When she's not writing, she can be found with her nose in some other fictional world or having conversations with people no one else can see, but it's okay. She's a writer ;-)

This is a solid second chance read. I’m not sure the author sold how oblivious the H could have been wit everything that hurt the h all of those years ago but it meant that he could have been hurt too by their emotional and then physical distance.

Throughout the story we find out that the
H and h were best friends from birth. They each loved each other but the h suffered from self esteem issues and the H though that the h was too sweet and innocent to take their relationship any further.

A bully to the h set it up that she would come over to the H’s place with an expectation to take their relationship to the next step. Instead, the bully is in bed with the H and the h walks in and sees them.

She cuts the H out of her friendship and he is hurt and confused by this.

The bully and her mates continue to bully the h. When H hears it, he shuts it down.

In the present, the H is a fill in for a band and the h has left her fiancé and her family business due to a) it’s not her passion and b) her dad and her fiancé are accused of breaking the law.

She gets a job in the wardrobe department for the band. They are both surprised to see each other all of these years later. H being hurt that the h cut him off and never communicated why. The h being hurt from assuming he set her up to see him in bed with her bully.

Sparks still fly between these two.

They get their HEA and like lots of books I’ve read recently, the ending wraps up like the freeze frames at the end of a movie based on a true story where you find out what that character is up to these days. It’s all neat and tidy with a bow but minimal details.

All up-a solid read and I look forward to the rest of the series.

I HATE books where the hero dates the heroines bully. How is that romance? It just means he is a weak ass that has no spine or enough love for the heroine to look for any other girl in the world. I wish authors would stop. It's either the bully, best friend, or sister of the heroine. It's also extremely lazy.

Also the book opens with him about to propose to the BULLY 😂🤣 but he finds her cheating instead. My theory of not trusting authors who dont have a picture of themselves in their profile pic continues to be validated.

After reading all of Nola Marie's The Men of River City series, I knew I was a forever fan. When I learned about this new series, I was excited and ready for Maddox Master's story. I was initially disappointed when I realized the first book would not be about him, but an entirely knew character. That disappointment was unfounded. Of course it was because Nola is an amazing writer.
Josie and Angel were amazing. Their relationship was complex and three dimensional. This was not a book easily placed into a single trope. They were once friends. Lies and deception broke their hearts. Years later, by chance and circumstance, they are thrown together and the tension is high. Their anger is clear and defined, except it really isn't justified.
Eventually a culmination of events lead to the two clearing the air. More than that, they learn the love they've harbored for years has never gone away. It was just a mask because "it's easier to hate than to hurt."
Love, LOVE the ending. It was beautiful and sweet and everything a romance should be.
Can't wait for the next story, and I am really hoping that prologue was an indication of whom the stars will be.

Goodbye Is a Second Chance
(Sons of Sin)
Written by: Nola Marie

A Bookstagram friend recommended that I give Author Nola Marie a try. I did, I enjoyed the book and I have plans to go and read her River City series. I also know she has a new book coming out, so I’m all in for that!

Goodbye Is A Second Chance is a highly emotional book. It deals with bullying, the backlash of divorce on children and self-doubt and self-worth. None of these subjects are easy to deal with but all happen in the real world. Nola Marie’s care for her characters shines through. She has given them time (an entire book) to develop and she has done a wonderful job taking them from the damaged people they were to characters who have become better people. Who have managed to work through their issues and who have discovered sometimes the one you have loved all your life, really is the person you need to help you heal.

Misunderstanding, lies, embarrassment, hurt and betrayal all are part of this wonderful story of Rock Star Angel Martin and the love of his life Josephine Byers.

Running from a family/business debacle Josephine (and architect) leaves Los Angeles and moves to New York to move away from the craziness. Having trouble getting a job as an architect is just not going to happen, however, she is offered a job in fashion so to speak, as a wardrobe assistant and it’s there that she runs in to the person she has been holding responsible for much of her bullying issues. Is he really responsible though? Has she ever given him a chance to hear his side of what happened?

Pages in this book get flipped quite quickly, you are always wondering what is going to happen next and as layers of history get revealed feelings change.

I recommend Author Nola Marie, if her other books are as good as this one was, we have a winning author to add to our one-clicks.

Well if Nola Marie didn’t just put me in my place for not generally reading rock star or friends to lovers romance tropes. Goodbye Is a Second Chance is so much more. I’m classifying this story as a contemporary, complicated, friends to enemies to lovers, second chance rock star romance. Truth be told, I am probably still missing some elements.

