All I want is a second chance. There’s never been anyone for me but Lissy. On the night I’d planned to propose, tragedy struck my family and I sort of went off the deep end. Very deep. I wasn’t fit to be with someone like her. It broke her heart. Mine too. Now six years have passed. When I learn Lissy has been keeping a secret from me, I have to find her. And my daughter. I’ll prove that I’m not the a$$hole I was when we broke up. Prove I can be the man she needs and the daddy my daughter deserves. It’s a tall order. But I’ll do it. Or die trying.
USA Today bestselling author Celeste Jones is known for writing highly entertaining erotic romance featuring headstrong heroines and stern yet loving heroes who aren't afraid to take a naughty woman over their knees. When she's not writing, she enjoys travel, reading and dancing like no one is watching.
The story is the second book in the Montana Billionaires series and involves high school sweethearts that will reconnect six years later. This time, it isn’t just the two of them, there is a child, Willow. The story is about Deacon Starr and Melissa ‘Lissy” Brown.
I loved the story and I will say that Willow is the star of it. You can’t help but love the little girl. She is the best of both her parents and has so much of each of the personalities. Willow isn’t the Disney Princess little girl, she is more into construction equipment and her favorite book is Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel.
Lissy and Deacon were childhood sweethearts that a family tragedy affected. With the death of Deacon’s parents and youngest brother, he spiraled out of control, and Lissy couldn’t handle it. She will break up with him, and leave. It isn’t until after she is gone that she discovers she is pregnant with his child. For the past several years, she has been managing and giving Willow the best life she can. Lissy is also a social worker, managing Hope House, which has eleven foster children.
The story’s plot will bring Lissy and Deacon back together, but a fluke. Once Deacon discovers he is a father, that Lissy is the mother, and the child is a daughter, Willow, he must find them and try and make a family. It won’t be easy, the past has pain, but he is determined to win Lissy back over and give her and Willow his love and a future. Things are never as easy as one hopes. I enjoyed the chemistry between Deacon and Willow—in fact, it has never died. Now Willow adds so much to the unit. How far will Deacon and the Starr family go to show Lissy that she is special to them? Will Deacon, Lissy, and Willow find their North Star?
While the story is the second in the series, it could read well as a stand-alone, but why not read the first book too. The Starr children and the love they find are well worth the read. I look forward to the next story in the series. Caleb’s story will happen in December 2022.
This story had me hooked from the first chapter. I didn’t put it down until I finished it so plan ahead :). Second book of the Montana Billionaire Series. An enjoyable read with a little bit of everything, humor, forgiveness, emotion, lots and lots of steam, along with family/sibling drama. A HEA that can be read as a stand alone but like me you will want to read the rest of the siblings adventures in love.

Celeste Jones has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Lissy and Deacon. Lissy and Deacon had been a couple until he gets news that sends him into a tailspin. He is told that his mother, father, and brother Eddie have been killed in a car accident coming home from Ponderosa Pass. Lissy leaves Deacon when he starts acting out and becoming unreliable. She needs someone that she can trust and who will be there for her when she needs them. Deacon and his brothers and sister own North Star Ranch in Chickadee Ridge and women are always trying to get some money out of Deacon one way or another. Deacon and Adam go to see the ranch lawyer over a DNA test to see if Deacon is the father of Lori's baby. He finds out that he is not the baby's father but that he is a father to a little girl. Her name is Willow and her mother is Lissy and they live in Ponderosa Pass. Lissy is the director of the Hope House group home and she cares for 11 children. She had gotten one of the ranches in the area to host a kids camp and her kids are to be going the following week. She gets a call and is told that their time at the camp has been canceled because a group was coming in that was paying full price for the week. Now she has to tell them that their camping trip was canceled. Deacon is sitting in his car and waiting for Lissy to come home so that he can see his daughter. Things happen and he meets Willow and Lissy at the park. Lissy knows that she and Deacon need to talk. She invites him back to her house. Deacon wants to win back Lissy but she is holding back because she doesn't trust him not to leave again. As they are talking, she tells him about the camp and what happened with the director calling to cancel their week. Deacon comes up with an idea and he needs to talk to his brothers and sister to make it happen. Deacon gets his family to back him with the plan to bring the kids to their ranch for the week. Deacon has proved to Lissy that what he has told her is true and he wants her and Willow to be his family. Lissy is not sure how they are going to do this since she lives in another town and she is happy with her job with Hope House. She tells him that the kids need her. Deacon tells her that they will work things out. Roger, the ranch mechanic has asked Deacon if he could get the bus back to the ranch on Thursday morning so that he could do some work on it. Deacon said that he would see what he could do and told Roger to order whatever parts he needs. It is the day before Lissy and the kids leave and Roger tells Deacon that one of the parts won't be in until the next morning and asked if they could stay until later in the day. The time has come for them to leave and no one wants to but Lissy gets everyone on the bus and they head back to Hope House. Something happens to the bus that causes it to go have an accident and go down a ravine. Lissy checks on the kids first to see if anyone is hurt and then checks on the driver. James, one of the kids who grew close to Deacon calls him and tells him about the accident. Before he can tell Deacon where they are, James loses his cell single. Deacon gets dressed and goes and tells his brothers what happened. They all go out looking for the bus. When they get to where the bus is, there is a police officer there and when Deacon and his brothers start putting on rescue gear, the officer tells them they have to wait for the rescue team. Deacon punches some numbers in on his phone and hands it to the officer and he and Adam start going down the side of the ravine to get to Lissy and the kids. Adam gets one of the other kids and starts back up and Deacon goes over to Lissy and Willow. He gets Willow ready to go and tells Lissy he will come back for her. Deacon and his family get everyone up and when he gets Lissy up to the top, his brother Caleb grabs Lissy and pulls her over the top. Just before Deacon gets to the top, his rope snaps and he falls down into the ravine. Lissy screams when she sees this happen. When she sees him move a little she feels a little better but is still worried. The rescue workers go after Deacon and bring him up. Deacon passed out when he gets into the ambulance and woke up in the hospital. Lissy has realized that her place is with Deacon no matter what. Good things happened over the accident and it was on the news. This caused the kids at Hope House to get adopted. The only one who stayed with Lissy is James. Will things work out for Lissy and Deacon? This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

