I have been reading Jane Blythe’s work for a long time now and her writing style fits me well. Protecting Hawk is Book V in her Special Forces: Operation Alpha – Prey Security series. I am familiar with many of the characters from previous books and am eager to see what she puts them through in Protecting Hawk.

The guys are hunks and the women are damsels in distress, sorta. But, be careful. You push them into a corner and they can bite.

A one night stand and they are unable to forget? I can sure see why she can’t. LOL I guess if you are a guy back from a military mission, one who only does one night stands because he does not want a relationship, maybe…if he met the right one…she could be unforgettable. Is there such a thing as love at first sight?

Madeline Montgomery works as a victimologist, studying the relationship between victims and their attackers, working with police across the country.

She is on the run, because her work brought her to the attention of a serial killer, but it goes so much deeper than that. I am not going to tell you why, but it does tie into an issue that Prey Security has been dealing with.

She walks in. Eight months pregnant. Seeking help. Her life and her unborn baby’s life is on the line. She knows they are the best, so here she is.

The premise is a familiar one with romantic suspense. It’s hard to get around the push/pull, (mis or no) communication and keep the story going. After all, that is usually how it leaves her open to danger. And, real life, look how well we all communicate. LOL

After meeting Madeline, Hawk has started to reconsider his military career. Maybe it’s time to retire and accept a job at Prey Security. His family had been after him to join the firm and now he has a reason to consider it…if he goes after her. With all the skills his family possesses it would not be difficult to find her, he just has to make up his mind to do it. Before he has the chance…

It’s hard for me to imagine a scenario I don’t see coming, but Jane Blythe does manage to surprise me, when Ellen walked into the room….

Thank you, Jane, for the hours of unputdownable entertainment. Keep it coming.

I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of Protecting Hawk by Jane Blythe.

Stupid plot, he’s horrid and he’s terrified of relationships.

At the beginning of the book, Hawk and Maddy have a fantastic one night stand. She wanted more, but he’s scared of relationships. Fast forward eight months later and a heavily pregnant Maddy goes to Prey for help. As she believes that a serial killer is after her. She travels across the country to Prey as she’s heard that they are the best, and coincidentally Hawke is there on leave from the army. Yes I am being sarcastic, as there’s way too many coincidences for me in this book.

Everything is great and they’re falling in love, when wimpy Hawke decides that Maddy is working for their enemy. He threatens to take their child, and that was it for me. I carried on reading but I hated his character after that. She’s still in danger but goes to a hotel, he realises what an idiot he’s been, too late. The plot just deteriorated after that.

I don’t understand the women in these books. The men walk all over them and it’s okay, as they’re in love. Actually it’s NEVER OKAY FOR A MAN TO THREATEN A WOMAN!! NEVER!!!!

Who knew that after that one night stand would create such a lasting impression on both Maddy and Hawk? And create a beautiful little bundle of joy. Hawk knew he couldn’t wait to find Maddy again. But did not expect to see her in the lobby of his families business. And definitely did not expect to see her with child…begging for help to safe her life and the babies. I loved this story. I loved the twists an turns. I loved how Maddy and Hawks relationship is tried and yet they find a way to over come everything that’s thrown at them.

This was a nonstop thrill ride from start to finish.

A one night stand turns into so much more in this action packed adventure. Let me tell you I really wanted to smack Hawk upside the head so many times.

“This thing between us is real, right?” she whispered. “As real as it gets. Nothing to do with the rugrat,”

We finally have answers to the burning questions from previous books and oh boy what a shocking surprise.

Not sure where this series is going from here but I know I’ll be there to find out.

Madeline, or Maddy, Montgomery and Hawk Oswald met at a bar and hit it off immediately, but Hawk only did one night arrangements. Well, that’s what he intended anyway. They both felt a deeper connection that night but it wasn’t the right time for them. For Hawk, being an army ranger was his life plan until now when he started to question things. Honestly, it would be a hard decision to make, and quite scary too, to retire from the military and then what? I liked how Hawk didn’t rush into a decision but gave it thought, as well as deciding to try working at his family’s security company.

