Over the past two years, Rory has learned that other people aren’t the best of company, that the guilt of causing the Apocalypse is a heavy burden, and that monsters only see him as a meal. Until Rory met Inkiri, who sees Rory as his mate.

Now, Rory has to navigate what it means to be with someone who not only isn’t human but who also is from another world altogether… and since Rory finds himself in that otherworld all of a sudden, he has to adapt fast. Inkiri definitely has no intention of slowing down in his quest to make his human mate happy.

While Rory is beginning to wrap his head around liking the new place and the new customs, he can’t relax into a peaceful happily ever after because whatever connection Rory has to the magic that unleashed the Apocalypse, people want that, meaning they want him. Where Rory and his newfound family ran to may not have been far enough to escape their pursuers’ clutches.

Magic & Home is another sweet offering in this monster series.
I adore Inkiri and Rory together. Rory has the right idea of just wanting his monster mate just dote on him, but obviously the Koa Esher have other ideas.
Largely set on another world, there is a ton of workbuilding and description that paint a beautiful picture. It isn't overdone at all and I found myself finishing the book quickly.
I'm looking forward to more answers about Rory's abilities

This is the second installment of Rory’s adventures in magic, apocalyptic mayhem, a monster for a mate (and others for newly found friends), and a variety of other exciting, interesting, and suitably perilous things. The events in this book follow those of the first book in the series, Ash & Stone, so you’ll want to start there if you haven’t already. I love the world building in this series, and there’s a lot of it, deftly done, in this book, as Rory and Inkiri are now in Inkiri’s homeward. It’s an interesting and immersive place to spend time, and I liked it very much. I also love the dynamic between Inkiri and Rory. The supporting characters are solid gold and I love them too. I won’t say too much about the events of the plot, but that’s pretty compelling too— all in all, a really satisfying continuation to an interesting (in all the best ways) series.

Magic & Home is the second story in the Monster Apocalypse series. It’s helpful to read Ash & Stone First. Magic & Home is even better than the first one, I quickly got sucked right into it. Love, love, love Rory and Inkiri!! Inkiri is just so darn sweet. Rory and Inkiri are now on Aër, Inkiri’s home planet along with the gang. Fantastic world building!! I’m curious about the magic that Rory can do. Overall, a fantastic read! Well written with great pacing!

A bit more worldbuilding than the first book and you get a better grasp on what is going on and what they expect from their relationship (although this came up rather by accident, as in "oh, you keep talking about polys, is there going to be another mate in our future?").

Again the cover is completely misleading and would not make me pick up the book if I was looking for a fantasy, dystopian, monster etc. read. The guy rather looks like a Spanish Bullfighter...
Matadors
instead of a guy vacationing in Ireland originating from America and currently trying to survive in a dystopian landscape.

I love this series. Rory and his guys are back and they are still trying to figure out things about the monster apocalypse. They get some down time which doesn't get to last long. I'm anxious to get to book three to continue on with the revelations.

I received an ARC and this is my unbiased opinion

Magic has power and mystery to control

Ash and his mate try to help protect their group of linked friends from the attacks of the humans and their allies on the world Ash's friend called home. But repeated attacks with guns and fire bring out resistance until it is not safe and all return to Ireland and discover more of the history of Ash's magic.

Magic and Home
Alexa Piper

Rory and the gang are back to it again giving you adventure as their journey continues.
I love the way Inkiri says "sweet thing" to Rory and there's more "barb".
All the other characters returned (Lissir, Fellisse, Nokim, Vergis) for more magic and mystery and some new characters brought into it.
The way the story is told it's like your there with the characters seeing what they see, and wondering the same question the characters are asking "who could behind this"?
I look forward to more books to come bringing more information and new characters.
I highly recommend this book.

Another amazing book from Alexa Piper in the Monster Apocalypse series. You should read the first book in the series for this book to make sense. Rory and Inkiri are on Aër, Inkiri's home world. It is fun to watch Rory learn about Inkiri's home world. We also get to know more about the rest of the guys in the group. I loved all the dialogue between Rory and Vergis. I can't wait for the next book in the series. This series has the love and romance you would expect, plus a great story to go with it. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

Magic & Home is a great continuation to Rory's story. He gets to spend time in the home world of Inkiri, his blue mate. There is a lot to explore and he spends great times with his monster friends Nokim, Lissir, Fellisse, and even Vergis. I enjoyed the creativity the author showed in designing this new world and culture. The down time was much appreciated as the end of Book One had been full of action.

We don't get to spend this whole book in peaceful exploration, however. As there are enemies in this new world who want to take both Rory and Vergis from their found family. The action in this book kept me on the edge of my seat, hoping everyone I cared about in Aër came out unscathed. I appreciate that even though he survived the Apocalypse alone for two years, Rory doesn't suddenly find himself an action hero. The best thing he can do during violence is avoid distracting those who do know what they're doing.

