Big things are happening in small-town Wilfred, Oregon! The retreat center is open for its first workshop, the local café is done remodeling, and librarian and witch-in-training Josie Way is hosting her sister--and a few suspicions about the new killer on the loose . . . Josie is eager to show off Wilfred's delights to her visiting sister, Jean--even though Josie must conceal her magic from her. In any case, Jean is excited to attend Cookie Masterson's trademark "Ready-Set-Go!" workshop on becoming a life coach. Then there's the grand reopening of Darla's Café, where the doors are thrown open to reveal . . . a dead man, stabbed in the back. That was definitely not on the revamped menu...
Even more worrisome, the sheriff receives a report of a fresh corpse at the retreat center. Maybe murder isn't so uncommon in Wilfred anymore, but two unfamiliar bodies within an hour certainly is! Josie's willing to let law enforcement take the lead--after all, she's gotten into some trouble from the hints the library's spellbound books keep feeding her about the patrons. But when her sister receives the killer's chilling calling card, she'll use everything within her otherworldly powers to divine just who in town has homicide as his new slogan . . .

Set in the small town of Wilfred, Oregon. Josie Way is the town librarian and she is also a trainee witch.
Josie's powers are wonderfully linked to her job - she can move books around with her thoughts and she can talk to the books and they talk to her. Even better although unrelated to books, she can move her mind into Rodney, her friendly black cat. I also loved the way specific books would 'volunteer' themselves when they saw that someone needed them.
Of course the book is also a cosy mystery and Josie along with her sister, Jean, is involved in quite a complicated investigation. The author kept the action going at a good pace and did not spend too much time on the characters debating who the murderer might be. There was humour too especially in the magic. The books occasionally got Josie into trouble by turning up at unsuitable times.
I enjoyed it very much and immediately acquired the first book in the series to read next.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
This is the 4th book in the Witch Way Librarian Cozy Mystery series, but it was the first I had read. Overall I really liked it and will definitely have to check out the previous books. I didn’t have any trouble following the story despite not having read the others so I do believe like most cozy mysteries it can be read as a standalone. I really liked the unique take on magic in this one. Josie has a talent with books int hat they talk to her and give her information if it relates to what they have when she needs it. As I am a book lover it seems like the perfect magic talent that I had never even thought of. Josie’s sister Jean is visiting and taking part in an expensive life coach training retreat with Cookie. Jean is trying to get her family, Josie included, to see her as an adult making her own choices, but when it appears that some murders are connected to the retreat Josie can’t help but worry. This was a good mystery with some decent twists.
This is the fourth book in the Witch Way Librarian Mysteries, but it it my first experience with the series. I was pleased that I could jump right into this even though I hadn't read the other books, and I had no trouble following the story and didn't get that feeling that I had missed to much that I had to start at the beginning.

My Thoughts: First let me say that I enjoyed this cozy mystery and may go back an pick up the other books in the series. I found Josie's magic ability with books to be interesting and unique. I wasn't sure whether the wellness coach was a scam artist or not and was anxious to see what was going on with her. There were some surprise twists in the book, and it kept my attention throughout. I recommend this for anyone who enjoys a good cozy mystery.
Thanks to Kensington Books through Netgalley for an advance copy. This book will be published on May 23, 2023.
This is Fantasy Cozy Mystery, and this is the fourth book in the Witch Way Librarian Mysteries series. I have read some of the other books in this series before picking up this book, but I do think you can read this book as a standalone. I really loved being back with these characters. I loved the mystery that was going on in this book. I think the books, witch parts, and the mystery parts were done so while. The ending I really did not like because it leaves you hanging (not about the mystery - mystery parts are wrapped up very nicely). I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Kensington Cozies) or author (Angela M. Sanders) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
I haven't read a cozy mystery in awhile and this one came out in May. I thought this was a really fun read. It's the fourth book in the Witch Way Librarian series, but can most definitely be read as a standalone. I made sure of that before I requested it. I just enjoyed this one alot and I will definitely be reading more in the series now, starting with the first. I love Josie's magic with her mind, being able to move and interact with the books and she can go into the mind of her cat. I laughed quite a few times and the murder mystery was unpredictable and never slow. So glad I had the chance to read this one.