Poor Maddy had it much tougher, as a victimologist she found herself in the middle of a hugely dangerous situation where she was possibly going to be the next victim. Being in an advanced stage of pregnancy she drove across the country to seek help from Prey Security. Small world as who should she see again but Hawk! Then things started to really heat up—both with the case and their personal life.

Hawk was the epitome of a protective alpha male but most of the time he was more easygoing than either of his other two brothers. He was just as loyal to his family, as his other siblings were, and enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephew. What he queried was the concept of a sustainable marriage after seeing so many broken relationships with his military friends.

After all this time, and through four previous books, the mystery of who was trying to kill the Oswald family became clearer and more deadly. As the action and drama heated and rose, so did my heartbeat. Talk about sit on the edge of your seat tension, I experienced a huge range of emotions in one scene alone. Fantastic writing by the author.

This romance was a tiny bit different but I will let you read it to see why, I don’t want to spoil anything but I will say I liked how more realistic it felt. Another terrific story by this very talented author.

Hawk and Maddie.

Serendipity plays a serious factor in PROTECTING HAWK, this surprise baby story from Author Jane Blythe. It’s book 5 in the Prey Security series that features the Oswald siblings as they navigate their current and previous military careers, their security company and an enemy that has haunted their family for longer than they ever knew. I have loved every book in this fast-paced military series, and in each book, no exception, I have stayed up waaaaaaaay too late needing to finish a book more than I think my body needs sleep!!

While each book could hold itself as a stand-a-lone, I highly recommend that the first four are read first. It’s seriously no hardship, but each book builds on the horrendously traumatic events that have affected this honourable family. Why were their parents murdered in the fashion that they were and who is still coming after them??

In this book it is Hawk Oswald’s turn to unexpectedly make and lose a huge intimate connection with a woman he couldn’t forget, but lost because he made that realisation too late. He has the tools at his disposal to find her but doesn’t.......

Victimologist, Madeline Montgomery is pregnant and on the run from a serial killer. She knows that Prey Security are the top in their field and makes her way there, accidentally finding her baby daddy, with the name she’d assumed was fake.

Ms Blythe put together some pretty hot chemistry between them, and they managed to damage it with mis-trust and careless words. A lot happened in PROTECTING HAWK and I found the level of betrayal heart-breaking. This book had it all. Chemistry and romance, action and treachery. I loved it, and, I’m looking forward to the next one!!!! 4.5 Stars ♠️💞✶

My heart is aching after reading this beautiful, poignant story. Hawk and Maddy made my heart melt. The emotions portrayed throughout this story have so much depth, so much passion it blows right through you, leaving behind a deep-seated need for more.
Hawk is such a heart melting character. He’s total alpha male, like the rest of his family. By he’s also so much more. He’s devoted to this family and people he cares for. He’s a genuinely good man. This story lands you in the thick of things with Hawks’s first encounter with Maddy. He’s a man with a good heart and a smokin hot body. My heart aches for him when he realised Maddy could be the one woman to make him want more. Knowing in his heart she was different but not knowing what to do about it.
Maddy. Such a selfless and beautiful soul. She wears her heart on her sleeve. Craving a sense of belonging she hasn’t experienced since childhood. She is so open and accepting. She makes me wish we were friends. I just wanted to hug her.
Watching their chance encounter, their unexpected surprise and the way their hearts and souls bond was so poignantly beautiful it took my breath away.
I’m not ashamed to say I cried buckets when Hawk shows he’s not infallible. Adding two and two together and coming up with five, he makes the biggest mistake of his life. My heart was thudding for the pain and regret they were both enduring.
Jane Blythe has got everything in this stunningly beautiful rollercoaster ride. You want the highs to be never ending.
This story touched me deeply. So moving and heartfelt.
Cant recommend highly enough.
There aren’t enough stars in the sky to fully portray how wonderful this story is.