Angel and Josephine basically shared a special connection since birth. This long-standing relationship got blown apart in high school with the constant bullying of Josephine and the manipulation of Angel by several students. The things Josephine went through are unimaginable to this reader. My heart broke for her and anyone in real life that is on the receiving end of such cruelty.

I did get somewhat frustrated with the angst of it all when they met up again a decade later. A couple of times I wanted to literally reach into the pages and knock some sense into the H/h. Band mates and friends play a part in the love/hate drama that ensues. The band was not completely as I expected since they all have their own money and truly are in the business for the love of music. Of course they each appear to have their own complex history.

This was my first read of the author and will not be my last. Especially as I am now invested and need to know what happens to the other three band members. I highly recommend this book to anyone that appreciates a love story with ALL THE FEELS and then some. You will not be disappointed.

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This is the first book in Nola Marie’s Sons of Sin series. This band was introduced in her Men of River City series, but it isn’t necessary to have read those books first. (But really, that was such a great series, why would you deprive yourself)? And happily, we do get to catch up with the guys and gals from River City in this book as well.

Goodbye is a Second Chance is a rockstar romance, but so much more as well. I’m not really a fan of that subgenre, mainly because I don’t feel that many rockstar romance are particularly realistic. But Nola Marie does an excellent job of showing the hard work, the hard partying, and enough technical aspects that it’s easy to get swept up in the chaotic nature of the lifestyle in this book. It was extremely well done.

But as I said, that isn’t all Goodbye is. Josie and Angel’s story is more than an enemies to lovers and more than a second chance romance. It’s raw, real, and like all of Nola Marie’s books, both heartbreaking and heartwarming. The fusion makes for a powerful story that’s difficult to put down. I in turns got misty, growled in aggravation, laughed, and very nearly cheered aloud while reading this. (At one point, my husband gave me a really weird look lol). Would highly recommend this book to anyone. And I’m so looking forward to the next! I just can’t decide yet who my favorite band member is yet. Dane’s just such a genuinely good guy, he’s adorable. Angel is the brooding, any fallen, well angel lol. Then there are Maddox & Ryder. So damaged, so mysterious, and so lovable. Of course, there are also a few more guys mentioned that I hope get stories as well (Liam, definitely). Maybe by the end of the series, I’ll be able to choose one... or maybe I’ll just take them all!!

Being the picky reader I am, I am truly honored to have received this ARC copy of GOODBYE IS A SECOND CHANCE in exchange for a review.

True love never dies or really leaves you and like our two, Angel and Josie, realizes soon enough - if you run away because of misunderstandings and non communications, you will find yourself runnig head first straight back into them.

The book starts off with alot of drama. But this book is also more than an enemy to lovers love story. Its heartbreaking and heart warming. This fabulous combination had me glued to each each page.

10 years after Angel and Josie was ripped apart they are unwillingly reconnected when they enzd up working together. But they soon realize that they have to face the past and figure out what happened between them. You can see the real, true and raw emotions of every one involved.

Nola marie has an impeccable writing style and literally had me begging for more. She also does an exceptional job at showing the true aspects of live including being bullied in school and what trauma it creates. But leaves you with the positive that you can end up being stronger.

I would definitely highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. I would gladly give more 🌟 if it was possible.

❤️Nola marie thank you so much for this terrific book.❤️ It was a pleasure reading it.

Thank You, Nola, for sending us a copy to review and read. We greatly appreciate it.

Goodbye Is A Second Chance is a lovely book that touches on subjects that may be hard for people to read but the manner in which it is shown and presented brings soo much light to the subject and gives out understanding of how the victims can feel that you cant help but not only be grateful that the subject is brought out but also admire the writer for writing it.

Josephine is a woman, who was bullied in school causing her to have many insecurities throughout her life. It affects everything she does including the relationships she forms, has formed and has left behind. She has lived a life to please her parents that is until everything falls apart and She goes running to New York.

Angel is the Bass player in an up and coming rock band out on their first tour and becoming a huge success but one look across a crowded diner and then again in a changing room whilst preparing to film their video brings the past and all the questions he has held off to the surface.

Both these characters have many questions for each other and the journey they find themselves on leads to many problems that are faced with in life. This book could be a trigger for some as drugs and bullying are featured so bear that in mind if you do read this book.

