Even though most of the recipes prepared by Clarissa Dickson-Wright and Jennifer Patterson in their Two Fat Ladies television series are really not gastronomically all that appealing to me (too much meat, too much fat, too much salt), I still have very much enjoyed watching the episodes and especially the sometimes cynical but always delightfully sarcastic sense of sometimes quite outrageous humour that especially Jennifer Patterson tends to often present. And yes indeed, albeit I will not likely ever prepare many if in fact any of the actual recipes featured in the series, I did learn some interesting and equally also very much interesting and enlightening general food preparation tips from in particular Clarissa Dickson-Wright who does seem to have a real knack for providing detailed and easy to follow verbal instructions whilst preparing her dishes (and suggestions I have tried on occasion since watching Two Fat Ladies and which I have certainly found quite successful and usable).

But as much as I have found watching Jennifer Patterson and Clarissa Dickson-Wright on television entertaining, diverting and also educational, the main cookbook which accompanies the series, Two Fat Ladies: Gastronomic Adventures (With Motorbike and Sidecar) really has been rather majorly disappointing. For while watching Jennifer and Clarissa and listening to their banter on TV has proven to be both fun and diverting, reading this all on paper has been rather tedious, dragging and makes The Two Fat Ladies seem rather miserable and curmudgeonly, something that I certainly did not and do not feel with regard to the television series, but which does become uncomfortably apparent and annoying reading Two Fat Ladies: Gastronomic Adventures (With Motorbike and Sidecar). Therefore and combined with the fact that the majority of Jennifer Patterson and Clarissa Dickson-Wright’s presented recipes are really not all that appealing to and for me taste-wise anyhow and that there are also not nearly enough photographs included, I really have not found Two Fat Ladies: Gastronomic Adventures (With Motorbike and Sidecar) all that pleasant a reading experience and will not bother with the remaining cookbooks penned by Clarissa Dickson-Wright and Jennifer Patterson either and will instead stick to watching and also rewatching them on the tube, as yes, I absolutely and majorly have enjoyed the latter (the TV series) as much as I have not found Two Fat Ladies: Gastronomic Adventures (With Motorbike and Sidecar) all that much to my reading tastes by any stretch of my imagination.

Absolutely Love this book which I picked up at a book sale at the animal shelter . . . I don't watch TV so had never heard of these wonderful ladies and have been catching up on YouTube! I am of English decent though never visited UK except Ireland, too bad, would love to but getting a bit old to travel . . . if not to cook. I still love to cook and try new recipes and tastes . . . and have bookmarked several recipes to try, including the beetroot and horseradish! among others . . .
