The man who I did my damndest to please, even kill for, turned out to be a blood sucking monster. His hypnotic eyes invaded my mind and planted a nightmare within it, brainwashing me into thinking life on a floral plantation, as a slave, was the perfect life. What more could a girl dream for? The poison my master planted inside my mind was pulled out by their roots and I found freedom and acceptance amongst my new coven.
Centuries have passed and now a rumor of a war within the vampiric community threatens us. I now find myself facing a new nightmare. Ancient fears I thought I conquered are now clouding my mind. Is the vampire who created me out of hiding and back to destroy the life I created for myself, along with my loved ones? Perhaps. Perhaps not. But things have changed since our last encounter. I have changed… I am Sassandra of the Ooljéé coven. And I am no longer afraid.
I thoroughly enjoyed taking the journey through Sassandra's life as a human and then a vampire. Her story is one that cut me deep right away and continued to resonate with me as I finished it. But Sass is far from the only interesting character in this dark novel. Castiel Skull has created a whole cast of characters that each add their own flavor to the story, and it's clear that he knows exactly who each one is. The Vampire's Drudge is wonderfully dark, twisted, and full of bloody revenge.
Fabulous vampire horror novel! It’s the kind of book that you don’t know you’ve been craving until you read it. Marrying classic and much-loved vampire lore with a story that is new and fresh, it’s a very enjoyable book. The events during the Civil war as a backdrop, was a very nice touch. The characters are vivid, each with their own colourful background, and I hope for future novels to explore this further. I was absolutely blown away by how much I enjoyed it.
A great historical fiction novel. I love the time Era and the many settings. I love the coming of age tail as you watch the main characters learn the truth about the world around her so she can fight back. There is necessary loss along the way, but it only drives the story and characters further on their mission.
Castiel really captures the life of vampires in this book. There are small details that pull the story together. The revenge is sweet with this one. I am looking forward to reading any other books he writes.
It took me less than 3 days to read this book. It was well written and well executed. Reading this book I couldn't put it down for I thought that I was apart of the book. It sucks you in to being a part of it. You feel what they are feeling. Thank you for writing this wonderful masterpiece. Becca!
