Bear Grylls has become known around the world as one of the most recognized faces of survival and outdoor adventure. His journey to this acclaim started in the UK on the Isle of Wight, where his late father taught him to climb and sail. Trained from a young age in martial arts, Bear went on to spend three years as a soldier in the British Special Forces, serving with 21 SAS. It was here that he perfected many of the skills that his fans all over the world enjoy watching him pit against mother-nature. Despite a free-fall parachuting accident in Africa, where he broke his back in three places, and after enduring months in military rehabilitation, Bear went on to become one of the youngest ever climbers to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Bear went on to star in Discovery Channel's Emmy nominated Man Vs Wild and Born Survivor TV series, which has become one of the most watched shows on the planet. Off screen, Bear has lead record-breaking expeditions, from Antarctica to the Arctic, which in turn have raised over £2.5million for children around the world. In recognition of his expertise and service, Bear was appointed as the youngest ever Chief Scout to 28 million Scouts worldwide, awarded an honorary commission as a Lieutenant-Commander in the Royal Navy, and has authored 10 books, including To My Sons.

This almost was a 5 star for me but a few gripes I have brought it to 4. Firstly the cover, title are very missleading. Gives off the impression the crew are hunted by a wolf after crashing in the wilderness. In fact the plot on the back cover even says can they survive a stalking wolf. There is little to no involvement of the wolf. Some very very minor stalking. Also I thought the story was longer then It needed to be given what it is and that it's aimed at a younger audience. I'm an adult and a fast reader and it still took me a few hours per night over a few nights.

Otherwise I did really enjoy the book. Kids crash in the artic and track through the wilderness encountering real life dangers and situations. This book could even be considered learning as it correctly explains how to build shelters, and survive certain situations. This is the second in the series and I enjoyed it enough to be interested to go back and start at book 1 and will check out the rest in the series. I would still recommend the book. I've always enjoyed and had interest in Bear grylls so this was a must check out.

Way of the Wolf (Mission Survival #2) by Bear Grylls Way of the Wolf (Mission Survival #2).Way of the Wolf by Bear Grylls is a fiction and non-fiction novel written about survival in Alaska. I chose to read this book as the cover of the book was eye catching and the title did not give away a lot of information. the book is about two boys called Beck and Tikaani who survive a fatal plane crash killing the pilot and seriously injuring Beck's uncle, Al. Trapped in the wilds of Alaska Beck and Tikaani must use a first aid kit from the plane, a global positioning system with low battery and their survival skills to find help to rescue Al. The are confronted with treacherous weather, hungry wolves and becoming lost in the snow. Beck and Tikaani could come over frostbite and hypothermia from falling into a frozen lake but Beck's survival skills keep them safe throughout the entire novel. Beck and Tikaani reach a small town in Alaska called Anakat and receive help and aid to Al. The main characters in the novel are Beck, Tikaani and Al.there were not any conflicts between characters and i did not feel sympathy towards any characters. Bear Grylls provides a message of intelligence will beat strength. I enjoyed this book and read another book by the same author as the books are informative. to sum up the book in one sentence it would be: an informative and fun way of learning how to survive in Alaska.

O części można by powiedzieć tylko tyle że była nudniejsza od pierwszej i to w sumie by wystarczyło żeby za argumentować 3/5 gwiazdek.

Wyraźnie słabsza fabularnie i zdecydowanie mniej akcji niż w "Złocie Bogów".

I have waited 2 YEARS to read this book! Yes. 2 YEARS of agony. I would have read it as soon as I finished the first book, but since it's only available in the UK, I wasn't able to. After reading the first book to this series ("GOLD OF THE GODS") I was hooked on Bear Grylls' "Mission Survival" series. I loved this book, and I think it was better than the first, even though I still loved the first! I hope to own all of the books in this series, and to also read them all. I would recommend this series to anyone who loves Bear Grylls or survival books. I will be reading these books over and over. The story is great. The characters are great. The survival tips are great. And the author being the one and only Bear Grylls is a bonus!

This book is about a 14-year-old boy called Beck Granger. Him, his uncle Al, and his friend Tikaani are travelling over the Alaskan wilderness when the plane crashes. The pilot dies. Al is too injured to travel, so Beck and Tikaani have to travel to Anchorage, a major city in Alaska, to get help for his uncle. My favourite part is where they try to crawl across a pond frozen over, but then Tikaani falls. in. Beck is my favourite character because he knows a lot about surviving in the wild. I learned that snow is a really good insulator, so if you tunnel under it, it can actually be pretty warm.

Read with 8 year old son. Interesting story and we learned new things about how to survive in Alaskan wilds. A little improbable that a 13 year old boy knows all the he does, but don’t let that spoil good story!

With the popular show on television, Man Vs Wild, this book of Bear Grylls caught my attention in a library. Way of the Wolf has little to do with wolves but the meaning of the title becomes clear at the end (which i don't want to reveal ! ;)) Bear Grylls develops his adventure using two kids, Beck and Tikaani, and placing them on the Alaskan wilderness. How will they survive? Well sure enough Grylls pens down all his interesting knowledge on survival midst the snow.
Although in the middle of the story you'll feel like giving up, the end bits are worth it.

Although this is supposed to be a teen book, I (an adult) quite enjoyed it. The story was well written and interesting. I really enjoy Bear's show Worst Case Scenario, which is what inspired me to buy this book. There are some fantastic survival tips in the book. And because they are integrated as part of the story, kids and adults are more likely to remember them - and the reasoning behind them. You never know... one of them just might save your life one day! I highly recommend this book, and I'm looking forward to reading more of the series.

Bear Grylls mission survival way of the wolf is a great book. Beck his friend and and his uncle are stuck in Alaska and his uncle is badly injured and the Radio is down so Beck and his friend have to travel through the snow storms and across frozen lakes to find help but that's not all there is something waiting in the woods for them. Will it attack or level beck and his friend alive. I give this book a 10 out of 10 there were lots of exiting moments where the characters could have died.

It was an enjoyable and fun book. I recognised some of the survival tricks from Bear's TV show "Man Vs. Wild" which was fun. Also love the survival Tarp tips at the end of the book. Sad there wasn't more interactions with Wolves, it would have been interesting. All in all, an adventurous & fun read.

Fun and exciting, like the first book, but I like it more for having life-or-death situations more frequently. The casual language made it more appealing. It is maybe a more boyish book but girls and teens would enjoy it too.
