CMH Pub 73-4. U.S. Army Campaigns of the Mexican War. Prepared by Stephen A. Carney. Discusses the Battle of Buena Vista which occurred during the Mexican-American War in 1847.
An excellent short book that is best taken along with the other volumes in this series covering the US-Mexico war. This is a clear no nonsense military history and Buena Vista is one of the most exciting parts of the overall history.
This short history of the battle provides a solid background of the US-Mexican War, the opposing armies, and their commanders, before covering the events of the battle in moderate detail. The analysis section at the end is particularly helpful.
The book has a number of print errors the letter l missing from many words throughout the book. Often on a page the print problem has created double or triple spaced words just one or two a line sometimes just letters. This makes the book effectively unreadable. There are a number of other issues all of which combined means that it either wasn't proof read or the producer was happy to sell a sub standard text. No stars for this
