It was Hamlet and I love Hamlet. The character design was amazing. It played into the comedy aspect and had me laughing several times. I will say I rated it 3 stars because of how it dealt with Hamlet and Gertrude in the scene where they're alone and Hamlet kills Polonius. The way they chose to interpretate that scene made me very uncomfortable and I had to skip it. I wish I could rate it higher because as I said, I love Hamlet.

I haven't read Hamlet since junior year of high school. So, while I remember the plot and the BIG monologue scenes, I have to say that it was such a pleasure to read this in manga format.
This is the original text, so I still had to pull out the Sparknotes here and there to understand some parts, but how can someone read some of these lines and not be in awe of Shakespeare? I also realized that some lines that we even use in every day speech come from here: To thine own self be true, Methinks the lady doth protest too much, goodnight sweet prince. Mind blown!
The themes, the emotions, now as an adult rereading this, are so poignant and so human. Death, the impermanence of our existance, what comes after, revenge, madness, etc. The manga aspect brings an added dimension to it that I was never able to have when watching this in movie or play format (though it was so hilarious to me that Hamlet was a very handsome bishounen). My only gripe with this is honestly just a general complaint that I had with the original Hamlet - It dragsssss on sometimes- which I also understand is a choice to emphasize Hamlet's indecision. But still.
4 very high stars!

No había leído nunca este clásico, pero al tratarse de una obra teatral, pensé que qué mejor que leerlo en manga y así fuese una experiencia más visual.
Estoy acostumbrada a leer manga, así que no me fue compleja su lectura en modo oriental. Obviamente el lenguaje sí es algo complicado, pero nada que impida su disfrute.
El dibujo es maravilloso, lleno de detalles y muy cuidado, como nos explica el autor de la adaptación en las últimas páginas. Una ambientación muy ilustrativa y una caracterización muy buena.
No va a ser de mis clásicos favoritos, pero aun así he de decir que he disfrutado mucho de esta lectura.

Bueno pues este manga de Hamlet a pesar de que es mas ligero de leer (para mi) por el hecho de que esta en versión manga y no en el original que se me complica leer clásicos. Siento que igual la forma en la que decían los diálogos los personajes esta muy similar al libro. Obviamente esto es algo bueno porque se apega a la versión original y lo divertido de esto es que cuando lo leo se me queda en la mente la forma poética de hablar y es muy chistoso.
Por otro lado me causaba algo de confusión y por eso me hacía bolas. Pero en general esta muy interesante y bonito.
Lo sigo recomendando.

Una adaptación espectacular... sin duda el manga permite juegos entre imágenes que subrayan las vivencias y encuentros de Hamlet con el espectro del alma de su padre. Esta serie de clásicos no me defrauda en ninguno de los libros que he releído. 💯

Los dibujos están fenomenal. Está entretenido y se lee enseguida. Merece la pena leer esta versión si te gusta el manga.

Read it for class. Art was pretty, but Hamlet’s never been my favorite Shakespeare play. Why don’t professors ever want to read the comedies?

Picked this up at my local library for shits and giggles. I actually was pleasantly surprised at how fun it was to read compared to the slog it had been in English class. Hamlet is presented as overdramatic as ever, and the story follows the plot beat by beat of the play it's adapting.
