In the sixth CatStronauts graphic novel, the elite team gets invited to test the first-ever space hotel! With a highly sophisticated Artificial Intelligence running the hotel and attending to the CatStronauts' every need, what could possibly go wrong?
Darby Fuzzelton, the world's richest cat, is determined to open the first-ever space hotel! Her first guests? The elite CatStronauts along with a few kittens who were top of their class at Space Camp. Their job? To prove that her space hotel is safe to the public.
When the cats and kittens arrive, they're greeted by AVA, an advanced Artificial Intelligence system programmed to handle countless hotel operations. Upon seeing Cat-Stro-Bot and his ability to go ANYWHERE, AVA becomes obsessed with gaining her own freedom. With AVA distracted, all the hotel systems go on the fritz! Will the CatStronauts escape this hotel of horror?
Oh, man, there was so much fun stuff in this one! But I think my favorite thing is that it includes a cat named Toonces and that at one point Pom Pom says, "Toonces, you seem to know more about this than I do. Want to drive?" HA! I doubt there are many in this graphic novel's intended audience of, I don't know, 8-10 year-olds? who will have any idea there's a joke there, but I super appreciated it, and this is exactly why Drew Brockington is my fave!
Another fun installment of the Castronauts series. In this latest middle grade graphic novel, the catsronauts are invited to stay aboard the luxury galactic hotel as it's first guests. It's more than just fun and games though - they have to make sure that it is safe for the public. Unbeknownst to them they won't be the only "guests" on board, some kittens will be tagging along to get the opinion of the younger generation. On board the galactic luxury hotel there is no staff, only AVA, the AI system that keeps the station running. What would happen if the AI system were to stop working or glitch though? Fun as always.
The CatStronauts are invited to help safety check Darby Fuzzelton's new independent space hotel where she plans to let cat civilians come and experience space. The CatStronauts are excited about a vacation, but then they show up and find out they'll be in charge of 5 kittens on the trip, AND the flight and space station are completely AI controlled (which some of them like, and some of them are bummed about). When they arrive at first things are fun but then the AI starts to act a little weird and then things get seriously bad. Can they save the day, or are the CatStronauts and kittens toast?
Ahh, a good ol' AI goes crazy story for a new generation of scifi readers. This is the best CatStronauts adventure in a while in my opinion. A classic scifi plot done in a very fun way. Darby Fuzzleton is clearly a cat & female spoof on Richard Branson. Major has a bit of trouble relaxing and takes the security checking super seriously, while most of the others want to chill. Readers in a little book discussion group could debate which one had the right perspective. The book also is a little tongue-in-cheek commentary on the civilian space programs in the development and how if money is the only consideration things could go horribly wrong. Hand this to graphic novel fans, cat lovers, and scifi fans.
Notes on content: No language issues or sexual content. Things get pretty close to perilous but no one is seriously hurt.

Darby Fuzzleton wants to open a space hotel but it needs to be approved. The CatStronauts are going to be the ones to do that. The CatStronauts and 4 kittens are the first to use the space hotel. They must determine if it's safe for the public. Ava, an AI is their guide. Ava runs everything at the hotel. When Ava meets Cat-Stro-Bot things go awry. Ava wants the freedom that Cat-Stro-Bot has. He's able to go anywhere being a robot with an actual form whereas but Ava as an AI is stuck on the hotel. Ava decides to use her computer skills to get into Cat-Stro-Bot leaving the hotel to fend for itself which doesn't go well. With Ava finding her freedom in Cat-Stro-Bots body the CatStronauts have to take over. The hotel is shutting down systems vital to life support. Can they get Ava to come back and do her job to save them or are they doomed? It's a digital disaster.
Pretty good adventure story about a crew of catstronauts who are invited by an Elon Musk-type character to test out a fully AI-run orbiting space hotel. The AI fails them and the catstronauts, along with some sidekick kittens, have to fix the hotel's systems all on their own.
More adventure than funny? Though who can tell what grade schoolers will think is funny. Not text-heavy, but some good vocabulary words used.
I read and finished this the other day. It was a cute volume and a nice addition/continuation of the series. I find the Catstronauts to be fun, and I loved the inclusion of the kittens this time. It was well paced with some funny cute moments and good plot. I would be quite likely to recommend this book/series to kids.
The addition of the kittens was really fun. I've also noticed a lot of diversity within the cats (one has a mom and dad, one has a grammie, one has an auntie). This was a cute story and was less message-y than the others. It's a little bit of a cliche story with AI but still enjoyable. I just wondered about the part where they went swimming because in every other book the cats hate getting wet.
I was like "whatever" until the space hotel shut down and then it was like a mashup of every space horror movie I've ever loved. One of the things I love the most about this series is how Brockington never condescends to his audience, even when his characters are "able to access an overview by setting up a guest log-in connected directly to the router." I love it.
Cats travel to a space station hotel run by an AI. If that sounds like the plot of a science fiction movie about to go wrong, you are correct in your thinking. But still astronaut cats, still enjoyable to read.
A cat billionaire has built the world's first space hotel and the CatStronauts are on a mission to test it out. Things do not go as planned. This book introduces a whole group of new characters: the Kittens. The kids continue to love these.
This awesome book tells about the future and all that could happen for space travel. So you better be careful when you say you want automated luxury lounges! But this book is amazing and I definitely recommend it to fans of the catstranauts
My son has read this series many times through on his own, but based on covers alone I figured they were pretty silly and not worth my time. However, I have to admit, when he asked me to read this one with him as a bedtime story, I was legitimately interested in the storyline.
Still such a cute series! This time, our heroic CatStronauts find themselves in quite the predicament with a rogue AI... in space. It's a riff off a horror film, but a very light-hearted take with our usual fun cat elements!
This book is the first one I read in this series. CatStronauts. I liked it so much I am going to read the first book. The illustrations are charming, the story has is fun, and I love the light-hearted attitude.
This was great. I actually felt for Ava before she went insane. The kittens were pretty cool. I love the nap-a-torium. And that for cat-stro-bot, vacation means putting on a hat (he did that in volume 5 as well!) Really enjoyed this series.
A funny graphic novel about cats in space. Great illustrations and a funny story filled with “cat puns” will appeal to all ages. We’ll have a hard time keeping on the library shelf!
Wow! What an amazing CatStronauts book. Though this one wasn't one of my favorite CatStronaut books. I thought this book was not as amazing as the other books but otherwise I liked it.