This is the first story I have read by Celeste Jones. I am glad that I decided to take a chance and volunteered to leave a honest review of an ARC through Booksprout. Fortunately for me, I was also able to read it through Amazon’s KU program. It gave me an opportunity to verify formatting in the event anything changed before being published.
This can absolutely be read as a stand-alone, since I haven’t read any others in the series. There is no current cheating, no cliffhangers and a HFN / HEA.
⛔️ The following may contain spoilers if you have not read the story, although I will try not to. There are also a couple of scenes and/or references that may be difficult for sensitive readers. These include adult language, semi-steamy intimate scenes, and violence such as child neglect, child abandonment, alcoholism, drug use / dependency, and any other acts that could cause a child to become embroiled in the foster system.
It has been a while since I have read a second chance, secret baby, contemporary romance. The plot and pace of this is good and I just wanted to hug some children as I read through it. The story universe is solid and would probably have been even better for me if I had read the first story in the series before beginning this one. There are a couple of twists, but I was able to see them coming well ahead of time, so no surprises.
There are some grammatical issues throughout the story, but nothing that was difficult to interpret. These were primarily incorrect word tenses, incorrect punctuation, missing words and extra inserted words. I uploaded my comments to goodreads for anyone interested. I mention these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.
Here is a little bit about the story:
Deacon has been getting his life back in order after it went off the rails 6 years ago with the death of his mother, father and baby brother in an accident. This is unfortunately not the first time a woman has tried to claim that their child was his … not even the second. So Deacon and his two brothers are in town at their lawyers office to find out the results of the DNA tests.
To say the results are interesting is a vast understatement. Shocking? Life changing? Shocking? Did I mention shocking? The woman who sued him for child support is out of luck … but the lawyer wanted to be forewarned and prepared if there could be others coming forward … and there is one.
Melissa, aka Lissy, is a social worker over a group home for foster kids. She spent time in the foster care system and is determined to do everything she can to make their lives better. That is why she is so excited that her ‘kids’ were going to spend the next week at summer camp. She was actually able to negotiate a rate they could afford with their small budget. Everyone is excited. The kids because they get to go some place new and the counselors because they are going to be on vacation. It’s a great Friday!
Deacon is not sure exactly what he is doing. He just knew that he had to see his daughter. So he rented a car and drove to the address given to him through the investigator’s report. He is going to have to wait awhile, but that is fine. He isn’t leaving and taking a chance at missing her. Then a car pulls up …
When Lissy gets home, Willow, her 5 year old daughter, wants to go to the park. They have a new dozier, or something that moves dirt. No dolls for her, no she loves anything mechanical. When they get there, Willow heads right to the sand. She stays there until another older kid came and pushed her out of the seat.
Deacon followed Lissy and Willow to the park. He got a water and an ice cream then just watched her while he ate. When the much bigger boy went over and pushed his daughter out of the seat, he almost came unglued. Then she got up and shoved him back. Deacon was so proud until he did it again. He went to pick her up and make sure Willow was alright.
He wasn’t prepared for Lizzy … who jumped on his back, tried to gouge out his eyes, and reorganize his looks. Or, the rest of the women who ‘helped’ subdue him, even his daughter hit him in the side with her plastic dump truck. Finally he was able to get Lizzy to calm enough to recognize him … then she landed a solid knee right in his family jewels … thankfully they already had one child …
Six years ago, a family tragedy led Deacon to run wild and act out his tumultuous emotions. Unfortunately, his actions pushed away the girl he had hoped to marry, Lissy. Since then, Deacon has not exactly been celibate. He dodges one paternity claim only to find out that he is indeed a daddy. He has a five year old daughter with the woman he can’t forget. Turning up at Lissy’s home and then following her and their daughter to the park wasn’t too smart on his part, especially when he makes another stupid move that brings out Lissy’s “Momma Bear”. Deacon is a tough and rather unstoppable force of nature. He goes after what he wants hard and fast, and uses the family wealth to smooth his way. He has a good heart, but has little impulse control. He is going to have rein in those impulses, learn to slow down and give over some of the control if he wants to win Lissy’s heart again. The stakes have never been higher. He could lose Lissy all over again, but he could also lose his newly found daughter too. Deacon is given the chance to show Lissy he has matured and become someone she can be proud of when the summer camp she planned for the foster kids she cares for falls through. He persuades her, and his family, that the kids can have a great camp experience at his family’s ranch. What could go wrong?
Lissy, unfortunately, is used to doing things on her own and having to make her own way in life. She was a foster kid when she met and fell in love with Deacon and then his family years ago. She had really thought that they would get married and build a future together, but then Deacon showed her she really can’t trust her heart with him. Unable to stay and be near him, she left him and the family she a had grown to love behind to start anew. She never told Deacon she was pregnant, and she has made a good life for her daughter, Willow, and herself. His sudden appearance threatens her heart all over again, but this time she also has to consider what is best for the daughter she adores. Can she trust Deacon not to hurt her or Willow? What about her career as a social worker? Building a future with him will mean big decisions and compromises have to be made. Can they really have a happily ever after?