Taking place in small town Wilfred Oregon, Josie is a witch in training and the town librarian. The new retreat center and cafe is now open and Josie is hosting her sister Jean and others for the "Ready, Set, Go" workshop for becoming a life coach. When it starts though, a man is found dead. Turns out he's not the only dead body in Wilfred. So her sister also ends up with the killer's calling card, and she now is willing to involve herself and her powers to find out who the murderer is!
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own.
I am so happy with this series; I love books (of course!) and used to be a librarian, so this series really speaks to me. This latest has poor Josie trying to both keep her sister safe from a killer on the loose and keep secrets from her. I love how close they got, and I’m hoping we see more of Jean in the future. This latest installment has an interesting plot and I was engaged throughout the whole book, but I thought that the culprit was a little too convoluted. Besides that, this is a great addition to the series, and with that ending, I’m a little anxious to see how this will change the course of some things…I can’t say too much about it as I don’t give out spoilers. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
I enjoyed this book. I thought the scene when the killer is trying to kill the two main characters is a little contrived, especially the bit when Jean’s eyes telling her to trust her. I was not expecting the twist with the killer. I think the story has a lot of twists and it keeps it moving.I loved the ending. #WitchuponaStar #NetGalley
I loved Witch Upon a Star so much I’ve got my hands on the first 2 books in the series and have the 3rd on library request! I chose this book solely on the cover and the blurb and was not let down in any way. Even though it was the 4th in the series I found there was sufficient information to understand the connections and how the past effected this story.
Josie has only just discovered she is a witch and is still learning the ropes. She has a job as a librarian and can communicate with the books - they give her advice whether she wants it or not. Her youngest sister turns up on her doorstep as she is attending a wellness coaching workshop at the newly Wellness centre. The family is concerned as Jean has history of jumping from one job to another, usually on a whim, and always ending up in trouble. Josie’s mother has asked Josie to try and talk Jean out of this latest career move, whilst not revealing that she has magical powers.
Josie has her doubts about Workshop coach and two murders before the sessions start convinces her that things are not as they seem. Jean may be in danger but convincing her is difficult as she thinks her family is picking on her and are not taking her seriously. Josie is inclined to let Jean get on with it - but then Jean gets a threatening note so Josie decides to use her powers to help Sheriff Sam Wilfred work out who the murderer is.
They mystery is well written and had a few twists and turns. I did not work out who it was and why until all was revealed. I loved Josie, the books and the quirky characters. They all came alive on the pages as I read.
As I mentioned I have gone back and started reading the previous books in the series - which are just as good. Looking forwards to reading more!
With thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Books for my copy to review
Josie is one of those characters that readers either love or hate. This time around, they will definitely love her! After all, what’s not to love about a murder mystery that involves spellbound books at the library, a sister who comes to visit and attend a life coach workshop, and not one but two murders within a few hours?
The assembled cast of characters brings together fans who love the regular players right alongside new and exciting characters that keep them guessing. The library’s books are spellbound and give Josie hints about the nature of the murders; they also do their best to protect her from harm. The workshop aspect is not new to the cozy genre, but in this case, it gives readers a way to look inside the suspects' minds without giving away the ending. The murderer is elusive, while the evidence can be challenging to figure out. But in the end, Josie finds the killer and manages not to get herself killed in the process.
I got a kick out of Josie’s sister. I understand her need to find her way in the world or within her family while another sibling gets all the attention. The life coaching workshop seems to be custom-made for Jean, who doesn’t know about Josie’s magic and the spellbound books that help her solve crimes. The story unfolds in a way that will make readers happy. The plot is easy to understand without too much detail that would bog down the pace. The author knows what she is doing, and Witch Upon a Star proves that she has a bit of magic of her own.
