Chris Croft's "Project Management QuickStart Guide" is a brilliant piece of writing and organization of a critical topic. Project Management doesn't have to be as complex as other manuals would make it. I hope that the plan is to publish this as an eBook, because the resources that one needs are easily available by the tap of a finger, and even the videos with come right up on your eBook reader screen. The templates can be downloaded and printed out.

I began reading this book out of general interest, and then partway through, I realized that the described Gantt chart was just what I needed to redo my blog "The Halleson Post." (Start out by charting your project with Post-it Notes, and finish it by using Microsoft's Excel to create a Critical Path that can be monitored every step of the way.)

Chris Croft doesn't leave anything out including how to use Excel. I won't need everything in this handbook, but I can use most of it. To see my progress, please check in to http://halleson.net/ from time to time and leave a comment. I loved reading this book. It is engaging, cleverly done, and sometimes funny. Chris Croft is a gem!

The textbook stile could make it seem intimidating, however I found it to be a very easy, well written and extremely informative read. If you have interest in understanding the general rules and some basic terminology of project management, you'll enjoy this book

I’ve always enjoyed Chris Croft’s training courses on LinkedIn Learning, so I was excited to learn he was publishing a book. I enjoyed this book for the same reasons I’ve enjoyed his training videos: his ability to sort through different frameworks and principles, delivering only the most relevant information and explaining them using straightforward, easy-to-understand examples.

This book is an ideal “field guide” for new project managers. It doesn’t seek to be exhaustive but rather to deliver the most useful information to readers who need on-the-job or just-in-time training. In addition to the concise but thorough content, the organization of the book was effective as well. It was helpful to start by seeing how an ideal project management plan comes together, and then learning about the methods to adjust the plan for reality. I also liked the way one of the later chapters was framed in terms of mistakes—knowing what not to do (and how to avoid it!) can be just as useful as knowing what you should do.

I’d recommend this book to early-career project managers or to someone who isn’t formally a project manager but has a job with project management responsibilities. It would also be useful for someone who is thinking of a career related to project management and is trying to get a sense of what that entails. Seasoned project managers could also find this book a useful resource when they need to brush up on details.

I won a Kindle version of this book in a Goodreads giveaway. My thanks for that to the author. Chris Croft is really good at explaining how to do project management. This book is a great resource for anybody interested in how to better oneself in this field. I liked the quotes and the interactive links to Chris’s videos.

Got my copy last week and it's like reading the whole PMBOK (again) but more to the point and fun to read!. A must-have for current and future reads, even if you are not working in a Project Management role.

Wished I had this book in my years at College. Always nice to read Mr. Croft's books.