Deacon went to his attorney's office to learn the results of a DNA paternity test he taken, because a young woman was claiming, he was the father of her child. He turned out not to be the father of the child, but when they checked him against another data base. They did find a match. He has a five year old daughter with his ex-girlfriend, Lissy that broke up with him shortly after the death of his parents and youngest brother in an accident. Everyone's life derailed during that time especially Deacon's. Lissy put up with him as long as she could, then she left town never looking back. The same day Deacon learned of his daughter, Willow, he went to Lissy's home to wait nearby for them to get home. He could not wait to see Lissy again as he had never forgotten her, and he wanted to see his daughter. He wanted them both in his life. He just needed to figure out how to get it all to work. Lissy grew up in the foster care system, but she had been around the Starr Family during high school so she knew how they lived. She still loved Deacon, but she had been on her own for six years. She had grown into a strong independent woman with only herself to depend on. She had more this time around to think about than herself so Deacon had found her and said he loved her and wanted her back with Willow, but would she be able to depend on him? How would they make it work with ranch two hours away from her job? A beautifully written story of couple given a second chance at love and in the process give some foster children a wonderful time. The ending was OMG action packed edge of chair stuff. Wow!.

I enjoyed the first book in the ‘Montana Billionaires’ series by Celeste Jones so much that I was wondering if the second book could possibly live up to the first. Then I saw it was a second chance romance, which admittedly is not one of my favorite tropes. Shame on me for doubting this author even for a second! “Deacon” pulled me in, tangled me up in all kinds of emotions, and left me with a wonderful book hangover. You do not need to have read the first book in this series in order to enjoy this one, but if you haven’t, I highly recommend it.
Deacon and Lissy were high school sweethearts with a bright future unfolding in front of them when a horrific tragedy derailed everything. By the time Deacon starts to get his act together again, Lissy has moved away, and he’s sure she’s moved on. Did I mention this is a secret baby romance as well? It is, and it makes everything get even more intense. When Deacon finds out about Willow, the adorable secret Lissy has kept from him, his reaction is one that melted my heart.
Both lead characters were excellent, even though at different times each made me want to reach into the book and shake them. I thought the emotional journey they each experienced was simultaneously sad and satisfying. The main characters from the first book appear briefly in this one and they, along with other secondary characters, round out the story. Deacon, Lissy, (and Willow), deserve a joyous conclusion and the author does a great job giving it to them.

