Particulars: Poems of Smallness

Rate this book
In this volume, Jan Seale contemplates small things. Think peppercorns, straight pins, freckles. Think fingernails, commas, stamps. These objects have their own raison d'etre. Here are the small sublime, the Lilliputian laughable, the diminutive dear. Relish their existence. Their essence and standing may be important beyond our or their knowing.

I love the concept for this book, writing about small things.

The book is filled with fascinating trivia about many of these items and creatures. The poet has done her homework. In doing so, I'm sure she surprised herself as much as she surprises us. (Did you know that mosquitos can breed in hydrochloric acid?) Amazing cover photo with a newly-discovered frog (the world's smallest known vertebrate).