Time and time again again. Jane proves Just why she truly is a queen when it comes to writing pretty much any rope in romance . Protecting Hawk only reiterates that . Speechless , mind blowing and on the edge of my seat the whole way through. Heart beating so fast . That’s how I feel whenever I pick up one of Janes unforgettable and unputdownable books .This time around we get Madeline and Hawks emotional rollercoaster of a love story . Hawk has just finished deployment and goes out looking for some fun before he heads back home . He unexpectedly meets Madeline . Sparks literally fly between these two . They spend one passionate night together with no expectations of ever seeing each other again . But that night changes everything for both .certain circumstances of which I’m definitely not going to mention lead Madeline to front doer Eight months later and guess what ? She’s pregnant. But there’s so much more to the story you are absolutely going to want to find out for yourself. . Intriguing, suspense, mystery, off the charts chemistry, non stop action, wonderfully written characters, second chances, secrets , angst , heartbreaking and heartfelt moments, twists and turns, family , friendships tragedy and and much much more . Just we always Jane has Exceeded all expectations and delivered another phenomenal addition to her Special Forces Operation Alpha ( Prey Security Series)

Let me say first that all of the siblings are fantastic but my most favorite is Raven BUT Hawk is now right up there with her. I may have wanted to knock him in the head a few times but he always redeemed himself. I loved Maddy and Hawk what fantastic beginning to their story. Maddy kicked butt, she not only had a terrific job that she did well but she also had to handle getting pregnant by a one night stand, which btw was no where around. When she finds herself in trouble she goes to the only place she knows that will protect her, Prey Security. And boy does she get a surprise, she finds her one night stand and father of her baby but also someone to protect them both. While helping her find her stalker and possibly a serial killer, they find a link that may tie her and Hawk's family together. Only time will tell but when she comes up missing the family will do everything to get her back regardless of her innocence or not. This is a fantastic book one I highly recommend. Plus this series is phenomenal.

Good Lord didn't Hawk and Maddy's unforgettable one night stand turn into one heck of a ride!!

One chance meeting.
One memorable steamy night.
Two Blue Lines.

When Maddy discovers she is pregnant she tries to find the man she couldn't forget.
But sadly has no luck.
Hawk can't forget the beautiful woman he shared an unforgettable night with. He thought constantly about trying to track her down but never found the courage.
Well....
Wasn't he shocked to find a pregnant Maddy in his families security/protection business asking for help.
Oh My! Once again Jane Blythe's storytelling had me absolutely gripped from start to finish. Maddy and Hawk's story had so many elements of what I love in a romantic suspense. It was suspenseful, swoon-worthy, a little frustrating (oh Hawk!), sweet, action-packed, and riddled with twists and turns.
I adored Maddy and Hawk for each other, and their HEA journey is damn bumpy but oh so worth it in the end.
Another wonderful addition to this must read series.
I can't wait to see what Jane Blythe brings us next!

Hawk and maddie

Think we are nearly coming to a end of this series but there is allot of spin off series. This one is about the siblings who own prey security and each one finds love but a enemy of their mum and dad's have been trying to kill them,as we go we find out more as do the siblings about who really killed there parents and why (a very nutty person who don't like being told no) we only Dove left who hasn't been targeted yet this book nearly got the person but well we still have a sibling so...?
Not all siblings worked at prey but now there is talk of two new projects with prey (smart author can give some of the couples a team of single ex military more books to write) of course they have teams now and they talk of how they found love so you can jump to there series.
I did think the maddy running to a hotel because hawk pissed her off but oh I forgot I'm in danger and risking my son lets book room with my card details was stupid.someone just sent her a bomb but that's ok I will take baby and go.really

Hawk Oswald, on a 30 day leave while considering his future can’t forget the alluring woman he met almost a year ago. Madeline Montgomery didn’t need this stress at this phase of her life, alone with a souvenir from a few months ago and how absurd to be on the run from a serial killer that could be law enforcement.

On Hawk’s first day, the last person he expected to see was Maddy, the woman he couldn’t get out of his mind, was quite pregnant! Plus, she seems just as excited to see him but she was in trouble. No doubt Prey will dedicate whatever resources are needed but so far, evidence points to Maddy colluding with the threat to Hawk’s family!

Continued digging helps the Prey team unmask Maddy’s serial killer, a bit more digging produces brings the elusive relative, with the insidiously devious schemes to destroy their family, to the forefront. To my taste, this series started good and has gotten better and this reader will be sorry for it to end.

