Arkansas' life was simple. She lived in a small town, worked at a clothing store, and, for the most part, loved her job. She also had Ethan, her boyfriend, whom she loved. Her easy-going, small-town life is turned upside down when Jenna comes back into town. Discovering Jenna and her father will go to any length to get what they want from Ethan's family has Arkansas realizing the kind of people she and Ethan were dealing with.
Putting aside the happenings in Arkansas's day-to-day life, she has been having dreams that confuse her. The dreams were telling her a story about the past of others. Mistress Kala was being kept from her home by her husband, who wanted her dead to gain everything that belonged to her. Devising a plan with one of the employees at the house, Kala meets Rance and sweet-talks him into helping her. By the end of the story, Arkansas realizes her dreams were about her relatives.
