An age-gap, praise-filled, wickedly-hot romance where opposites definitely attract
“That’s my good girl…”
She was a good girl.
I wanted to make her my good girl.
Joss Lennon was shy. Sweeter than any baked good. Outta my league.
Her life was cupcakes, hand turkeys, and working too many hours to pay the mortgage her ex-fiance dumped on her. Mine was strip club drama, breaking hands, and working too many hours to fix the dumpster fire my cousin left me. I had no business sniffing around Joss. No business wondering about her pent-up wild. It would be selfish to drag her into my wicked.
That wasn’t gonna stop me.
‘Cause, truth be told, I’d been addicted to Joss since the first smile. I didn’t care how much time it took, I was making her mine and never letting go.
Except when it came to the pretty kindergarten teacher… I wasn’t the only one with a growing obsession.
Warning: This book is intended for mature audiences. Not necessarily emotionally mature but, like, at least over 18. While it can be read as a standalone, it is highly recommended you read the other books in the series.
Growing up, Layla Frost used to hide under her blanket with a flashlight to read the Sweet Valley High books she pilfered from her older sister. It wasn’t long before she was reading hidden Harlequins during class at school. This snowballed into pulling all-nighters after the promise of “just one more chapter”.
Her love of reading, especially the romance genre, took root early and has grown immeasurably until it was time to write her own stories.
When she's not writing, Layla Frost is an insomniac with a deep love of iced coffee, tchotchkes, plants, and her hens. She's also the world's okayest mom, but her kids think she's cool... ish.
Where do I start? There was so much I enjoyed about this story, but no surprise there cos this author doesn't disappoint. In Wild Wicked Obsession we got cool and witty dialogue, a dirty talking Alpha paired with a relatable girl who could use a break, and an awesome circle of friends. How I have missed the Hyde series!
I had to con her into thinking it was a good idea to take a walk on the wrong side of the tracks with a bastard like me.
Joss Lennon is lovely and shy. Dating her first love, she's a school teacher and a peace keeper. Well until she finds her fiancé in a compromising position. Now single with a mortgage she can't afford, she's juggling multiple jobs, and is in a bit of a pickle. Apart from the delicious perks of her secondary job in a bakery, there's also the man candy which is Lars Luther.
God, he was such a gentleman. A gentleman with a wild side, filthy mouth, and kisses that made me wetter than I’d ever been.
Strip club owner and ex con Lars. A gentleman encased in tattoos and motorcycle boots. What's not to drool over? A little dangerous, plenty honorable, he's evidently taken with Joss. Too bad they're initially clueless when it comes to each other. Now they're working together and the close proximity is catnip. And the moment he realizes he could lose his girl, Lars is all business. Nothing hotter than balls of steel and a man not afraid to speak his mind.
"I don’t play games. And sure as shit don’t share. So when I finally get inside you, I’ll do it knowing that pussy is mine and mine alone. And you’ll take me knowing I’ve been yours since that first smile. Get me?"
Finally a story of a woman rediscovering her self worth, gaining confidence and channeling her inner vixen. The dynamics between Joss and Lars was spot on. With awesome chemistry and respect, his adoration was empowering. Loved this!
🌟Brief Summary: Joss has always wanted to take a walk on the wild side but she has let herself get lost in what her fiancé wants of her. That is until she busts him cheating on her w a stripper from his bachelor party and she has a huge wake-up call that her life is going in a direction she doesn’t want.
What’s a girl to do now? Well she dumps her cheating ex and gets herself a hot tattooed motorcycle riding OTT Obsessed man who shows her how to take that walk on the WILD SIDE she’s always knew was inside of her. Along the way she makes good friends, finds her herself and finds herself a WILDLY OBSESSED SOULMATE
😍This was fun, sweet and sexy.
❣️Things I Liked/Loved❣️ ❤️Lars! Super swoony OTT JP goodness
❤️Liked that this was relationship based. The h definitely finds herself and has some growth. Lots of couples time.
❤️Love that this was safe and sweet and had lots of those romantic feels I love
Things I Did 💔 Not Like
‼️Alien frog leg!!! like who call their unborn child that!? I just couldn’t with this ✋🏻
‼️h inner monologue was just so redundant so it made it boring at times
‼️h family were a bunch of assholes
💯Can be read as a standalone but lots of past character interactions put this on the side of BARLEY a standalone.
