Littles & Lace #1

Asher's Answer

Rate this book
When Asher Scanlon's dad discovers his Little items, Asher finds himself kicked out of home. Fate follows that up with a healthy serve of 'walking in on your boyfriend cheating on you', which is the last thing he needs.

Homeless and close to a breakdown, Ash doesn't think things can get any worse...then his college campus Security calls the cops on him.

Meanwhile, Officer Charlie Walker is a Daddy convinced his unicorn Little is not out there. He can't keep a strict routine and wants to find a man who can be his equal as well as his little boy. Someone whose little side is fluid, who doesn't mind that Charlie's work schedule can be unpredictable, but who still likes someone to nurture and care for them.

What are the chances this anxious little who has just fallen into Charlie's lap fits that bill?

CW: While this is a low-angst, sweet & cute, instant-attraction romance, this book contains brief mentions of homophobia, domestic abuse, gun violence, anxiety and panic attacks. This book is an MM Age Play/Age Regression romance between consenting adults and does include ABDL and wetting. This book contains elements that are suitable for ages 18 and over.

« For everyone who has ever felt weird or abnormal. Fuck the haters. You’re perfect as you are. »

This series is so comforting. A sweet romance, caretaking, some kink play.
Sometimes you just need a book that feels like a warm hug, and age play romances are that for me, a fluffy cuddle to brighten my day.
The third act drama was a little OTT, but I still really enjoyed Asher and Charlie’s story the second time around.
Feeling in the mood for lots of sweetness, so gonna reread the whole series in between heavier reads.

Is it too soon to feel this way? Probably. Is acknowledging that going to prevent me from wanting him? Nope.

CW and tropes (spoilers):
- Age play (w/ ABDL)
- Age gap (22 vs 31)
- Mentions of homophobia & abusive parent
- Cheating ex
- MC w/ anxiety and panic attacks
- Dry humping
- Coming hands-free
- One switch scene
- Bottom tops for the first time
- Rimming

This felt like a Cliffs Notes version of a story.

We are told how abusive Asher's father is, that Asher loves his new job, that Charlie gets shot, but none of this is described in any detail on page.

Big chunks of time and important events, like Asher going to therapy, are vaguely summarized and dismissed.

I also noted dozens of editing fails.

Lots of potential, lazy writing.

Absolutely consumed this book. It was short and sweet with absolutely nothing that I could find to complain about which is quite the compliment coming from me. The kink was done wonderfully and yes I find healthy communication when kink is involved to be sexy as fuck so I loved to see so much of that here and we get to see healthy safeword use. I’m super picky with what I consider to be a good ageplay book but this one definitely was on the better side

Book safety, content warnings, and tropes down below.

“We’re equals in this, Charlie. It’s a give and take. And just because you’re dominant doesn’t mean you can’t be vulnerable and need help sometimes. Just like my being submissive doesn’t mean I’m weak and helpless.”

This is a reread for me, and I’m so glad I read it again. It really is so freaking cute and sweet. There’s a touch of fluff for sure and an instant connection between the MCs, but it won’t rot your teeth out. The almost instalove definitely works for me in this book.

Asher being able to regress *with* someone for the first time is heartwarming, and I enjoy watching him slowly realize that he isn’t ‘abnormal’ or a ‘pervert’ (his dad’s words), but that his wants and needs are okay and normal. His new friends and found family definitely help with this aspect, as they’re all a part of the lifestyle. ‘Uncle Ted’ warms my heart, and probably will yours too if you read it. He’s a good friend and takes on a caregiver role when Asher’s Daddy isn’t around. There’s nothing sexual about it, but they’ll play together and Ted will read him stories at night, etc. It’s freaking adorable.

I will say there’s a definite element of telling instead of showing throughout this, but I still enjoyed it. It is also the author’s debut I believe.

“Thanks, Josh. I’ve got him from here.” Wait. Hold up. I’m being left here with this new guy all alone? Nope. This is how serial killer movies start. The thought is such a valid one, in fact, that I stamp my foot and repeat it aloud.

