Were Chronicles #9

Pack Council

Rate this book
Alpha Council Representative Kurt Moore has his hands full with his investigation into the Church for Humanity... And that's before he meets the woman who throws his world into chaos.

Alpha Council Representative Kurt Moore is settling into the town of Lovington, California and his new position. He's busy gathering information on the five chapters of the Church for Humanity. Making plans to take down the Church and protect his fellow wolves, he dedicates all his time and energy to his work. He's content, happy, even if a little lonely. Then he meets Savannah Conley, the new deputy, and everything changes. Savannah is such a perfect match for him that Kurt starts to question himself and his needs.

Savannah Conley accepted the open position for the sheriff's department and was looking forward to putting down some roots. She's instantly attracted to the quiet shifter she's introduced to by her best friend and the more time she spends around Kurt, the more convinced she is that she and Kurt are meant to be. She might only be a human, but she knows deep down that the dark-haired shifter belongs to her. She doesn't have a lot of time to persuade the stubborn shifter to get him on board, though.

A wolf shifter who had gone undercover with the Church has disappeared and Kurt is on the hunt. Savannah does what she can through legal means but knows Kurt will do whatever he has to, to ensure the wolf's safety.

Enemies try to tear them apart, and Kurt and Savannah have to understand and show that they are stronger together.

I live in Texas with my husband, daughter, and three Labrador retrievers. By day you can find me at my 'day job' buried under a pile of paperwork but at night I am at my computer creating new worlds!

I have always loved the paranormal. Shape-shifters, witches, and vampires have been my number one choice of reading material so when I strated to write it was the genre I chose.

I currently have several books released through Totally Bound. I have one long running series the Were Chronicles and in March 2014 a spin-off series the Shifter Chronicles will be revealed.

I also have several stand alone novellas and novels.

I am working hard to bring more stories to the readers so they can sit back and relax while losing themselves in the paranormal romance world.

This is the ninth book in the Were Chronicles and is best read in series order. There are many re-occurring characters and story arcs that are best experienced when read in order.

Kurt Moore has recently moved after accepting a new position with the Pack council. When he looks around at his friends he sees many of them have mated leaving him feeling like he is missing seomthing. When he meets Savannah Conley he is instanly drawn to her and knows that he wants to get to know her better.

I really enjoyed reading about Kurt and Savannah. They are both warm and open people that have no issues with relationships or falling in love. It was a nice change from some of the angst filled books I have read. When they meet the sparks fly and once kurt realizes he can't let Savannah get away, they are extremly hot and heavy. My one complaint with the first love scene was that it felt scripted, a little too technical at first. They are pretty clear headed then, once naked, they start to really turn on the heat. After that it was sexy and hot.

There was advancement with the plot line that has been prevalent in the last few book. We are intorduced to several new characters while we also get cameos from previous characters. I was a little disappointed that there really isn't any action. Action happens but not around the main characters and we just see the planning or the reactions. I was hoping to get in the thick of things, so to speak.

With the new characters in this book as well as the feline shifters introduced a few books back, there is a lot that Smith can do with this series and I am looking forward to seeing what happens next.

Interracial Relations

I'm glad the shifters are finally sharing information as a community against their common enemy. I love the names of groups of animals (A group of bears are called sloths - priceless). This story definitely moved the plot along. The hero and heroine are a cute couple. Their best friends are mated to each other and set the couple up. I love the quips from their friends.
