The closed in proximity creates tension between the two as the bond begs them to complete a bond Juliette can’t commit to. As a result, Hunter puts all his energy into helping Zachariah and Enid get together. Zachariah’s been spending months trying everything he can think of to get the worst parts of himself under control. He’s never let anyone close enough to really see him, not even his closest friends, but his bond with Enid doesn’t allow him to hide anymore. While Zach battles with his intimacy problems and nightmares, he also trains in secret so he can stand by Enid’s side for the upcoming battle to end a war stretched over centuries. One that will end at their last stand.
