Darius Torres is an undercover spy for the rebellion against the Elders, and the last piece of the puzzle the rebellion needs to make their final stance. Being undercover for two and a half years and standing by while innocents are hurt has worn him down. Despite knowing what he has to do is necessary, he struggles to resolve who he is and what he stands for. His morals are challenged every day he has to participate in and witness the Elders cruel plans. While he feeds the information he gets to Thaddeus, the leader of the rebellion, he also finds himself sinking into a darkness that haunts him both awake and asleep. He prays to the Goddess for one bright spot to get him through the rest of his mission and his request is seemingly granted through a weaponmaster who turns out to be his mate.

Gina Rodriguez has dedicated endless hours and missed sleep to do her part in the war, while battling her instincts to track down her missing Alpha and best friend. However, she knows her best bet is to follow the assignment she was given: design and produce weapons for the war. She’s sent to an ally pack where she can do her work unnoticed by the Elders and it’s there she finds her mate, the Elder spy who’s seen enough she can feel the heaviness inside him. She wants to help him through his taxing mission but her mate isn’t the only one who’s haunted, and losing the only stability she’s ever known with her Alpha throws Gina into a triggering spiral where she battles both her past, and her own mind.