If you have read any of the other books in this series you will know how good they are and this book is certainly a suspenseful, mind twisting, amazing read. One night started a series of events that have proven to be life changing for all the Oswald family but especially for Hawk and his mysterious woman, Maddy. I loved it all, even Hawk’s convoluted thoughts that Maddy might not be who she claimed to be. He faces a road to redemption ahead of him but we find out some very interesting plot twists by Ms Blythe that has certainly had us all in our heads over the previous books. Have enjoyed this series and I am eager to get on to Dove’s book. I’m thinking Ms Blythe might have a few more surprises up her sleeves.

I received an arc copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Protecting Hawk is an emotional rollercoaster ride filled with recriminations, revelations, treacery, suspense and danger. It's also a deeply moving love story. A one night stand where two stranger ngers exchane their first names only, nothing else, has a lasting impression on both parties. Seeing a very pregnant Maddy walk into Prey Security knocks Hawk for a loop, to say the least. Hearing her story and finding out the child is his brings out every protective instinct that Hawk has. The threat to Maddy maybe twofold and when it's discovered that she unknowingly has ties to the Oswald familu, Hawk mKes a monumental jump to conclsions. He finally pulls his head out but not before Maddy is in danger. A Prey team backed up by a Delta Force team and the Oswald brothers take on the rescue and in addition vanquish an enemy. Hawk gets his family back with some major groveling.

Hawk's Turn for Love

Again, like all the other books in this series, the story opens with lots of action and suspense. Love Hawk and Maddy together, and I'm glad to finally have the motives of the villain after the Oswald family. What a narcissistic, entitled prick, aka Psycho!🙄 Anyway, as usual, the action and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. My one complaint--Maddy running off because of Hawk's accusations was a bit of a letdown and led to easily predicting what would happen next. I get why she was pissed and felt betrayed, but I also see things from Hawk's point of view. With everything that had been happening to their family since what seems like forever, it's understandable that doubt of Maddy appearing in his life would creep in. Hawk did come on a bit strong, but with so much danger lurking, what Maddy did wasn't smart. However, this was a really good story.

Hawk is back from deployment and looking for a one night stand of loving before heading home. Madeline was not what he was expecting, a connection he didn't expect. Eight months later he is still thinking of her when she arrives on his doorstep, unexpected and heavily pregnant. She's in danger, is it connected to her job or connected to Hawk and his family?
This story was like a crazy jigsaw, it didn't connect the way I thought it would at all.
Distrust nearly broke them all apart, who was guilty in this craziness?
Slowly the pieces came together and we see what I've been wondering about for the previous 4 stories.
Such a fantastic action packed story, I love how it all unfolded. I'm already looking forward to this author's next story.

This is another brilliant read in the Prey Security series. Each book develops the story of one of the Oswald siblings this time it was the turn of Hawk facing the repercussions of a one night stand! This book really played on the emotions with a roller coaster of steamy, scary, twisted excitement. I was really keen to find out who was after the Oswald Family so I read this book into the night. The exciting plot twists alongside the developing romance between Hawk and Maddy really brought home to me why Jane Blythe is one of my go-to authors. I love the Prey security series and Hawk has been cemented as one of my favourite siblings. I highly recommend this book and eagerly await the next instalment about Dove

The Prey Security series have been an addiction for me in Jane Blythe's book world! These characters with a mix of others from time to time become and obsession! I have loved Jane's books from day one and I have always been able to let go and live in the characters world.

Protecting Hawk was insanely amazing! My heart was in my throat and I was on the edge more than I can count, but that brings the story together. You need to have these feelings. You need to embrace the emotions. My eyes cried dry and at the end my heart was left content.

Protecting Hawk is a must read! #BookRec2022

Hawk and Maddy's story...is a minefield of emotions. Just when you think there's a positive, bam round the corner comes another missile and their relationship falls apart. This is a true roller coaster, fast paced and heartfelt. Their initial encounter of a one night stand is full of emotions and potential but each walk away...8 months later a very pregnant Maddy reaches out to Prey Security as she has a stalker. The twists and turns that this author has thought of will have you gasping in surprise but also stunned at some of the outcomes. I highly recommend you read this book and would add you read this series in order to get the full benefits of these great characters and storylines.