Delightful cozy series and this fourth book is another strong addition. Josie Way, a librarian and novice witch, eagerly anticipates a visit from her sister, Jean, who will be attending a workshop on wellness coaching in the newly opened retreat center in Wilfred, Oregon. Only thing, their mother asked Josie to keep her newfound witchiness a secret from Jean while convincing her to drop out of the workshop. Whether it is an expensive scam or the real deal has yet to be determined. Once two murders take place before the sessions begin, Jean's own safety comes into question. What I especially love in this series is how Josie's magic draws it strength from books whether it's knowing what book someone needs to read or getting help herself. The mystery is sufficiently twisty and the pages will just fly by. Thanks to netgalley and the Kensington books for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Witch Upon a Star is another great addition to this series. Josie Way is still learning about the powers of her craft, and a visit from her sister has her a bit tense. A new self help promoter is visiting the small town, and Josie's sister Jean is participating. Josie prepares to hide her talents from her sister, while Jean struggles to be taken seriously. This is my favorite so far, and I can't wait to see what happens next, especially with Sam and Josie. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of this book. #WitchuponaStar #NetGalley
This was book four in the Witch Way Librarian series, and this was another great addition. Josie, her cat Rodney, and her witchy book abilities are back to solve more murders. In Witch Upon a Star Josie's sister, Jean comes to Wilfred to take part in a workshop retreat and stays with Josie at the library. How will Josie keep her sister safe when the murders begin? I just love all the magic in this series, and all of the characters are fun and likable. Wilfred is a charming little town filled with interesting personalities. This was a super cute, cozy mystery. I can't wait for the next book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.
Ughhh I wanted to knock of a full star for the ending but 😒😒 Jean and Josie’s relationship in this book was so good to watch bits a classic sibling relationship, each having insecurities to work through, trying to protect each other, one to get out from under the shadow of the older sibling, secrets, parental interference. Trust, loyalty and more. Jean is in town to attend a certification retreat to be a wellness coach, in the process the husband of the creator of the group and a follower are both murdered. Jean seems to be getting threats, Josie wants to stay out of it so Jean does discover she’s a witch, but things don’t always workout the way she wants and the sisters investigate over Sam’s objections.
I adore this series and her newest book is just as fabulous. We get to meet Josie’s sister Jean who is fighting to break out of her family’s view of her as the one always needing help and who can’t quite be trusted to make good decisions. Well she convinced me because she was a smart and strong character and helped Josie in this investigation.
I so enjoy following Josie's magic lessons and watching both her and her magic mature. The fact that she has settled into this community is really highlighted as we see it through her visiting sister's eyes. Josie’s ability to communicate with the books and make them move and dance comes in huge and so entertaining in this book. The way it was integrated into the investigation in such the perfect way, so key but not too over the top / making it too easy for Josie. And the ending was fabulously brilliant! The last chapter got me SO EXCITED for more!!
This is such a fun series and I enjoyed the addition of Josie’s sister, Jean, in this one. The characters are well developed and so quirky, the mystery moved at a good pace and the mystery had me guessing until the very end. There are the usual cozy mystery issues that you have to overlook or they don’t make sense – why would a big company hold a workshop in such a small town – but otherwise, this was a great addition to a series and I can’t wait to see what happens next. Bonus points for the new name for the café in town.
I received a copy from #NetGalley for an honest review.
Josie is excited to see her little sister Jean who is visiting Wilfred for a wellness workshop at the retreat center. Their mother fears Jean is too naive and has sunk all her money into a scam and wants Josie to keep an eye on Jean and keep Jean out of trouble. Easier said than done when the books don't reveal anything on this life coach, Cookie Masterston, running the workshop and easier said than done when two dead bodies turn up in Wilfred on the same day! Wilfredians are eager for Darla to reopen the cafe and everyone turns out for the grand reopening but when Darla opens the doors, there's the dead body of a man with a knife in his chest sitting at the counter. When Josie calls Sam for help, he reveals there's also someone dead at the retreat center! The dead woman, Marcia, was assumed to have died of natural causes because she seemed ill but in light of the second body and a scene Josie and Jean witnessed on Jean's first night in town, Sam must investigate both deaths as suspicious. Then someone threatens Jean and Josie's need to protect her sister has her jumping in to investigate even if it means risking her potential relationship with Sam.
Mrs. Wey is even more anxious and overbearing than my own mother. Of course her witch power gives her premonitions but Josie is fine so she has to trust that everything will work out. With regards to Jean, she's WAY overprotective. She persists in thinking of Jean as an innocent child constantly getting into trouble. She doesn't realize Jean's big heart is an asset and not a liability. If I were Josie I would have told my mother to back off. Jean is an adult and can handle the news about the family trait and trust her to have done her research on this life coaching program "Ready, Set, Go!" Yeesh. Jean is a little wiser than Josie when Josie is about to do something TSTL.