“I’ve been reading a lot about BDSM since Theodore explained the situation.” Flashbacks to her lectures on gay sex have me already struggling to get back to my feet so I can escape.

An overly sweet story. Oddly enough, it felt drawn out to me even though it doesn't have that many pages. The plot is set up quite nicely, and the relationship between Asher and Charlie develops authentically. And Asher is super cute, whether he's Little or Big.

Most people have something that makes them tick, and to be ashamed of what I share with Charlie -with my Daddy- is unfair to him and our relationship. I’m still not going to walk down the street broadcasting our lifestyle, but I no longer panic at the thought of someone discovering that I’m kinky, even if the kink I’m into is sometimes even looked down on by others in the BDSM community, which I think is ridiculous.

I don't like the ending. The additional drama was rather unnecessary and is unfortunately not well developed. The relationship gets artificial problems imposed on it this way, but they are not resolved reasonably at all. And then suddenly there is an epilogue that leaves a happy ending with unanswered questions. Unfortunately, this doesn't convince me to continue the series, nor did the secondary characters impress me.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️.5/5
Format: audiobook
Narration: 🎤/5

So, for future reference: I absolutely cannot listen to an audiobook with age regression. Probably just a me problem but I got the ick so bad and it ruined the entire reading experience for me.

As for the story… It was okay but I felt like there wasn’t a lot of depth to the main characters. We got little glimpses of Asher’s abuse from his dad but I feel like it wasn’t enough to really understand him. Or even more about his cheating ex. He was just very one-dimensional. Charlie fell even more flat for me. I knew absolutely nothing about him and I couldn’t connect with him due to it.

The story moved a little too fast, but then tended to have many areas where nothing was happening and I was bored. I did like that this couple was vers, which is rare for daddy kink, but otherwise the spice was just meh.

I was actually way more interested in the side characters. Might come back for Ted’s and Josh’s stories. Scenes they were in were pretty much the only ones I enjoyed.

The good
+ Charlie diving straight into being Asher's Daddy, no hesitation
+ Josh
+ Asher coming out of his shell
+ Asher learning to trust Charlie completely
+ Safewording scene! A scene where a character safewords and the other stops immediately is always *chef's kiss*
+ Their policy of complete honesty with each other
+
+ All the Uncles, especially Uncle Ted
+ Josh again. He deserves a second mention
+ Matt. I really hope he finds his own HEA in the next book
+ Asher feeling right at home with Charlie's family

The neutral
o I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. My review remains honest and unbiased
o Their first sexual encounter was too soon in my opinion (I believe even on the first or second day?), but neither of them minded, so that's fine then I guess
o This book contains sexual age play, which I personally don't like. But it's not a big part of their sexual dynamic

The bad
- I don't like books with 'sexual harassment family members'. Charlie's mom should respect his boundaries and not push herself where she isn't wanted - especially in conversations about his sex life. Also, showing your daughter a video of her own birth is not funny or good sex ed, it's traumatizing or at least a horrible memory. Sex is supposed to be fun, and ruining that for your child is just petty. [Edit two days later: The author has acknowledged this, and changed it for the final version!]
- Charlie's were described as something that made their relationship stronger. Instead, I felt like it made their relationship weaker. They felt bad, and when Charlie managed to communicate his wants and needs Asher didn't really change his behavior accordingly. To me it didn't feel like it made them stronger, and then suddenly we were launched into the epilogue

Quotes
x "I'm happy to be your Daddy, little lamb." And oh. Oh. That's new. That's new and I love it. But I'm too little to explain just how much. "Baa," I blurt at him instead.
x "I'm gonna keep your mom if it's all the same with you."

I liked this book. It was sweet and I loved seeing Asher come out of his shell. I'm also genuinely excited for Matt's, Ted's and Josh's books. I can't pick my favorite out of those three. I want all of their books please, even when I normally don't read ABDL. I'll make an exception for these guys. Anyway, yeah, would recommend this book and I'll definitely read Matt's book when it comes out.

