I always want more...Moe what happened to...???

Her books ate a quick read. Complex problems...their appearance, their complexity, their possible solutions, their investigation, their execution, and the final solution. Pity so many unheralded individuals always die. Because we do not know, unless they are the BAD guys, who they are we do not care about them. This seems to be the reality of war on crime, war between folks, war between gangs of individuals, or war among nations. So very sad. I would hate for my family or me to be among the unheralded and unknown and invaded about.
This tale was well written as usual for Ms. Lionarons. She is unsentimental in most of her writing, with scenes just now and then that stir an emotional response. Though that sounds unsatisfying to some it really is not. One focuses on the complexity of the problems and feels a connection to the players and what they must do to solve the mystery. I am never unengaged with what they are doing. I become part of the syory! That is what good literature does...it makes you (me) feel a part of what is going on...as a reader, I laugh along, cry when prompted or the loss of life is present. It is never gratuitous or violent for violence sake...just part of what, swordsmen, guards, night watch men, and criminals dealt with in their daily lives through this very day. Unpleasant, sad, rueful, and tragic. This writer gives one an opportunity to feel what it might be like to be in one job or the other or all of them. From sheriff to master thief, from swordsman (master or not), to homeless child on the street, from prostitutes arrested and put in the stocks to priests attempting to do their job each day. It is a real roller coaster ride for those of us who read these intriguing stories.
I highly recommend this series and Ms Lionarons other books.

Interesting story -well written

I have been fond of Lionaron's books in the past, but this was my first read in this series. It is good, and I now look forward to reading the other books about these characters.

Another cracking good read

The characters are engaging and are woven into a plot which pull the reader along to the books conclusion. Each book in the series has left me anxiously awaiting the next.