Deacon book two of the Montana Billionaires series. This is an amazing story! One of the stories that takes you all up and down the emotions scale, I believe I experienced every single emotion possible reading this. This is a first read for me with this author but let me say it definitely won’t be the last. She drew me in from the first word and kept me enthralled to the very end with each chapter drawing me deeper into the lives of the characters. Deacon and Lissy were high school sweethearts that everyone just knew were the real deal until a tragedy nearly destroyed Deacon when an accident took the lives of his mother, father and youngest brother. Deacon lost his way resulting in him and Lissy being apart for six years. Deacon has discovered that Lissy had a baby, his baby, he knows without a doubt he never stopped loving Lissy, now he has a beautiful little daughter to love and take care of also. Can Deacon prove to Lissy that he is trustworthy and follow through and do what he says he will do? Can he convince Lissy that her and Willow are the most important to him above everything? I highly recommend this book. This is a wonderful addition to my reading library. You won’t be disappointed. I’m looking forward to book three. I received an Advance Reader's Copy and am voluntarily leaving my honest thoughts and opinions.
Deacon was a mess six years ago when Lissy walked away from him. She needed someone more dependable, and he was out of control after losing his parents and brother in an accident. When Deacon finds out he has a daughter out there, he goes looking for her and Lissy, and finds a woman very changed from the one he remembers. She works with foster children, and when their summer camp plans fall through, Deacon comes up with an idea on his family's ranch. If it all comes together, Lissy may once again be his future.
We all know the HEA is waiting for us, but Celeste Jones is so skilled at getting us there. Lissy and Deacon have angst overcome by love, and the foster children in her care have their own HEA. Beautifully written, this book is even better than the first one in the series. It can be read as a standalone, but reading them in order makes for a better experience. I highly recommend this one as not to be missed.

This is the second book in the Montana Billionaires series. You can read it as a standalone but it is connected to the first book. Deacon went of the rails after the accident that killed his parents and younger brother. Lissy tried to be there for him but his constant drinking and disappearing for days on end took a toll on their relationship. She broke up with Deacon and left Chickadee Ridge. Six years later Deacon finds out he has a child he doesn’t know about with the only woman he's ever loved. Can he convince her he's changed? Steamy, emotional second chance romance. Deacon and Lissy have a lot to work through about their relationship, old hurts and how to make things work. Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Deacon and Lissy were always meant to be. A tragedy in his family made him spiral when they were young adults so she walked away. Years later, he returns to her, hoping to be with his newfound daughter and his lost love. Deacon and little Willow readily accepted his "daddy" status, while Lissy cautiously learned to trust him again. She has always loved him, but he needed to prove he was better than when she left. This was such a great story. The goal of the story might be the romance, but there is such a feeling of warmth I got from reading about the Hope House kids and the Starr Ranch and its surrounding community. It was wonderful the way everyone supported the last-minute campout. Tear-jerking moments aplenty.

In the book Deacon, the main character fell apart after a family disaster. Because he was truly out of control Lissy left him. She needed someone more dependable, and he was wild after losing his parents and brother in an accident. Years later Deacon comes across Lissy and finds out he has a daughter. He seeks out Lissy, and finds a woman very changed from the one he remembers. She works with a large group of foster children. There is a great deal of angst in this book and of course love and some misunderstandings. I enjoyed these two characters and the emotional upheavals they experienced. This is the second book in the series and although they are each a standalone, I think you will enjoy the book more if you read them in order. I must admit I liked this book better than the first one in the series.
Deacon and Lissy were a teen couple and very in love until Deacon went off the deep end with the death of his parents and younger brother. he was unreliable and Lissy had to protect her unborn child. Six years later Deacon finds out he has a child and goes to find her. There he finds Lizzy, the women he still loves, and their daughter Willow. Now, how can he make Lissy see that he is the man she fell involve with and will be a solid and loving father and husband. The book is full of sizzle, steam, some drama, twists, and a few turns. Great characters, great paced read, a solid 4 stars. Available on Kindle Unlimited.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Deacon once thought that Lissy was his future. She loved him and believed in him. Tragedy created a wedge between them that couldn't be fixed. Lissy had no choice but to pick up the pieces and carry on with only one thing left from that part of her life. It turns out to be the most important addition to her world. Deacon has learned exactly what he gave up and lost. He has a chance to make things right and turn them back in the direction they once were headed. This was an emotional second chance for them. Really good story.