🥀 Hero: 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lars- 34 yr ❤️ him -He is the owner of a strip club. -He’s VERY professional and does not sleep with the dancers -He is NOT sketchy or skevy or giving off gross vibes AT ALL. -He is OTT obsessed with the h and EVERYTHING WE LOVE. He is JP, protective and only has eyes for the h. -❤️I loved that he was vulnerable with her and somewhat insecure cause he knew she was to good for him🥹 -It took him a bit long to make a move on her cause he thought she was to good for him. -❤️HE IS CELIBATE FROM THE MOMENT HE LAYS EYES ON HER!!
🦋 Heroine: 3.5⭐️⭐️⭐️ Joss 24 yrs -School teacher -6 year engagement and I’m pretty sure her only BF and lover -She busted him cheating w a stripper…. 6 months later she works a second job at a bakery to make more money so she can keep her house. -For a month when book opens the H comes in to get a cookie and see her when the doors opens. -‼️Her inner monologue was way too long and a bit narcissistic….annoying -She was a push over in her life for the first half of the book but really 💯comes into her own for the second half. -She would have been more likable if her constant inner conversations where she just really thinks highly of herself or something really got repetitive and annoying. But she was a decent h and sweet girl and good for the H.
💭 POV: Duel first person
🔥 Burn Rate: Medium Very insta-love but they don’t get together for a while. Once they do it’s fast, hot and very steamy.
😡/😍 Angst level: Low Low conflict. There are definite moments of excitement but it would say low angst.
❤️🔥 Sexy times & Descriptive sex: Yes! 3.5 🔥🔥🔥 Lots of chemistry between H and h
🌓 Push/Pull: No
☠️ OW/OM Drama: No OWD OMD- her ex wants her back and causes some trouble. She doesn’t want him back AT ALL.
OWD- so in the previous book…. The H was into the h for a short period of time. They kissed and realized they were not ment to be. But in this book the h thinks he is still hung up on her for like 2 sec he clears it up. He might have had interests but it’s wasn’t a thing.
🤮 OW/OM Sex / Fluid or DNA Exchange: None
🤬 Cheating: None
👰🏼♀️ Virgins: None- H -we don’t get much history. I don’t think He is a manho 🥳…but he is definitely experienced. ❤️HE WAS CELIBATE FROM THE MOMENT HE LAID EYES OH HER🥳🥳🥳
h- she hadn’t been w anyone since her ex. About 6 months? She has only been w her ex and they had boring missionary sex ONLY and a very boring sex life. So a lot was new to her w the H 🙄…. 🙄🙄🙄
⛈️Separation/ 3rd Act Breakup: None
🎧AUDIO 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Both Narrators did a good job of showing emotions and difference in characters.
Safety⚠️Triggers🗡️: -Cheating not between H&h -Slightly long and boring inner monologue from h -Kidnapping -Single white female 😳 -Unexpected pregnancy -Strippers- hardly ever shown and no drama w any. -Violence -Men who don’t like complete sentences -ALIEN FROG LEGS 😳
🌈Epilogue: Yes 5 weeks later
🥂HEA: Yes 😍5years later Married w kids
❌My opinion is just that… MY OPINION. I know we all get passionate about our favorite reads and characters but we should respect each opinions a thoughts. ~Thank you

I enjoy Layla Frost's brand of OTT, possessive, and obsessed guys being paired with likable heroines. This is a steamy book with a H who doesn't think he's good enough for the h and a h who has some insecurities but is also snarky, sweet, and fun. The story is written in first person, dual POV. No ow drama, some om drama (from h's ex who she caught cheating but zero interest on her end getting back with him), neither were virgins (H hasn't been with anyone else since he set eyes on h and h hasn't been with anyone for months because of her last relationship), and bc discussed/used (although the H does have a bit of a breeding kink FYI for those that this might not be for them - it's slight but definitely there).
Lars (H) owns a strip club and Joss (h) is a kindergarten teacher who also works part time at her friend's bakery. Their chemistry is instant and there is some mutual pining that happens before the tension snaps. Things definitely get steamy between them, but they also had nice emotional development I thought. Along with the relationship development, there are also some known and unknown threats causing trouble for both Lars and Joss. While I liked the main characters and the steam, I did wish for more to happen at times and I did think there were some repetitive parts. But then when the story took a suspenseful turn closer to the end, that felt a bit off for me too. This is a four star read from me though because what I liked, I really liked, and I couldn't put this book down so I spent the afternoon engrossed in Ms. Frost's brand of romance (which does usually work for me).
