June Hale has everything under control, thank you very much.
His anxiety: coping mechanisms. His wardrobe: fabulous. His love life... as a demisexual, it’s complicated because when he’s working on his final college project, he stumbles into the eternally buff arms of a very handsome, but alas, very dead, ghost. Devon Thane has haunted Squire’s Castle for over a century without knowing why he’s doomed to purgatory; he can’t remember how he died. He’s accepted he’ll never learn the truth, until he reaches for the beautiful boy falling through a window and catches him--coming to life, as long as they’re touching.
Wanting to explore the supernatural chemistry blossoming between them, June guides Devon into the present world. All appears to be well until Devon’s past is revealed, putting their new relationship through tests of time, trust, and devotion.
I know this one is good but somehow it’s triggering my anxiety. The representation seems so real. Sorry cannot go on reading. I cannot do this to myself.
This is an interesting paranormal type romance. June, a college student just working toward a better life, meets Devon, a century year old ghost, as he working on a project at Squire Castle. Devon is a ghost who can become corporeal, but only if he’s in physical contact with June. The two bicker, and there seems to be quite a few misunderstandings. Devon’s desperation to be acknowledged and seen tugs at something in June, so he takes the ghost home with him. It’s a fun little story to read. Decent writing, interesting plot.
I’m sure the story is great and everything but I couldn’t stick around long enough to find out. The writing is way too juvenile and simplistic and on the nose for me it became really distracting and unenjoyable, and altogether it just didn’t entice me to continue reading past more than a couple chapters.
