“If we were in a proper spirit, the question with us would not so much be ‘What must I do for God?’ as ‘What can I do for God?’”

Andrew Fuller was a godly Christian, pastor, and friend. He founded the missionary society whose first missionary was none other than William Carey, the father of modern missions. This collection of letters provides a good glimpse of Fuller’s spiritual temperament and priorities. He is one of my pastor’s heroes for good reason.

to summarize the personality of Andrew Fuller i would say that he was a man driven by his low view of man, high view of God, and extraordinary offer of salvation. If all Christians were as devoted and driven as Fuller we would be living in a time of great revival for sure.

This book is a must-read for all Baptists who wish to know more about Baptist history while absorbing good devotional material that nourishes one's soul. Andrew Fuller helped to pull the English Baptists out of a theology that was a virtual straitjacket to evangelism without falling into the Arminianism that later evangelicals did. Fuller's passion for evangelism helped provide the theological foundation that led to the modern missionary movement. A friend of William Carey, the first Baptist missionary to India, he was also involved in sending Carey and other missionaries abroad. The book consists of a series of letters that Fuller sent out to his associates. The letters consist in biographical material, theological commentary, spiritual exhortation, and encouragement. Highly recommended.