Asher & Charlie
Rating: 3.0 ⭐
Narrator: Zachary Zaba

- Daddy/little
- Age Gap
- Hurt/Comfort
- Age Play
- Police Officer/Student
- Forced Proximity
- Found Family

This cute and sweet, feels insta-lust/love which is to be expected with most age play romance stories. There's some fluff but not over the top. In one day, Asher was thrown out of his home and found his boyfriend cheating on him, leaving him with no place to go. He tries to stay at the library and his car until campus security catches up to him.

Asher knowing that he's a little but never getting the chance to regress with someone, makes his interactions with Charlie that much sweeter. It was nice to see him slowly see that he's not 'abnormal' or a 'pervert' for being gay and a little (his dad's words). Asher gained so much confidence having new friends, new job, and of course Daddy Charlie.
“We’re equals in this, Charlie. It’s a give and take. And just because you’re dominant doesn’t mean you can’t be vulnerable and need help sometimes. Just like my being submissive doesn’t mean I’m weak and helpless.”

There's a bit more telling than showing in this story, but it's one of the authors earlier works, I think.

Content Warnings:
- Graphic sexual content between consenting adults
- Gun violence
- Gunshot wound
- Injured and hospitalized MC
- Panic attacks
- ABDL (with wetting)

- Themes of parental abandonment and rejection
- MC cheated on by (ex) boyfriend

I feel like this story lacked depth. It reads more like “baby’s guide to age regressing” than a story. Like, lots of explanations, I think. Maybe I just feel that way because I’ve never experienced ANY form of content w age regression, but… idk. The content itself is ok, I think l’m a little put off by the pacifiers and diapers (not for me!) but I didn’t dislike it for that reason. Shmeh.

Also: pro cop propaganda. Yuck!

This kinda book is my comfort read. Swoon-worthy, sweet, fluffy, and endearing. Something that I know I'll always love and never get tired or bored with.

Charlie is the most understanding, patient, gentle, perfect Daddy/caretaker. He just has so much love to give. I wish I could have a Daddy like him. 🥹

Ryan is one anxious boy due to his asshole father, but yet somehow manages to be the sweetest, cutest boy ever. 🤗

P.S. Anna Sparrows if you're reading this, please write more books for me to read. 😚

Asher’s Answer

Sweet book with a lovely story. I appreciate how much the book focused on not just the Little and what he needed, but on both characters, what they each got out of it, and how each met the other’s needs.

Daddy Charlie and Little Ash

Now this is a Little story I can get behind. Was there an element of insta-love and moments that would never actually happen? Yep. Do I care? Not a bit.

Asher was such a vulnerable Little. Being kicked out of his house and finding his boyfriend cheating put Asher at the end of his rope. Thankfully, he happens to get a big break to help him out. Daddy Charlie was wonderful. He was so understanding and patient with Asher. He was also super sexy. He treated Asher with tenderness and care but also knew how to get down and dirty.

Two of my favorites parts of the book: Asher safe wording and Charlie immediately stopping and comforting Asher. We don’t see safewording very often in books and I really appreciate its use here. I also really loved seeing the human side of Charlie. He shows frustration at his situation and feels his shortcomings while recovering from an injury will hinder his Daddy duties. Asher quickly dissuades him of that. But it was nice seeing the human side of the Daddy.

I wish some of the time jumps hadn’t happened, a week or two here and there. I would have liked to see the development of their relationship a little more. But overall, this was such an enjoyable read and reminded me how much I love Daddy/Little books. I can’t wait to read the rest of the stories in this series.

This was fun! I really enjoyed the story and the characters. I was looking for a low angst, sweet time, and I got it. Asher is great. He's so sweet and kind. He's trusting and thoughtful. I love how confident he becomes in what he likes and how easily he can switch between Big and Little eventually. I love Charlie, too. He's caring and thoughtful. He's a genuinely good person. I love how patient he is and how he leaves everything up to Asher to move forward. I really enjoyed seeing these two get to know each other while living together. Their found family is really sweet, too.