Lissy and Deacon never stopped loving each other; they just couldn't make it work. Now they're finally getting around to a second chance. And he's really trying hard, bless his heart, but he just keeps stepping in it. It was almost comical, except I just knew that he was serious about her, and he seemed like a good guy who's truly grown up. Lissy is an amazing social worker, and an even more amazing mother, and she has a great sense of humor. It was a crazy journey for them, but so wonderful to see them find their way back to each other. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the 2nd book in this series, and this is Deacon and Lizzy’s journey. These two were torn apart by a family tragedy, and now 6-years later, Deacon is determined to find Lizzie and his daughter. Lizzie is not the same woman she used to be, and she works with foster children now. Will these two be able to have a second chance at love? This is a well written story which has secrets, angst, misunderstandings, tragedy, challenges, emotions, family, trusts, romance, and love, which leads to an addictive page turner. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the second book in the series. You do not need to read the first book, but, as I always say, it helps. Deacon and Lissy are getting their second chance. Deacon needs to do some growing, but when he finds out he has a daughter, Willow, he is all in. Of course, Deacon and Lissy have never stopped loving each other and they want to work things out.
I enjoyed the story, it's just a feel good book. And, so sweet. I'm looking forward to the next two books in the series. I need Caleb and Boone's stories.
I've read several books written by Celeste Jones; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the second book in the Montana Billionaires Series; it is a stand-alone book. The story is about Lizzy & Deacon; they were together six years ago but when his parents and brother get killed he goes off the deep end, breaks up with her and takes off. Now he’s found out that she’s kept a secret from him; they have a daughter.

The story was a familiar trope and I liked Lissy and her daughter. Where I ran into trouble was with Deacon. He just seemed so inconsistent. From one moment to the next, he was strong and determined to get his family back and the next, he was flip flopping about whether he should be with her or if she wanted him.I loved the ending and so am giving this story 4 stars.

The second book in the Montana Billionaires series. Six years ago Deacon lost his Mom, Dad and his younger brother in an accident, at the same time because of his actions he lost Lissy the woman he wanted to marry. He is back now and there is a surprise waiting for him, he has a daughter Willow who he did not know about. I enjoyed seeing them get a second chance at a happy ending. This is a great story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. The storyline is great and main characters are good. It is captivating, well written and entertaining. This story is about Deacon and Lissy’s second chance at love and a family. There's rekindling love and passion, the forgiveness, drama, suspense and emotions to keep you captivated. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

I thought Deacon and Lissy were cute together, and their daughter Willow is a sweetheart. Second chance romance tropes are also one of my favorite. I enjoyed this family's story, and the last part of the book was harrowing and kept me on my edge. Nothing scary, and it still had a HEA. Overall, a satisfying read.

This was my first book by this author and won’t be my last.
I loved Deacon, Lissy and cute Willow. I love a good second chance romance and this one did not disappoint. There were so many emotions in one book. Heartbreak, misunderstandings but nothing stops Deacon from being determined to get them back in his life. Loved their connection and can’t wait to go back and read the first book in this series now.
I liked this book. It puts some light on foster kids' lives and their struggles. It includes a happy ending for them though it was so good to be true. The romance and the love scenes are, as usual, well written. All in all, enjoyable read.

This is a really great story. Deacon lost his way when he lost his parents and youngest brother, but when he has a chance to have what he never knew he lost he will show Lissy all he has to offer to enhance her life. Falling in love for the second time, danger and trust issues brings the characters to life.

This is a really great second-chance romance! Deacon and Lissy were once together, but split up when family tragedy caused Deacon to tailspin. He stopped being someone Lissy could count on in many ways, which caused their relationship to end. Six years later, Deacon is floored when he learns he has a daughter... with Lissy. This was a really good book.
The brothers of The North Star Ranch , this is Deacon and Lissy story but really it was a Willow who stole my heart. Such a little whirlwind. Lissy job had great impact on whole storyline, too. Great second romance, love this series.

Deacon left Lissy behind 6 years ago and when he comes back home, it's to a surprise he never knew about. I enjoyed watching these two characters try and work things out in their relationship. The writing kept me fully engaged and the ending what just what I was looking for!!! Great story
I loved this book. Deacon and Lissy had a past together. There had been no contact for the last 6 years but now Deaco. Has a reason to get in contact. Emotional, sweet and such a good read. Recommended.
