People note black-and-white photographs of the American wilderness of American photographer Ansel Easton Adams.

Though wilderness and the environment were his grand passions, photography was his calling, his metier, his raison d'etre.

His letters are as clear and distinctive as his photographs. I wish people in this technological world could converse and express their feelings as succinctly and passionately as Ansel Adams could. I'm far from finished with this wonderful collection, who wants to eat the whole bowl of frosting at once? Its better to be savored one slice at a time. I don't want to wind up with a severe bellyache from too much of a good thing all in one sitting.

This book has both photographs taken by Ansel Adams and letters Ansel Adams had written and received over the years. Interesting book. He is not the greatest letter writer or speller, but he embraced the art of letter writing. I wish more wrote letters. I try.