Notes: daddy/little, mc experiencing homelessness, cop mc, found family, homophobic parent (dad), supportive family

Rating: 3
Steam: 2
PoV: dual, 1st person
Genre: contemporary romance, MM
Main tropes: hurt / comfort, kink, age gap

This was a new to me author, and I honestly thought this would be right up my alley since I have such a soft spot for books with Daddy kink, littles in need and hurt / comfort, but sadly it fell a little short for me.

It was a very sweet and heartwarming story, and I loved to see Asher and Charlie together. Asher was adorable, and it was easy to feel for him with what he'd been through. Charlie was instantly smitten with him and the Daddy / little dynamic between them felt very natural. It was great to see Asher find safety and a place where he could be himself though, and the kink was sweet and well written.

There was a lot of potential and I wish it was longer and a little bit more in depth, I would have loved more showing instead of telling as well as more descriptions. Things kept happening but I felt kind of distanced from them, and it just didn't have the emotional impact that I wanted it to.

Overall I think that sadly my expectations were a little high for this one, and while it was a sweet and enjoyable read, it just didn't hit me the way I thought it would. I enjoyed the characters and kink though, so I'll definitely look up more books by this author.

This was the first story that I’ve read by this author and it definitely won’t be the last. I’m so glad that I took the chance to read this. It was so wonderful and sweet. Asher and Charlie fit so well together. The characters are so well written and I hope that there are a lot more stories coming because I want to read about all of them. This was such a great story.

Asher is a Little bit in lust with his Daddy

Yet they pair so well together that Daddy gets more than enough of what he dreams fo, even if his work schedule gets in the way. Even bullets cannot keep him down for long, as friends and family help him to heal himself to keep his Little who keeps him focused and dedicated.

Not going to lie, I read a ton of mm age play. This was fairly standard for the genre. That doesn't mean it was good, because it's wonderful. The characters are realistic and funny. They dynamic feels a bit rushed but toward the middle things smooth out.

Really liked how the next book was set up. Also was a fan that the big issue toward the end was a miscommunication problem.

Asher standing up for himself won me over. I was on the fence about the whole book when Charlie and Asher moved super fast that first night.

Overall a very fluffy and fun read.

Really enjoyed reading this story.
A great Daddy little book. Ash's journey thru fully discovering his little side and dealing with past traumas are helped by his therapy and talking to his Daddy and other littles. There are a few bumps in the road but they get thru them together and with the help of family and friends.
Great group of characters and love Charlie's family.
Really looking forward to reading the next in this series.

Ash and Charlie were the perfect match. They meet after Ash is caught living on campus by Josh, Charlie's younger brother. Upon seeing the Little in Ash, Josh takes him to Charlie, a Daddy who is able to help Ash with what he needs.

The connection between them was incredible and the sex scenes were on fire. I loved the banter between them both as well as the side characters who love and support them both. My heart broke for Ash when they were in the hospital, but I loved the communication between them and how they grew as a couple from it.

I hope we get to see Chance, Ted, Matteo, Max and Josh's stories soon too as I have no doubt they are going to be incredible!

Asher’s Answer by Anna Sparrows
.
➳ New Author Alert! PSA my Daddy Kink lovers, Anna Sparrows has just dropped their first book and I read it in one sitting. You all know my obsession with all things Daddy…well I am constantly searching for new authors who write in this category and I have finally struck gold. This book contains some of my very favorites. Officer Charlie and Little Ash find themselves thrown together after Ash is kicked out of his home. Ash is slowly exploring and learning acceptance of his niche kink and Officer Charlie is just the man to help him through it. This book has a little hurt/comfort, lots of communication, found-family, and tons of consent. I am already looking forward to the next book!

I very much enjoy a good daddy/little story and this one was fantastic! The characters were very realistic and easy to fall in love with! I loved how Charlie was able to give Asher what he needed as well as himself. Asher was able to learn to love himself because Charlie showed him how!

The side characters were great and I hope that future books include them!