I really enjoyed the book and felt the story itself was meant to be told. My only issue is that at some points there was soo much detail that I felt myself slipping away from what was actually being said and then on other things the detail would be soo minimal that you were asking yourself what the hell happened. This does not distract from the story though and it really was an enjoyable read that will give you an insight into how events in life can change the way we are as humans.

My Overall Rating is 4 💋💋💋💋
My Passion Rating is 2 💋💋

STANDALONE
SECOND CHANCE ROMANCE
ROCKSTAR

Rating: 5 STARS ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book had one of the all-time best beginnings ever. I challenge anyone to try and stop reading after the first few pages! The moment I started reading, this book became an obsession. I needed to read it, I had to.

I loved Angel and Josie's story so much! All I can say is that from start to finish you will be rooting for these two! They are one of those couples that you wish they have their happy ending!! 💜

Friends turned enemies because of something that happened when they were teenagers...They haven't seen eachother for years but are forced to work together and be around one another. So much longing, angst, and drama...and through it all you feel their love...

The writing was so real! Nola had a way of describing things that put you 'right there' in the moment seeing everything play out in front of your eyes. It was witty, smooth with the right touch of snark that kept me smiling throughout.

This is a book about taking chances and following your heart and dreams. It was a feel-good rock star romance with just the right amount of everything you could possibly want in one.

This was my first Nola Marie book and I am happy to say that I am definitely a fan of hers now!! Her writing and character development was wonderful. This book was brilliant, beautiful and heartbreaking! It made me happy, sad and The end left me with a happy heart and a smile on my face. I just felt nothing but ABSOLUTE LOVE!!

If you’re looking for a fantastic first love story, a second chance romance story, a friends to lovers to enemies story, or a beautifully emotional story- Goodbye Is a Second Chance is the book for you.

It's a MUST READ. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND putting it on your TBR and please do so NOW! You'll thank me later 😘

I have read and enjoyed Nola Marie’s Men of River City series, and this new book is a spin-off of some characters previously met. This book had me from the very beginning, who had hurt Angel? What was Josephine’s story and why did she now hate Angel? Josie is now a wardrobe assistant for the latest hot band, but who is one of the leading players? Angel. His hatred of even the sight of Josephine, causes some real problems as the rest of the group (through their coke filled days) neither understand nor want her to leave. As the time goes on, we see that despite what has gone before, Angel still cares for Josie and wants to make her happy. The incident in high school, badly handled by Angel is why they both still hurt. I hate bullying and bullies so this at times was upsetting. It was lovely to read about Maddox again, still nursing an unrequited love and self medicating the pain away. He needs a happy ever after before it’s too late, the poor soul has suffered long enough. Nola Marie’s writing just gets better and better and l can’t wait for the next in this Band based Son’s of Sins series.

I loved this book and I couldn't put it down once I started reading it. This was a great rockstar romance read. I loved Josie and Angel and how they both fought for what they wanted and not giving up when life got hard. This was a great way to kick of this new series by Nola.

It is decided. Nola Marie has become my favorite author. Everything she writes is amazing. It either turns me on or makes me cry or both. Her writing style has become so familiar at this point that I could read one line and know it's her.
Angel and Josephine's story has been, by far, the best one yet. She touches on the subject of bullying and its lifelong effects. Anyone who read this book and asked why they didn't just get over it, obviously, has never truly experienced bullying. It is something that engrains itself to you.
I loved watching as Josie and Angel grew together, finally putting the past behind them and embracing their future.
And of course, I can't wait for the next story.

Simply... I loved this book!

Angel is everything you need from a rockstar who is broody, jaded and tormented by his first heartbreak.
josephine is running from a life she never wanted, but she runs right into her past... Angel her childhood best friend and someone she thought she loved.
their story is filled with angst and so much passion. They hate as much as they love. The other characters in the book are just as intriguing.

What could cause two best friends for years to literally hate each other? Josie and Angel grew up together and were best friends until the night that friendship turned into hate.
Nola writes a heartbreaking romance that pulls on your heartstrings.

Josie is trying to get away from her family's troubles but their troubles are stopping her from working. She ends up getting a job as a fashion assistant. Problem is that she went to school to be an architect. Her past catches up with her at her first job. She is working with a rock band but the one person she hates most in the world is the bassist for the band, Angel. The thing is she has become a strong, feisty and beautiful woman over the years and Angel doesn't know how to deal with it.

