For this book, I have only a few main things I want to say.

First, the authors give good questions for teens to think about; for example, in the chapter about dating, they ask the following questions:
(1) What is dating all about for you?
(2) What do you think happens during a date?
(3) What is your idea of a "perfect" date?
I find it very helpful when authors give questions to help us think critically.

Second, the authors lay out red flags to watch out for when dating. Some red flags that they gave were controlling behavior, crude jokes about you, taunting or embarrassing comments about you, intimidation, and abuse. Abuse was also explained in a section titled "Some Signs of an Abusive Relationship". Because many teens can find it hard to figure out if their relationships are healthy, this is important.

Third, the authors explain sexually transmitted diseases. In fact, they have an entire section on some of the most common STDs, their symptoms, and ways for them to be prevented. It explains too how the protections, such as condoms, are used and what they do exactly. This is very helpful for people like me who insist on knowing how it works.

This was overall a good book with a positive message and feeling throughout. I'd suggest it to all adolescents. More information about it might be added as I think of it.

This book would have been handy when I was a teenager

Back in the seventies, when I was a teen attending a girl’s school, sex education was not even part of the curriculum. I was completely clueless about sex beyond the basic mechanics of the act that I learned in grade five from a girlfriend reciting a crude poem. I remember greeting the latter with wide-eyed innocence as I failed to get the joke, so my girlfriend explained it to me—in detail.

As for relationships, well, forget about it. I had no siblings to talk about the subject, so when I finally stumbled into the dating world, it was messy, and I was lucky not to end up pregnant. I would have loved to have access to a book like this. It would have eliminated a lot of dating mistakes/disasters.

This book won’t educate teens on the mechanics of sex or how they can make it more pleasurable for themselves or their partner. It is more about understanding sexual orientation, the basics of dating and navigating relationships with or without sex being part of the equation. Using contraception as protection against STDs and unexpected pregnancies is also covered.

The book encourages teens to go at their own pace, have a voice in what happens to their bodies, protect themselves emotionally and exercise their right to say no. It also covers break-ups and refusing to tolerate poor behaviour.

This is the perfect guide to purchase for your teens for when they are ready to date.

As a parent, I am genuinely impressed by Kathy Wynn’s approach to teen sex education. This book is clear, compassionate, and incredibly responsible. It gives teens the facts they need without ever feeling overwhelming or inappropriate. Wynn explains real topics like consent, boundaries, communication, emotional readiness, body changes, and healthy relationships in a way that feels honest, and truly supportive.

What I appreciate most is the tone. It doesn’t lecture teens or scare them; it teaches them how to make safe, thoughtful decisions and respect both themselves and others. The examples and explanations are easy to understand, and the author does a wonderful job addressing the emotional side of growing up, not just the physical.

This is exactly the kind of book that helps open healthy conversations at home. I would absolutely recommend it to other parents who want their teens to learn accurate information in a positive, empowering way.

A truly excellent and much-needed guide for today’s teens.

Good Addition to Sex education from School

We all know that sex education in school can be awful. Most kids are embarrassed sitting next to classmates learning about things that is private. This book is a good addition to that. It focuses on everything relationships and consent to STDs and contraception.
Most of it is good for teenagers to learn. I do suggest having an open communication with someone you trust. Not all parents will be on board for these conversations, but maybe an aunt/uncle or older sibling/cousin could helpful too.
Overall, I think it’s a good read for additional information.

I wish I had this book as a teen!

Sex and everything surrounding it was a taboo topic growing up. Because of this I experienced a lot of heartache when I “explored” that could’ve been avoided. I wish I had a resource like this! Wynne shares imperative information in a friendly, informative, unbiased and not judgmental way. It opens the door for conversation and to talk about the topics that feel uncomfortable to ask! A must read for any parents with teens or any teens looking for research-based answers!

The book I wished I had

The author takes the subject of blossoming sexual interest and covers it in a friendly, easy to read manner. By presenting it in sub sections, the various questions are presented in a manner that does not overwhelm a developing mind. Each answer is easy to understand and teaches without embarrassing the reader. I would definitely recommend this for any middle school(or older) teanager so that they can find answers and not learn the hard way like me.

Useful resources

This book serves as a useful resource for teenagers, their parents, and anyone who interacts with teens. In today's culture, promiscuity is common even among teens. The author explores contemporary societal norms, outlines what is acceptable and what is not, and explains the underlying reasons. I particularly like the section about online dating. Even as an adult, I learned something new.

Good info

I have a tween, so I read this in preparation for having a teenager soon, to get an idea of what I will be getting into and the things he may go through and want to ask, or more importantly, be too afraid to ask. It was very informative. I will probably borrow this book again once my son is a teenager and offer it to him to read.

Must Read for Adulescents and Adults

Promiscuity in today's culture is prevalent at a very young age. Adolescents are adventuring into this new age and advertising it like a badge of honor.

Kathy Wynne’s book does an exemplary job of educating both the young and the old. Growing up in a different era meant a binary understanding of gender; you were either "he" or "she." Whether you agree with contemporary trends or not, it’s crucial for both teens and parents to gain insights from a neutral perspective.

This book is not confined merely to sex education; it delves into the current societal norms. It meticulously explains the do's and don'ts, and the reasoning behind both. The coverage is impressively thorough.

Wynne doesn't shy away from difficult subjects. The book provides invaluable guidance on handling sexual harassment, abuse, violence, and self-protection.

An especially notable feature is the Q&A section at the end. It covers sensitive topics with clarity and compassion, offering answers to many challenging questions.

In a world that's continuously evolving, this book stands as a must-read for both parents and adolescents—a comprehensive A-to-Z guide to navigating complex and often taboo topics surrounding sex, sexuality, and relationships.
