amazing illistrations and such a great story on which some of the Hindu religion is based! I'm sure many versions are different and I don't know how close this one is to the true story of Rama and Sita but I greatly enjoyed it!

Absolutely wonderful juvenile retelling of the Hindu epic. Chapters are a little long, but can be done as a read-aloud. Illustrations are lovely.

Seeger also has The Mahabharata under the title The Five Sons of King Pandu: The Story of the Mahabharata, Adapted from the English Translation of Kisari Mohan Ganguli - this one is considerably longer, but still manageable for strong readers, but reading aloud would be quite a commitment.

Do not like a book written by foreign author on an Hindu epic, just because they might lose the essence. But this book is not like that.

I read this to my daughter as bedtime reading, which I feel like was a good choice, as it exposed her to the mythology of another culture and I also feel like it would have been a little tedious to read on my own. it also enhanced our experience of listening to mc yogi's elephant power cd.