Angel was Josie's protector growing up as she was bullied because of her looks and personality. He had always been there for everything for her until that one night. He secretly loved her but felt he was never good enough for her. He has sworn off women as he has had his heart ripped out of his chest by the two most important women in his life. What happens when he sees Josie getting his bands wardrobe ready for a video? Will he be able to handle seeing her? Will he try to figure out why Josie hates him so much? Can they get over whatever happened all those years ago?

What happens when they have to go on tour for a few months together? Will all the verbal fighting, hateful words that are said and the crying get the truth out? Can they ever get past whatever that night?

Nola does an outstanding job of writing about how bullying can affect you your whole life. It eats you up from the inside and at times it never leaves your mind. Her character development was fantastic as you saw Josie and Angel changing and growing as they tried to come to terms with what happened. Nola had me riding an emotional rollercoaster but believe me when I tell you it was worth the ride.

Goodbye is a Second Chance is so much more than your average hate to love novel! It is reveal and raw and deals with some serious traumas, insecurity and at times denial. I love that the author chose some big situations and dove deep into them rather than just skimming the surface.

Angel is the rockstar who refuses to see himself doing anything wrong and Josie is the former best friend who is in love but is stuck in her belief, refuses to acknowledge she may not have all the facts and runs at the first sign of conflict.

At times I wanted to jump threw the phone and slap both main characters. I loved when side characters who played a pivotal role in the story finally told them to both grow up and get their shit together. It was frustrating in the best way possible. A HEA after I have been so mad at the characters and then swoons when they all make the changes and sort their stuff out is my favorite kind of HEA.

I am so excited to see how this series progresses with the rest of the band mates and their love stories!

“It was so much more than that.  It was the merging of the universe.  The sun, moon, and stars were in perfect alignment last night.  It was the coming together of everything that should’ve always been.”

This is my very first Nola Marie book.
It won't be my last I am already looking forward to reading the rest of this series,as I am so impressed with her writing.
There is alot going on within this book.there is so much back story to Angel and Josie's relationship.
They were friends and now enemies because of something that happened when they were teenagers...They haven't seen eachother for a long time but are now forced to work together and being around one another dredges the past back into focus.
But even though they are hating on eachother, they clearly still have feelings for one another and there is so much chemistry.
This is a fantastic Rockstar Romance but it isn't all hearts and flowers,it has so much emotion and rawness, steam and drama. It held me captive throughout,I could not put it down.
Nola Marie has done a wonderful job of creating realistic characters that you can't stop yourself from liking. Also describing what it is like to be on tour with rockstars and the highs, lows and pitfalls it can bring...and also how the pains of the past can leave deep scars that are very difficult to forget or erase.
I really enjoyed reading this story even though sometimes it was difficult to read about all that Josie and Angel endured. It sure is a rocky road for this couple.
A Brilliant read that I highly recommend.

I received this book from free from the author in exchange for my honest review.

When I first started this book, it came across as a lot of drama. The petty kind, which is not to my taste. The more I read, the more I realized that this book is based on the very common relationship issue called “lack of communication”.

Josephine and Angel went from being besties to enemies after one fateful night in high school. This night sparked 10 years of non-communication between them and a world of misunderstandings that caused a couple broken hearts. When Josephine takes a job as the assistant wardrobe assistant for a band, she is shocked to see that she recognizes the bass player - Angel. From here it’s a rollercoaster of emotions.

The story includes flashbacks so we know what happened from the point of view of both Josephine and Angel. We see the raw emotion of everyone involved. It’s a great story with plenty of steam.

I also love that there is an anti-bullying campaign built into this book. As someone who has been bullied, it is near and dear to my heart. This book brings attention to the problem and it’s perfection.

Overall 4 stars - only because the beginning had me eye rolling over the drama. That’s not my thing.

I was counting down the days for Nolas new series. I fell in love with her Men of a River City so I knew I was going to love whatever she gave us next. I was so excited too when some of the characters from her previous books showed up in, Goodbye is a Second Chance.

“What am I going to do with you?”
“Break my heart over and over.”

Josephine, the daughter of a notorious criminal. The woman who fell in love with her best friend, Angel when she was younger. Who she never fell out of love with.

Angel, the rock star who fell in love with Josie when they were kids, and never fell out of love with her.

These two! The slow burn, angst, the emotions. Also, can I mention how protective Angel was, always watching out for his Josie..

“My Josie.”

All the characters were so likable! His band mates. Who we know from, The Men of River City books are back and sweeter than ever! Dane, Maddox, Ryder (insert sexy accent). Ah! Yes please!