Jean is sweet but a bit naive. She has a big heart. She doesn't know about the family trait but she sure has it. Jean is eager to become a life coach and confident in her ability to teach yoga, at first but when the murder happens, the shock of the incident and not knowing who to trust shakes her too much and she loses some of her confidence. All three sisters have healing powers. Toni helps people as a doctor, Josie helps people with her books and Jean wants to be a life coach. She's very astute and sees people. She knows instantly how to help them. She picks up on Josie's changed personality right away. Josie is more alive and her home more vibrant than she was even as a kid. All she needed was books. Jean will make a great life coach! Jean takes the news of Josie's witch powers in stride, of course, and even realized she knew something was up even when she was a kid.
I LOVE Josie's book powers! The book ballet is so cool! She shouldn't listen to her grandma and mind her own business. A librarian's job is to find out what people REALLY need and usually a librarian has to ask a lot of questions to get there but Josie just knows. Sure one or two people might be unhappy but everyone else is surprised but delighted. No the murder isn't her business and that's probably what Grandma's lesson meant. Sam is capable and confident. He 's doing everything he can to solve the murders and seems to be following protocol. He's just clueless about relationships. Jean pretty much echoes what Roz said. Sam's wife just died, he has a baby taking up all his waking thoughts when he's home and isn't thinking about romance yet. SO Josie should make the first move. If I were her, I would have kissed him, at least on the cheek, for bringing the socks even though he was angry.
Marcia, the dead woman at the retreat center, was obviously being poisoned. She appeared unwell at the workshop but seemed fine the night before. She was spotted arguing with a strange man she claimed not to know. Marcia was a devotee of Cookie's workshops and this was her 5th one. Could someone have followed her and put something in her morning coffee that killed her? Who was the man and why was he threatening her? Marcia was making great strides in building her client base. Maybe one turned against her? Marcia is a Cookie wannabe. Could that have contributed to her death? Marcia's room was torn up as if someone was looking for something. What were they looking for? The other victim, Anders McGee, was a real surprise. I think he sounds like he was smarmy and opportunistic- a real slimeball. He didn't deserve to be murdered but he was not a likable character. Of course anything we learn about him if after he's dead so it could be biased. Cookie has a strong motive to murder him and Marcia but she has an alibi. Whoever killed him, it wasn't a spur of the moment thing. How did they even get into the closed cafe?
Rex Markham seems sleezy to me. He's too good looking and knows it. Josie thinks his demeanor is that of a used car salesman. Rex is WAY too into Cookie and comes on strong. He has two dead wives and freely admits to being a strong motive for murdering Anders anyway. I would be willing to bet he would kill for Cookie. Desmond is Cookie's assistant. She treats him horribly. He's a little frightening and it's hinted he has a past. Duke has become BFFS with Desmond and they bond over handyman knowledge. Josie is worried Duke is too trusting. Can Desmond be trusted? I think while Desmond is a little scary, Duke is a grown man who can make his own judgments about his friends and it's not up to Josie.
Sylvia, Jean's retreat buddy not what she seems she doesn't know the most basic yoga poses although she says she does wellness with a focus on yoga. She's NOT friendly as much as Jean thinks she is. I get the impression she's one of the wannabes who wants to copy Cookie's system without any background in life coaching. There's another possibility about why she's really there, if she's not actually there for the workshop. Bernie Stanich, a dog groomer, seems to want to change careers. She isn't sure what her specialty is. She has it out for another guest at the workshop and is a strong contender for murderer. Bernie has a lot of anger in her heart. There's an understandable reason but there's also misunderstandings and that may have led to murder. She's a dog person! She can't be a murderer!
At first Cookie seems like a creepy self-help guru influencer. Her followers are called "Crumbs" which is weird and makes her sound like a cult leader. The books think she's a narcissist but she seems so nice when Josie questions her. She has an airtight alibi for the murders so she can't be the murderer. She's trademarked this Ready-Set-Go method which seems kind of basic to me. Jean seems to be figuring it out on her own. I would be suspicious of someone who claims to be not ready to settle down teaching me how to find my soulmate. Cookie is pretty horrible to her assistant, Desmond. She makes him her servant.