This does standalone, but you do get more out of it having read even some of the other books in the series as those characters play large roles as side characters in this book. The story wraps up with a sweet HEA and an extended epilogue several years out that made me super happy and mushy. There are still some men left in the Hyde group and in the extended world too so more potential romances lingering out there!
Joss and Lars have a white hot intensity between them that set my kindle on fire. I loved every moment of their story. Their banter had me smiling and their chemistry had me turning the a/c down. This is the type of couple that pulls me in and captures my heart. I loved their fun banter with each other and the rest of the Hyde crew.
I haven’t read anything this delicious in a long time. This author gave me exactly what I wanted and more.
I felt so bad for Joss when we first meet her she's engaged been 6 years.. and they buy her dream home even if they can't afford it. And she catches so called Finance cheating with a stripper!! Im glad she didnt listen to his gaslighting and left him. Now she had to pick up the pieces and make sure she doesn't lose the house so 2 jobs a bakery and teacher. During her bakery job she catches the eye of Lars a giant grumpy hot as sin of a man who is Pinning for her but he doesn't know why at first why he can't ask her out until he hears she's "taken" or so he thinks until he finds out she is single when she went on a "fake date" (it was a friend from the Hyde place nothing between them) and he wasting all this time not going after what he wants now
These two go from slow friends/coworkers to super HOTTT!! Lars shows Joss what's it like being his when she comes working for him at the strip club no she's not stipping she's doing his books. Also even if he's a owner of a strip club HE HAS NEVER done anything with any of the woman. No manwhore here!! We also have some drama we have mysterious person casuing drama for the couple and h ex finance and some other drama for Lars with his bussiness. We also see past couples!!! 🥰🥰🥰 I miss Nox.
Ow/Om drama, cheating (not between the H/h), secondary characters, drama, sexy times, no virgins
Recommend-yes Cover-⭐️⭐️⭐️ Heat level-🌶🌶🌶.5
Slowinsta Pinning Violence Masturbation Edgying Mentions infertility No condom Tiny torture Praise kink Hea Epilogue
I loved getting back to the Hyde gang! I have missed all of these characters and I'm happy that we are getting another couple to add to the family.
Lars and Joss were so much fun to read about. I absolutely adored how intense Lars is for Joss. My favorite thing in a hero is when they are 100% into their heroines. Perfection!
Joss was such a cute heroine. She's a bit shy and when you get to know her, her snakiness was funny. Loved that. Her family was crazy and added some fun to the story.
All the guys? The Hyde gang. The bouncers at Wicked. Nox and his crew. Please Layla Frost, give us more! I need more of these fictional, bossy Alpha's in my life.
I didn't like this book as much as I did a couple others from this author, maybe because the beginning annoyed me so much. He likes her....she likes him.... Nobody says anything! Ugh anyways that's all I remember 😂
UGH Layla’s writing never EVER misses. I loved that there wasn’t a crazy annoying 3rd act conflict. This story was just a perfect blend of badass biker, sunshine kindergarten teacher and all the fun and sexy things in-between.
Praise? “That’s my good girl.” …Yes Wants to have her babies…? Yes Protective alpha that lets her fly her independent flag? Yes But also majorly sweet and obsessive with NO shame? Yes
Stop what you’re doing and READ THIS SERIES! Such a smooth, easy, lovable, sexy and charming series. This book did not disappoint.
Besotted Hero who is actually finding it difficult to make his first move on the heroine, for fear of being knocked back as he feels she's too good for him. Ex drama, her ex who cheated. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. No cheating or interest else where. Girl posse. HEA.

I did enjoy it but I have a few issues with this book.
I gotta admit that this story started off great and I really liked it. I liked the heroine, I loved the hero.
1. However, the synopsis promised me a sweet innocent teacher for a heroine, but what we got was not entirely accurate.
She wasn't that sweet, for sure. Plus, she sounded crude and kinda crass more often than not. She swore a lot and yet everyone kept telling her that she was sweet and innocent. And I kept scratching my head, wondering: bitch, where?
