The pandemic of fear continues to grip our world long past the clinical effects of COVID-19. Many people cannot let go of the fear fueling the Mass Delusional Psychosis which has plagued millions since early 2020. In his latest book, Freedom from Fear, Dr. Mark McDonald applies his well-honed psychiatric acuity to the undiagnosed epidemic of fear addiction. Just like a drug, fear becomes an unhealthy mental and emotional dependency that must be broken. In Freedom from Fear, Dr. McDonald presents the essential twelve-step guide to personal and worldwide recovery. His precepts include simple but practical steps like “Face the Mirror,” “Don’t be a Sheep,” “Choose Reality,” “Reject Narcissism,” “Think for Yourself,” “Embrace Adulthood,” “Pay Attention,” and “Embrace Fearless Leadership.” Bold and straightforward, Dr. McDonald once again draws on his experience as a psychiatrist and physician to diagnose this worldwide affliction. In this companion book to United States of Fear, he prescribes the consummate treatment plan for eradicating this Mass Delusional Psychosis once and for all.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Mark McDonald graduated from UC Berkeley before attending medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Trained in both adult and child and adolescent psychiatry at UCLA, he now works primarily with children in private practice in west Los Angeles. Dr. McDonald has lived and worked in Europe, Asia, and Central America. His opinions on topics such as the need to re- open America’s schools, and the pandemic of fear in the United States today, have been widely published in local and national news, including the Wall Street Journal and The Federalist.
"We are all afraid of something. We all suffer fear--rational or not...Fear is part of the human condition. There is no way to eliminate fear, nor would we want to. Fear provides information about potential risks we might consider avoiding...it is not fear that needs to be conquered. It is the control and harm that fear addiction causes that must be faced honestly, if we are to take back our lives." pg. 23
What in the Ben Shapiro, boomer Facebook rant was that??? This quack bullies his patients and shouldn’t have a medical license!!!
Unintentionally the funniest book I’ve ever read! Call me a curious sheep ;) and after all that nonsense, I still don’t think it should be censored. Everyone should have an opportunity to read this trash.
One star because he refers to masks as face diapers and that made me chuckle. Also one star because I can’t give it zero. 💋
I accidentally read this book while searching for the book of the same title from Aung San Suu Kyi. I kept on reading just to diversify the perspectives I read, and it was interesting to see the contrarian thoughts on the mask-wearing policies of the Covid pandemic. It's a book that was as selectively taken & unscientific as the policies it criticized, but it was surprisingly consistent in a lot of the argument - and led me to better understand the thought process of others. I liked the initial foundations of the book (on how the current society was fear-driven) and wish the book tried to deliver a more rigorous perspective on the society than a one-man crusade on an anti-mask obsession.
I greatly enjoyed reading Dr. Mark McDonald’s previous book, United States of Fear, so I was eager to read this when released. As an individual who fought tooth and nail to retain the freedom of myself and family during the Covid hysteria, I have been fascinated to learn more about the effects of fear and the reasoning behind people’s reactions during this time. Dr. McDonald writes a brilliant and thought-provoking guide by going to the root cause (fear) and exploring how we can break this bondage of the sources in which perpetuate this never-ending chaos. It’s a practical approach sprinkled throughout with well-constructed brief narratives of prototypical vignettes. A page-turner and an easy read, this guide is a must for those like me who are riddled with curiosity and those who want to “break the addiction of fear and resume life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
