I haven't read much Agatha Christie, but this was the perfect choice to get French 'into my head' again in preparation for a week in France. That's because her vocabulary is quite simple and repetitive, so not too many searches in the dictionary required! As for the story: well, the plot was ingenious and engaging, and the characterisation was nugatory. The denouement was absurd - but I still wanted to get to it! Christie's characters are more like chess pieces than real people - and the story is more puzzle than narrative. She's good at what she does - and millions of sales testify to that.
