The Flipside

Rate this book
A setback can change the course of your life. But why should the change be a negative one? Challenges and obstacles are part of life, but while some wilt under pressure, others rise to the occasion. Could it be there is a method for overcoming adversity and turning failure into success? The flipside is the hidden opportunity inside each problem - an opportunity so powerful that it dwarfs the original difficulty. THE FLIPSIDE is full of life-affirming stories of well-known and not so well-known people from around the world. It will change the way you look at adversity, and help you turn setbacks into triumphs.

Adam did a great job of writing a very inspiring book about dealing with adversity and finding the hidden opportunities in adversity.

I particularly liked:
- the fact that he drew real-life stories from a wide range of different nationalities, rather than just the usual American stories.
- the way he pulls out the common themes in the ways that those people were thinking - ways of thinking that helped them to turn adversity into opportunity.

Chóng khỏe, rồi bớt suy nghĩ tiêu cực đi, ncl khá ổn trong time ấy ^^

Kind of motivating people, make people know how lucky they have. Others can be in a really bad circumstance but they still stand on and grow like normal people.

Generally a good read. But it is definitely not exactly a page-turner. If you are just looking around without any purpose, you might pick up a thing or two. But if you took this book into your hands with a purpose, then you will definitely find the flipside of your own life. I’d say this one is for those who already are on some sort of enlightenment journey. The NPCs will probably put it down after a few pages.

Whenever the chips are down and you need a pep talk, just browse through the couple of chapters of "Flipside". A real narrative of people who turned adversity into blessing and created success stories out of a "No-Hope" kind of situation. The book vividly describes about circumstances in which KFC was founded. Highly recommended for finding the bright side of any problem. The author makes you think about any problem as an opportunity/chance which is waiting to be explored/expolited

If you need to recover from a catastrophe, then turn to page 233, the first page of the Epilogue, for the questions which constitute the meat of the book.

Frankly, the rest of the book is well-written potatoes - that is, stories. So if you want true stories of hope and courage, the book will be right for you. I wasn't the right audience really.

There is always that magic which make things happen. This book describes on the same. The power of optimism is phenomenal and this book has stories of people whose lives have changed with being optimistic and opportunistic.

Maybe we are staring at brown's and ignoring our blues? (Should read the book to get this)

Thankfully not Pollyanna-ish, but constructive view to help when life slaps you one. If you do suffer some tragedy/problem, this is probably helpful in giving you a way to cope. It seems amazing that so many different people felt these awful occurrences were the best thing that happened to them.

Liked the book, especially the examples that the author gives to prove that life's worth living despite of any tragedies. The examples are inspiring and none drags too long. The flow makes you believe in the authors point. Thumbs up..!!

I would recommend this to those who are under hard circumstances in your life. By knowing that other human beings had been going through the same hardship, and successfully navigated out of it, we are tipped with more strength.

Read this book a long time ago but when read again, I'm still amazed like the first time. I love the way the author set very typical and vivid examples about how setbacks can become our own lucks.
If you're in trouble and need to see the light, come to this book.

A must read for all non-born-optimists

Well researched book, great real-life examples of finding the golden-nuggets in problems/challenges, of seeing the positive following traumatic accidents or disabilities, and of the value of having ones brain wired for optimism!

Best book to read in lifetime to know what is opportunity. And how fortunate we are to gain that and move our life with that with positive intent. And make ourself and others happy. To obtain satisfaction in life by our life and it's hidden opportunities.

Not sure I can check the "read" box, I could not go through all of it... Just stories after stories with the same takeaway each time. I definitely would not recommend it.