I love the Wilfredians. Darla is now married and seems very happy. Gone With the Wind role play sounds super creepy to me but whatever makes her happy. Mrs. Garlington is my favorite. Her epic poems are too funny and while her organ practice would drive me crazy, it's funny too. I also enjoy Patty of the This n' That. I think Lalena really does have some power. She knows the library feels different and she's good at figuring out how to tell people what they need to hear. Darla has reopened her cafe and is holding a contest to name it. The knitting club wants to rebrand Wilfred as a murder town. At first I thought it was creepy but if it brings people into town and brings the town back, I guess it might be a good idea. They're funny but obnoxious and I would feel like yelling at them and kicking them out of the library at a crucial moment towards the end. Josie does it more politely than I would have done. Montgomery, Darla's new husband, obviously adores her and seems at home in Wilfred. He seems nice, a little odd, but nice. Duke has a new handyman BFF. He seems suspicious to me. I figured out who he was after Cookie gave Josie a clue.
I enjoyed this entry in this series and now I want to read the next to see what happens with the romance subplot and any follow-up on how Jean is doing.
Josie Way has settled into her life as a librarian in Wilfred, Oregon and is getting used to the fact that she is a witch when her younger sister Jean comes to visit. Jean, who has long felt like she is in the shadow of her two older sisters, is looking forward to attending Cookie Masterson’s “Ready-Set-Go!” workshop which will help her become a life coach. Josie has her doubts – doubts which are quickly justified when dead bodies start piling up and Jean finds threatening notes directed at her. Josie will do anything she can – including using her powers - to protect Jean and find the killer before Jean becomes the next victim.
“Witch Upon a Star” is the nicely done fourth book in Angela M. Sanders Witch Way Librarian cozy mystery series. This was the first book that I have read in the series but by the second chapter I had gone and ordered the first three books – that’s how much I loved this book! I love the premise of this book – Josie’s witch powers allow her to communicate with books – this is such a unique premise and very well done by Sanders. I love the small town setting, Josie’s relationship with Sam, and her relationship with Jean – and the paranormal aspects. The mystery itself is extremely well done with plenty of twists and turns and a surprise solution to the murders. All in all I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading not only the first three books but future books in the series.
“Witch Upon a Star” is a nicely done cozy mystery.
Things are changing for the better in Wilfred, Oregon. The Café is about to reopen after a refit, and the new retreat centre is about to hold its first residential workshop. One of those attending the wellness course is Jean, the younger sister of local librarian Josie Way, who is excited to have her spend vacation time in the small town but a little apprehensive too. Having recently discovered she is a witch who gains her powers through the printed word, Josie knows she has to keep it a secret from everyone around her.
When a stranger to the town is found dead, Josie is determined to let local sheriff, Sam Wilfred, investigate without her assistance for once. When Jean receives a terrifying message however, everything changes, as using her new powers becomes a necessity. With snow falling and local residents having to watch their backs, will Josie discover that sometimes magic isn't enough to save those you love?
Although this is the fourth in the Witch Way Librarian series, it's the first I've read and it all fell into place easily. Josie is a fun main protagonist, and the town of Wilfred has its fair share of quirky residents. The clever and original storyline is really well written and held my attention throughout. I have definitely found a new favourite author and cosy series.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the opinions expressed are my own. I loved this and happily recommend it, even if, like me, you haven't read the previous three.
In her 4th book in the Witch Way Librarian Mystery series, Angela M. Sanders continues to delight readers with her storytelling skill. Josie is happily ensconced in Wilfred, and particularly in her library, with a town full of quirky friends and even the possibility of love, however remote. She is excited to have her younger sister, Jean (short for Eugenie), visit; though there are lots of questions about the credibility of the life coaching seminar Jean is attending at the new retreat center. Josie is also a bit nervous about keeping her witchy powers under wraps during Jean's week long stay. All that pales when not one but two murders occur, both seemingly related to the life coach crew and attendees.
This one checks off so many cozy boxes, including the small town, local library, friendly gathering place, all manner of quirky characters, amateur sleuth/strong protagonist, the hunky lawman, and of course Rodney, the witchy black cat. These characters are fun and likeable.
Sanders creates a truly enchanting world in this series and oh so appropriately involving books. When Josie communes with the written word, in the diverse multitude of books in her library and elsewhere, I am transported. I can almost feel the magic ebbing and flowing between them. As an avid fan of cozy paranormal mysteries, I can honestly say it is beguiling in a way no other witchy powers have captivated me.
I strongly recommend this book, but encourage you to read all 4 books in order.
