Very, very useful and well formatted book. I am a beginner and this is just what I needed. Although the examples are often illustrated with female clothing in mind, the techniques can be applied to male or female garments. Easy to follow and thorough in terms of being a simple guide to stitchwork.

Im studying fashion design and dress making and this book is amazing. It has anything you could possibly need to know when it comes to sewing. The different materials, equipment and sewing techniques you should know... A great book for anyone who wants to start sewing or is doing a similar course to mine.

An excellent refresher book for the experienced sewer who has been away from sewing for a while - and an excellent instructional book for the novice sewer. All aspects of basic sewing are covered - along with skills for intermediate to experienced sewers.

If you are building a reference library for your sewing hobby - this is one to add to the library.

This book had GREAT pictures and a good intro section on tools and basics. The color pictures were very helpful for copying the actions.

My biggest problem with this book is that it is all about clothes. It has sections on collars, necklines, cuffs, waists, etc. etc. I need other information as I would plan on doing home decor stuff, accessories, cards, etc. So a book solely on clothes is not super helpful to me. Plus, I have to admit, some of the styles seemed very outdated, but comprehensive!

I have this and THE SEWING BOOK by Alison Smith both published by DK right now. I love Smith's a lot more, but both work great for a begining sewer like myself. I got both from the library but have already been on amazon to order my own copy.

This is a great sewing reference book, and a good source for inspiration as well. I pick this up and re-read it often. If only it came with video tutorials...then it would be even more super.

Un ottimo manuale da consultazione per sapere come fare non solo le cose semplici (orli, pieghe, ecc.) ma anche le cose più complicate (colli, polsini, ecc.). Ottimo da avere sempre sottomano quando si fa qualcosa!
