Recognized as a minister who revealed God, awakened dreams, and led people closer to Jesus, John Paul Jackson (1950–2015) was an authority on biblical dream interpretation for over thirty years. He renewed passion in people of various faiths and age groups with his sincere explanations of the unexplainable mysteries of life and enabled people to relate to God and others in fresh and meaningful ways.
As an inspirational author, speaker, teacher of true spirituality, and host of the television program Dreams & Mysteries, John Paul enlightened hundreds of thousands of people across the world. He found satisfaction in his role as a youth mentor and advisor to church and national leaders, as well as in the promotion of the spiritual arts.
Principally - yes, i agree with many thoughts in the book. It is even nicely put what it means to be a Christian. I liked that it was written in a different lingo that I wouldnt necessarily use myself.
Practically - there are red flags in the text for me. The whole book has a subtext of “blessings” and “prosperity” that “God wants to give you”. And you can recognize someone being under God’s authority if they are loving, healthy, joyful and peaceful people. Although I can understand author’s thoughts, spiritually broken people arent necessarily happy, joyful or healthy. They are human.
Disturbing thing for me was the constant jumping between being humble, submissive and “weak” (so the God’s glory can be shown), and “being worthy” to sort of deserve it. Basically, what I got from this, is, that I have to put my life together, not make any excuses and submit fully to God, otherwise he wont put his Name on me. Although I understand what author wanted to say, the book lacks complex perspective and therefore, unfortunately, even good principles of this book may and will be used in the wrong way.
I also didnt appreciate the repeated sentence “that God doesn’t put us through things we cannot handle”. There were more meanings to this, and I find myself not agreeing to any of them. By this logic, how would someone justify the fact that many people commit suicide because they cannot go on anymore. What about deadly sickness that God doesn’t simply lift off? This principle is just a lazy argument that we use to make ourselves feel better, but doesnt really grasp the complexity of life.
The book’s subtext is oriented on the good things and blessings God wants to give us. My question is - what about Job? He did everything right, yet God chose to withdraw his blessings from him.
This book will be probably popular in pentecostal circles.
A profound book on how God reveals His nature through His names, and how we can take on His nature and His authority through deep relationship with Him.
I love the way John Paul thinks, and the way he presents truths which stay with me and draw me closer to the Lord.
This amazing book rapidly went to one of the best books I've ever read. With all honesty it changes most of the way people think, believe and respond to the very nature, character and actions of God through God's names, which are in fact Him. Marvelous book