One night becomes forever

Hawk and Maddy. When one night becomes more. Hawk is the next sibling up for a HEA and he gets a doozy of one with Maddy who was a one night stand that he can’t forget who shows up looking for help over a serial killer she found for the police. Add in some unexpected family connections and a lot of danger, this couple becomes an immediate family with large hurdles they must overcome for their personal and family safety. The prey siblings, Tex, and some of the Susan Stoker Seals all play important roles in helping Maddy and resolving the question of who is out to harm the Prey family. Loved the siblings relationships and how protective all the SEALs were with Maddy. A great addition to this world!

Have you ever just wanted to see inside an author’s brain to figure out how they come up with such amazing stories?! For the whole series, I have been trying to figure it all out and wow was I wrong! Talk about plot twist! Hawk and Maddy, do they go through a lot! The absolute twisted rollercoaster they endure from a one night stand is intense, scary, dramatic, steamy! Can Prey finally solve the mystery of who has been after their family before it’s too late? I read this throughout the night to find out! Love this series and Jane Blythe has cemented herself as one of my all time favourite authors!

Lots of excitement but…

I’ve read the whole series to this point. There is lots of action to keep you interested and the characters are likable. My complaint is that ALL the female characters, regardless of age, have either been threatened of being raped, it into situations where they thought rape was going to occur or have actually been raped. ALL FIVE BOOKS! To me, that’s a bit much. It’s not even like it’s just one part of the book, it’s mentioned throughout. If this is a topic that triggers you, you may want to steer clear.

Wow! Another FANTASTIC story by Jane! This one is about Hawk and Maddie. A one night stand turns into a bond that can't be broken. As always, this story is intense right from the beginning. Maddie is running for her life as a serial killer is after her. It is intense throughout the book as well. It finally comes to a dramatic conclusion when they finally figure which relative was out to get the family. I am happy that we get to see a few HEAs throughout this series. FANTASTIC job Jane! I would highly recommend this book! Can't wait to read Dove's story!

Hawk and Maddy

Gripping, plot twist, steamy and all the siblings pitching in! Phew this was good. Fortunately deciding to binge read this series was a great move, and this book was a serious page turner. Ms Blythe's writing recipe (it's full of alphas brought to their knees and winning strong women) is tested with Hawk and Maddy, but so action packed, emotional and "will they won't they" suggest you grab a copy! For max understanding\enjoyment reading in order is highly recommended - you won't be sorry

Another very good written emotional story. Hawk and Maddy had a very hot one night stand, but both wanted much more, they were to scared to say anything. When Maddy found out she was pregnant. She tried everything to find him, but she thought that Hawk was his nick name. Eight months later she goes to Prey because she is getting chased by a serial killer, that is when she sees Hawk again. He is excited to see her and also he can't believe she is pregnant. That is when everything started to go wrong. This story is explosive. Highly recommend.

Madeline decides to have a one night stand with a handsome solider. He gives her the name Hawk. She thinks it's a nickname. She ends up pregnant. Then her job puts her in danger She goes to Prey for help and have mercy it's the man she can't forget and the father of her baby! As danger closes in they navigate being parents and dating and trying to keep the danger at bay. Will the next Oswold sibling find their HEA?? Or will it go up in smoke??

This one conflicted me.
I loved the suspense/twist angles especially since the author kept it under wraps until now, I didn't see that coming and was very cleverly done.
For me personally I would of loved a tiny bit more of the aftermath of her job related situation, but felt it got drowned out by Hawk's idoicy. Boy did I want to shake him for a lot of the book, even if I could understand the why.
Can't wait to see how the Oswald's react to what they uncovered.

Hawk and Maddy’s story

Man meets woman, they have a one night stand. They meet up 8months later when she’s in trouble and he’s considering whether he should reenlist or join the family firm. There’s also something else.
Fabulous story, beautifully written, great characters, action packed, romantic and thought provoking. Misunderstandings and action abounds too. It’s a great story.

Best book in the series! Loved Hawk and Maddy! A one night stand leads to along road of ups and downs, with danger and drama in spades.

Hawk has a big moment of stupid, but overall he is such a great alpha male. Maddy is smart and perfect for him. She endures some scary moments, but her times with her baby and Hawk are her favorite.

Love the Oswald family too! And the mystery person looking to destroy the family is finally dealt with.