The magic system in this series is mysterious. We do learn more about what both Vergis and Rory can do, and maybe a little bit of the why. Also Rory is a trouble magnet. Good thing his big blue mate found him when he did. I love how much Inkiri loves Rory and wants to protect and dote on him. They're adorable!

Best Trophy Mate Ever

“All I wanted was to be a simple human guy who’d met his mate in a woman’s changing room and lived happily ever after as a trophy mate, nothing more, nothing less.”

Alexa Piper picks up right from the end of book one, Ashes and Stone, as human Rory and bagua Inkiri, must magic themselves, with Rory’s guys, to Aer, Ink’s home, in Magic & Home.

Apparently, according to Vergis, Rory is a magnet for dangerous situations, and this becomes evident in book two of the Monster Apocalypse series. During what should be a romantic time of celebration, this family group finds themselves, once again, attempting to combat the Koa Esher, as they pursue Rory.

Amidst the fighting and blood and gore, there are many soft, warm, and funny moments to be found-especially with the always flippant Vergis.

I love how Alexa has given us the gift of love that continues to build in each story. I have just started book three, Blood & Fate, and while not usually a fan of cliffhangers, I will happily follow Rory, Ink, and all these wonderful beings in each book Alexa creates!

More magic, more intrigue and more love.

I liked book one in this series and I’m glad I picked up book two. This one is set in Ink’s world, and I really felt like I was there with the characters. I liked the pacing and the way this book is set up. The story moves so fast, but it’s a great clip. I was right there with the characters and liked how they grew through this book.

Ink and Rory are good together and I liked seeing how they grew together. Rory is starting to come into his magic a bit more and Ink has welcomed Rory into his world. They’re a great pairing.

This isn’t a simple story. Ink has found family with him, and they add their own complications. Plus, Rory seems to be a magnet for trouble. These added layers to the story and I liked it. I liked how things never really slowed down.

If you’re looking for a monster romance that’s not the usual, then this might be the one you’re looking for. Check this one out!

A cute sequel to Ash & Stone.

In Magic & Home Rory gets to see the monsters' world, join the local festivities, try the local food, and make friends with more monsters. There is some action and magic, and understanding Rory's magic some more.

It's all very cute and low angst, which suits Rory just fine because after two years of surviving the Apocalypse, he wants nothing more than not have magic and just be a trophy husband to Inkiri, getting spoiled with scarfs and socks, and be ravished a lot.

The references to playing a tree, and the addition of new shrubbery, continued to make me laugh out loud. Rory is a funny guy and that is what makes this series for me.

A definite improvement!! This was so good! The first book I said was slow going but improved throughout the course of the first book, this one started off so good and just continued being good.

We got to see more of these characters and to learn more about where they all come from, we got to see more of Rory's magic that no one really understands. We also got introduced to Vergis's dad in this book as well. There was so much action and adventure and all of those scenes were really well written. This story is definitely one of a kind. I'm looking forward to learning more about what Rory is and where his magic comes from.

I do strongly suggest you read the first book before this one. If you don't this book won't make much sense.

*I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.*

Yes, the next in the ongoing saga of Rory and Inkiri! I really liked this one more than Ash and Stone. It was set in Ink's world of Aer with wonderful worldbuilding. Obviously we get more of Rory and Inkiri but also of the rest of the Ink's sentenmen, found family. Particularly Vergis who sits astride two worlds because of his fathers. Rory finds out who his mate really is and they celebrate a significant milestone. So much fun! Then just as they are about to celebrate that milestone, holy cow, all heck breaks loose! But Alexa doesn't let it end there, we get a better view of Rory's magic, thank goodness! Now we have to wait for the third story!

P.S. The author includes a lexicon but a cast of characters who would be nice for those of us with a memory like a sieve!

Pretty Good

This was honestly a 3 star for me until about 70%. I like the progression of Vergis and Rory’s friendship, Inkiri and Rory are as mates are. But the 3 star rating was because Rory is was lacking for me until then. Let’s give this man more credit than this, he survived in the apocalypse for 2 years on his own, even if he wants to take a step back and be a ‘trophy mate’ now he at least had enough gumption to survive alone for 2 years. Once the 70% mark hits he is all in, it’s like he’s two different people when his ‘knights’ are on the line. Also, he needs to learn Ink’s language.

Rory's story continues where the first left off.

Waking up in Inkiri's world, Rory finds he likes it there. He discovers more things about himself, and the Koa Esher mages are still enemy number one.
I love how Inkiri treats his sweet little Rory. I also like Vergis way better in this one. I think I need more of him and everyone else. I love these guys!!
Great story. It is face paced and that's a good thing for me. 😍😍😍😍😍

I enjoyed this installment much more than the first book. This book I'll give a solid 4 star rating. Much more action and magic and a little less whining from Rory, plus him being more useful to the group, made for a much better read this time around. I'm actually looking forward to reading the next book!