The author takes us through some flashbacks to when they were kids and boy some tear jerkers. Also, so adorable. It’s Dust in the Wind. ;)

“No one else could have my heart... I was born to love you.” 😭

Wow, just wow! This book is a hidden gem and the first of the Sons of Sin Series. It was so good I couldn't stop reading. Josephine (Josie) hasn't seen Angel in years. After being bullied most of her life she's finally found her strength. The only issue is Angel...he is her one weakness. As the past collides with the present they must learn to work with each other and try to put their hate for each other aside. The problem with that... "It's easier to hate than to hurt."
The amount of bullying Josephine went through broke my heart. The author did an amazing job describing all her torment and the strength she found within herself.
Sons of Sin has everything you expect from a rock and roll group...sex, drugs, and rock and roll. I can't wait to find out about the other character's backstories and see where they end up. You'll love each character.

I received an ARC copy of this book and this is a honest and fair review

OMG – what a great start to what I am sure will be another great series by Nola Marie! High school best friends (Josie and Angel) torn apart by deception, lies, betrayal, and misunderstanding. Years later, Angel is still mad at the one person who he thought would never leave him and Josie is still full of hatred and animosity after that one fateful night. When they are thrown together years later, they both claim to hate each other and want nothing to do with the other, but their actions when they see the other with the opposite sex says otherwise!

I have always said communication is a key aspect to any relationship – this is something that Josie would not let Angel do. She dropped all ties after that night. Angel never knew what he did. But what happens when the tormentors who made Josie’s life a living hell in high school resurface? It’s nothing but turmoil, insecurities, and lack of communication. I loved the playlist that was included with the story and adds to the feelings the characters portraying. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Goodbye is a Second Chance, just tore me apart, made me feel all the pain and emotion between the characters and also the love and chemistry between them brought on some happy tears.

The story is so beautiful and full of emotional roller coaster from the start to the end and I was unable to put it down till I finished it in one setting. With Nola Marie you know that it’s going to be an amazing story and she never disappoints

After ten years Josie and Angel cross paths when they end up working together. But their past has been damaged and their relationship is now full of hate. However they realize that they have to face the past and figure out what happened so they can leave it behind and have a second chance.

Bullying is a real struggle among the young people and as the author described the different ways of challenges that Josie had to deal with, it was truly heartbreaking and I’m glad that even with all that , she became stronger and gained more self confidence.

After the series of The Men of River City, it was nice to see the characters back in this story and I can’t wait for more.

Thank you @nolamarie for this amazing story ❤️❤️❤️ and I would highly recommend this to add on your list ❤️

Some loves never leave you and running away will find you running straight back to them.

High school may be a decade behind her, but the bullying created wounds that never heal, especially when the deepest wound was the loss and (supposed) betrayal of her best friend and the boy she loved. Josephine thinks she has outgrown and outrun her past until a new life and a new job send her straight back into it.

Angel has never forgotten the girl who stole his heart when they were just kids and never understood why she suddenly tore herself from his life a decade ago. Now the bass player in an up and coming rock band, he has to finally feel all the feels when she suddenly reappears in his life.

Can they clear the air, say goodbye to the past, and give love a second chance?

Sexy, edgy, and beautiful.

This story was raw and emotional, and beautifully edgy. It gives you a look into both the glamor and the grit of rockstar life and the characters are realistically flawed. The love between Angel and Josie can be felt in the words, leaving you no questions how they really feel towards one another, if they could just get past the demons that plague their messy past, you can feel that bright, shiny new beginning right within reach. The romance was as swoony as you get, and the steamy scenes were off the charts hot. If you're looking for the full package rockstar romance with all the deep emotion along with the rough edges, this is my recommend!

Josephine and Angel’s story is over-coming past hurt and insecurities.
Josephine is one stubborn woman. She uses her hurt, anger, and even her insecurities as shields to protect herself. Watching her grow and move past all of that is such a beautiful part of this story.
Angels possessiveness and protectiveness helps him to break through all the baggage they both are carrying around.
Their story was full of ups and downs. It was well delivered.

I really enjoyed this book. Unlike most romances, we do see the characters have relationships with other people which was surprising and I didn't hate that. I will say I've never read any of Nola's other books and I understand there are a lot of characters from her other books who appear here and for the most part I was able to follow it as a standalone. I loved the tragedy of their second chance and the reveal of everything that happened to lead to them feeling so much hate for one another. It was beautifully written and I'll definitely pick up another one of her books.