What's worse, she was a complete doormat when it comes to her bitchy, judgemental family, especially the sisters and the nosy mother. She kept running back for her Sunday dinners like a moron, ready for another batch of humiliation.
2. Another thing was the girl squad. They all just seemed kinda immature. They were nice, don't get me wrong, but they all seemed to be fixated only on men and the hot sex. And that's the only thing they all talked about throughout the story. And maybe that's just my boring ass speaking, but when you're a functional adult, don't you have any hobbies or interests that don't include the bedroom gymnastics?
3. The h and H got together waaaaay too fast. And once it happened, the only thing they did together was sexing. Not once did they go on a date or talked about anything that would make them get to know each other a bit more.
And yet, after a few weeks of shagging, the 'i love yous' were exchanged and the promise of a lifetime together.
Seriously, my relationship with a youghurt in my fridge lasts longer than this.
4. I expected more action. And I don't mean the bedroom action. Just the good ole suspense. That I was promised in the synopsis.
And I had to wait till the very end to get some.
Plus, why nobody noticed that the girl Sophie, or whatever her name was, was a nut job is just beyond me. They had all the signs! *smh
All in all, it was a good read and I did enjoy it. Well, for the most part. I did love the hero. But you see, the thing is that I need to love the heroine to really enjoy the romance and root for the characters.
And the heroine here was just not exactly my cuppa.
Hence the 2 missing stars.
But I think I will read another book from this series because the writing style was good.
I dunno if I should have rounded it up. These books all blend together. I do like Lars a lot tho. The clipped sentences got kinda too much. Maybe I'll read more... maybe not.
4.8 stars. Damn. This book was so stinkin cute. Lars is so protective and loving and thoughtful, it’s crazy. I absolutely Loved the communication and trust that both of these characters showed the other. It was completely perfect.
The sex was hot as all hell, with a huge praise kink thrown in. The plot was simple, with a dangerous subplot in the background to keep things interesting. Their relationship was so sweet and caring and possessive and just freakin perfect.
I loved every part of this. Plus that ending. So cute. I love a good time jump to show their love still going strong.
So good! Did I say so good? Let me say it again. Joss and Lars are great. The banter, the humor, the snark. Lars is so OTT,it makes your heart melt. It’s got steam, drama and suspense, it might even make you cry a little. Great to see lots of favorite characters. This was so worth the wait.
Lars knows he is not good enough for shy Joss Lennon but he is hooked and trying to figure out if she might be interested in him. When he finally gets what he is looking for he makes his move, he wants Joss and plans to keep her safely by his side.
Joss would like to think she did not waste the last few years on her ex-fiancée, but she did. She should have seen the signs but she was oblivious. Broken engagement left her with a house she loves but is above her pay grade. Working for Piper at her bakery is a blessing she loves her boss and the extra income helps but what she really enjoys is getting to see Lars every time she works. She doesn't let on how she feels but when Lars makes it known he is interested everything shifts. Can she trust Lars enough to give him her heart.
Amazing, read rapidly and now I need to go back and reread. Lars was fabulous and everything I was hoping he would be. I loved Joss, she has a spirit in her that comes out that has you smiling. Her family dynamic was intriguing as well. Another hit by this talented author.
I had a good time reading this! It kind of felt like an OTT insta-love novella, but a slightly toned-down, full-length version.
I love an ultra protective, possessive, all-in MMC, and Lars was just the right amount of everything. Joss was also a really likeable FMC - a sweet kindergarten teacher with some wild tendencies. Their chemistry was great, and the praise kink was 🥵🥵🥵.
I do wish the story was shorter though. I probably would have rated it higher without the entire third act drama.
I've been waiting for Lars book every since we first met him, and his book was definitely worth the wait. Wild Wicked Obsession has the hot super alpha with lots of intense steamy scenes. Joss is more reserved and quiet. She is a kindergarten teacher, works a second job in a bakery and is more on the quiet side for those who have gotten to know her. For those that get to know her, they see a fun, snarky and witty side to her. Lars is almost that gruff, quieter alpha hero who is incredibly protective, jealous and when he sets his sights on something...look out. The chemistry and heat between them nearly set the kindle on fire at some points. I loved everything about this story and how seamlessly Layla weaved in some of our favorite characters from previous books. She is adept at bringing them in naturally and really making the story come together. I loved that this was one of those books that had elements that were able to take me by surprise. Layla Frost has incredible talent and her books are pure joy to read.
