enemies to lovers, stalkers to lovers, hate to love, forced proximity romance, guy falls first, jealous guy, touch her and you die

Omg. This is the best book I've read this year. It has everything I want: a healthy relationship ✓, obsessed with each other couple ✓, spicy romance ✓ + enemies to lovers ✓. I have to say though, that part one was brilliant and all, but part two was the cherry on top. I love all the imaginative ways the author imagined the two stalkers interacting. Like PLEASE. Also, the hilarity of the smush scenes was superb. 10/10. Recommended for romance lovers who enjoy a bit of humor.

This book is just pure chaotic energy. It starts of simple enough, is quite funny and then just runs off the tracks 😂 The second half is absolutely bonkers, let’s just throw everything out the window and start from scratch. I’m still wheezing.

I mean, I read this book based on a Reddit ad, and this was back when the book had a much shorter synopsis/excerpt so what was I expecting. The idea was strong but sadly wasn’t executed well. Also, wanted to add, the current synopsis I feel gives away too much of the story.

How is something so hot this refreshing?

This was a refreshing break from dark and dirty. GREAT dialogue, wonderfully original writing style, hot as hell main characters. Gotta say, Katie is truly full of charm. Thanks for sharing your world.

the second part doesn’t match the first one at all😭 like it was going so well and then they just get immersed into this chaotic competition, with bombs and car chases?

Wtf did I just read ffs 😭😭😭😭 I liked the first part of the book when they were enemies the second part was just too chaotic Sam and Ellie are just clowns 🤡 and are terrible at their jobs . The dialogues are cringy and cartoonish. Plus the first part of the book (especially the opening scene) was too similar to the hating game. Why did this author think it would be a great idea to romanticize stalking???!! 😭😭😭 . I enjoyed it sha ( the first part)

Okay, so it's a good read if there's nothing else at all. It felt very flimsy and lacked substance.

Was it good? Sorta. I had no idea what was happening 99% of the time, but it was so cute. This is a very unserious read and it was just cute to read. Sam is perfect.

didnt go the way i wanted it to. i thought he was an actual stalker but theyre both just detectives investigating each other. this would be fine, but i didnt like how they found out halfway in the book. the scene where they found out was anti climatic itself.
book had a unique premise but it kind of fell flat. i also felt like the dialogue and writing was kind of juvenile. i love a good banter and comedy in my romance but some of the dialogue between the mcs felt flat and cringe. like literally there was a scene where they were like "omg your a detective? me too!" and the whole comparing their skills scene made me cringe. was not giving 28 year old OR adults.
disappointing.

idk how to feel about sam. the whole logan thing was giving alpha ceo. wdym he punched a dumbell out of the air??? and why is logan, a grown ass man, screeching, whining, and running away after, acting like a whole ass child? he was so comically pathetic it took me out.

smut was also bad. the lead up to it was good (i giggled at the changing room scene) but the actual first scene in the conference room was lowkey ass.

that being said, there were moments where i let out a chuckle. maybe a cackle. but it wasnt enough unfortunately.

This was fun but I felt like I had to suspend my disbelief a bit more than I would like for a romance. The situation was interesting and very creative but some of the things that happened were just a little far fetched (the car chase, the building being the only one to collapse with no real explanation, and the idea that months after their video went viral people would still swarm them in public?). It was cute, I just wasn’t obsessed

it started off okay and i was trying to understand what the plot is but i couldn't understand a damn thing, the plot was so ridiculous, it was all over the place. the whole time i was in disbelief over the fact like 'what the hell am i reading?'. i was expecting some hilarious banter but it fell short of that as well. this book was so boring, i was skimming through the pages all along and ended up DNFing.

3.5 ⭐️

That was insane!

Did I enjoy it? Yes
Was it what I was expecting? Not at all!

The story started very similar to ‘The Hating Game’ but then somehow became ‘The Fast and the Furious’ and ‘James Bond’ - mental!

DNF end of part one

This could have been great, but the writing was brutal. Too similar to the hating game - in a bad way - that I couldn’t continue.