Another winner in the Witch Way Librarian Series. While this is the fourth book, could easily be read as a standalone but you'll be searching out the backlist of this enjoyable series.
Josie's "baby" sister Jean is attending a life coach seminar at a nearby retreat and visiting Josie as she does so. Josie's mom thinks its a con and Josie has her reservations about it as well especially when she finds out the cost. But Jean feels this is what her calling is and believes it could be her jumpstart to a better future. Josie's Mom asks her not to tell Jean about her magic as she feels that Jean is already struggling with self esteem when comparing herself to her two sisters.
Jean's visit starts off with a bang-at the reopening of the local cafe, a murdered body is discovered. And later, a suspicious death occurs at the retreat. Then Jean gets threatening notes as well and Josie feels the need to get involved although she is keeping the local sheriff mostly apprised of what is happening.
A well plotted mystery that keeps you reeled in, And I love the people who inhabit this world and how Josie's magic manifests.
Wading through this disjointed mess of a story was honestly a struggle. Even set in world that has magical elements in it, this entire plot had completely unbelievable scenarios.
It’s a shame this series has been gradually getting less enjoyable. I don’t think I’m going to be continuing going forward.
This one was better than the last but not as good as the first. It has so many great qualities and I loved how the first two had multiple stories going at once, but this one is more pining for Sam and a very confusing murder conclusion. I gave it a 3.5.
The mystery in the beginning is fine. But the romance subplot is so freaking ridiculous that I keep getting side tracked by pure irritation. The author gives us many details about Sam—he loves opera, his weird smiling-but-inside-I’m-actually-frowning thing, he likes to cook—but the character still just comes off as flat. He gives no clear indication that he actually likes Josie which makes all her pining over him incredibly embarrassing. The whole ex-wife/baby things is just weird too. Why is Josie acting like a surrogate mother to his child when they’re not even halfway dating? Not to mention the whole town knows she has a crush on him??? Just painfully awkward. The part where she almost swoons over seeing him in a T-shirt and pajama pants nearly made me give up in the final few chapters.
Oh and the ending is godawful. Ridiculous. Unrealistic. Just embarrassingly bad. I regret sticking with this series for so long.
It was fun to meet Josie's younger sister, Jean but not so fun for Jean when the workshop she was attending became a scene for murder. For some parts, Sam let the sisters work with him in figuring things out, but there were only limited things he could disclose, so of course two sleuths are better than just Josie winging it on her own, right? Would Josie be able to tell Jean about her witchy powers? Or was Jean tuned in pretty well? You'll have to read and see!
The showdown after the quiet was a good one and with Jean (along with Josie's trusty books) helping, the perp was caught. Josie finally got the nerve to say something to Sam she'd been wanting to say for a while now...but did he feel the same? Another thing you'll find out if you read this book. It's just out today!
I voluntarily read and reviewed and ARC of this book provided by Kensington Cozies, and my opinions are my own.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the Advanced Readers Copy (ARC) of Witch Upon A Star by Angela M. Sanders. I was estatic to receive a copy for free in exchange for my honest review. I am now a huge fan of the author.
Witch Upon A Star is the first book I've read by this author, and I was pleasantly surprised that the story is so engaging and well written. I was so entertained by it that I found it to play out like a movie in mind, and I am looking forward to reading the first three books in the series. Furthermore, I can't wait until the next installment comes out. I liked all the red herrings in the book, and I couldn't figure out who was the killer. This is always a huge plus to me. I do wish the author would have recapped the background of the sheriff, Sam, a little earlier in the book, but other than that, I don't really have any complaints about the book.
It is winter in Wilfred, Oregon and librarian Josie Way's sister Jean is visiting and attending a workshop. The expensive life coach event is with the highly successful Cookie Masterson. Unfortunately, two bodies are found, one at the opening workshop and one at the reopening of Darla's cafe. Josie and Jean work through some family problems while investigating, and her magic helps her, but Josie's relationship with Sheriff Wilfred is still moving at a snail's pace. There are plenty of suspects and the charm of Wilfred is there, but this is not the best of the series.
In this book, Josie, the main character, welcomes her sister, Jean to Wilfred, Oregon. Jean is in town to attend workshop. On the first day there are two murders both connected to the workshop. Then Jean is threatened and Josie feels she must find out what is going on. The book was an easy read.