This was a really entertaining read. Tbh I might go back and read the rest of the series. Was low relationship angst and just the right amount of cliché/over the top for me. Like the third act drama was so unrealistic but I ate it up (kidnapping obvi but with a twistttt). Lars and Joss were so cute together and I liked their crushes at the beginning.
•Slight age gap •Good girl/ bad boy •He’s obsessed •Touch her and you die…
“The semi-psycho men do it best. Obsessive love is where it’s at.”
Nothing could sum up this book better than that quote. I love all of Layla’s books. Her sense of humor aligns perfectly with mine and I always end up laughing out loud while reading her books. Her writing style is so easy to follow and allows you to get lost in the story (and man oh man did I get lost in this one). Now let’s talk about Lars and Joss. OMG! This the picture perfect example of what an “OOT alpha male and shy girl that he helps to come out of her shell” story should be. I love a grumpy badass who will tear the world apart for his woman and loves her with everything he is. Lars is just that. In the words of Joss: “He’s a cinnamon roll. A grumpy, dangerous, badass one, but still. A secret cinnamon roll.” Layla definitely outdid herself with this book and I think it’s my new favorite. From now on this will be the book I measure all other badass alpha romances by.
This is one of the best books I’ve read! It had me sucked in from page one and kept me interested and guessing through the entire book. I really think that Lar’s has surpassed my love for Nox. Okay, maybe they are even. Lol! But I absolutely loved Joss and Lars! They were fire together. I loved that Joss came into her own in this book. And you just have to love Lars even more so than in previous books. Seriously, get this book. You will not be disappointed. Now, who is next….Rhys, Key or Xavier???
So, I think I speak for everyone when I say that Layla Frost needs to open a Hyde Garage with a bakery attached, so we can first hand witness all the shenanigans. Oh, and consider this my verbal application, which is not a thing, but I am making it one, because obviously I want to be front and center for all the fun.
Joss is a kindergarten teacher that works part time for Piper when she finds out her ex is a cheating pos, and she needs the money to keep her dream house. This is where she develops her crush on our Lars, I can’t really blame her, and he also has a crush on her too. It’s kinda cute how they are tongue tied grown ups around each other. She always saves him his favorite cookies, and he always makes up reasons to see her…awweeeee, so cute. Lars finds out that she is good with accounting and hires her to straighten out his books from when his cousin pulled all his nonsense. That’s when quite a few things start to happen throughout the book, which leads to a fantastic and shocking twist, I’m not shocked often, but apparently Layla Frost is an author that can really pull that off….every time. I love this series so much, and actually went back to re-read it after I read this…so damn good.
Safe read, with a cute and super hot couple, that’s a little shy, and needs a slight push…thank you Key for your subtle match making skills. Got to see a lot of our sexy and funny favorites from the series, including my Nox. I will say, I was not a fan of her family, like at all. They just kept trying to get her back with the ex…the one she caught in the act of cheating on her…seriously wtaf. But it’s ok, I love the Hyde group, and obviously they made up for her family of self centered nitwits. A fantastic storyline with all wtaf’s you expect from a Layla Frost book, sweet epilogue, and a hea.
I have enjoyed this series, and the friendships these characters have, but I think Joss, and her sweet disposition is my favorite.
The addictive quality of the chapters had me finishing this story quickly. I loved the steamy chemistry between Lars and Joss, and the way the friendships supported everyone, when the drama and craziness took off.
I recommend reading this series in order for the best experience, and preferably in a binge, so you're immersed in their world. So good!
Looking forward to the next one from this talented and creative author.
Quickie review: 4 stars. This was really good! This is a sweet, sexy, safe and easy read. Low angst and deliciously long. I really liked Lars and Joss. They were a great couple with lots of chemistry. Lars worshipped Joss. I wasn't sure about a strip club owner H, but he was a good one and not sleazy at all. The side characters/ friend group were enjoyable too. This can be read as a standalone if needed. I think the books in this series are getting better as it goes on and Ms. Frost grows in her craft. I'm enjoying this series and look forward to more from it in the future!
